I have cousins who live in Ontario - back before zinc coating became commonplace the joke was that you could sit in the driveway and listed to your car rust. Huge usage of salt on the roads. Cars out west lasted much better because the weather was cold enough that little salt was used.
Oh man, the holy grail, the charger...no doubt, unto this day it`s still my dream car. The look, the sound just perfect. Kind regards from Switzerland.
the paint they use inside the valley is armature paint for the inside of electric motors but after youve grinded and smoothed it all for paint prep its usually good enough for oil to drain back to the sump
I know that poor black 68 is totally gone underneath, but I’d gladly and happily own that Charger instead of having no Charger.😔 I have the technology, it’s the 100 grand I’m lacking.
@@jonathanbelanger6574 yes,if you got a couple hundred grand you can restore anything,it has to be worth it in the end though. if that was a smallblock 318 car it wouldnt be worth the effort.it would have to be a big block, rare option, rare color car....
That's the thing about Canada if you drive your shit in the winter it will look like that charger because they use so much salt and then the slush has a strong mix of salt that gets up everywhere in every nook and cranny and rots the living snot right out of it
I love the dukes of hazzard since age 5 now 43 . I live in the branson area . my buddy owns and runs dixie outfitters here in branson mo. I work on his 2 Generals and his roscos sheriff car . I'm also a mopar fan .love chargers as well. I have an 82 d150 and a project 65 dodge dart. nice chargers Chris 😎👌👍🤘🇺🇸. I talk to and message Jed off and on . Scott's speed shop . you can use glyptol or Rust-Oleum rusty red primer to coat the inside of the engine. uncle tonys garage I think use this stuff. it's cheaper to buy that glyptol through electric supply company or Eastwood catalog ? I'm jeramiah by the way✌
Drive ‘em like you stole ‘em... that’s what they’re made for... never did believe in trailer queens.... nice ride . I’m not a mopar fan (Bowtie to the bone) BUT if i was to have any mopar it’d be the 69 Charger
I don't think it's fubarred at all as I've worked on worse. Quite savable in my book. Leaves plenty of room for tons of changes while restructuring the car!
@@junkerup thanks, that would explain that.. I'm trying to get into Canada to pickup a 440 Dart before some smart Canadian gets it and thought you had a secret ..be well
Shame the strongest part of the floor boards is the carpet. Unfortunately there's a 68 charger sitting up the street and the boy can't afford to restore it and will not sell it. Shame.
That penny is a keeper. Could be worth something someday. Now that dime, could be real silver. We no longer mint pennies in Canada. The copper was worth more then the currency value.
So is that enige already burning oil or what cause I saw you on Jeds channel towing that duster for him and he said there was the smell of burning oil LOL did you break the engine in properly or did you just high revs since day one?
dog oem performance of the 70's and 80's and aftermarket then proceed to tear down and replace with modern, what a funny man genius using other peoples shops. spinning tires for 100ft is always faster than not spinning at all, yeah brilliant.
I miss my modified circle track car race track got shut down cause some lady was standing in the turn passed the fence chunk of mud hooked a tire the mud flew about 40ft hit the lady in the belly she was pregnant lost the baby and sued the track for everything and then some lost my race cars had 4 super modifieds and Monte Carlo stock car but had to pay 350.000$ dollars 💵
I'll tell you right now if that's a fresh rebuild that has sat since the 80's it's going to need to be rebuilt because it's not good to run a tight engine that sat for so long trust me I learned the hard way and spun a bearing and some lifters were stuck
This just keeps getting better..the general is now a beast...Cheers 🍻🍻🍻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Wow thought mine had rust issues, this makes mine look rust free.
LMFAO
Mine too....... wow little rusty
The rare floor delete option. For Canada models only.
rock salt daze!!
Not so rare in Canada.

It was a highly sought after option up here. A Cdn car without floor delete is something to find.
Oh man, the holy grail, the charger...no doubt, unto this day it`s still my dream car. The look, the sound just perfect. Kind regards from Switzerland.
This is the best car channel at the moment, don’t change a thing
I LOVE how you rip the piss out of these Chargers. thats how I drove back in the 80`s hahahaha
That car would make a nice candidate for a chassis car
Maybe put it on a crown vic frame. Alot of people would hate on the idea, but its better than junking it.
413 and 426 wedge engines are great engines.
the paint they use inside the valley is armature paint for the inside of electric motors but after youve grinded and smoothed it all for paint prep its usually good enough for oil to drain back to the sump
GE Glyptol is the paint used in the engine.
You are the mopar Jesus. Loving what you do 😎👍🏼🤘
Great Video! I hope the General makes its way back on to the autocross track with new 426 sometime soon!

The black charger can be restored

I feel like I need a bath and a tetanus shot after watching this
Your my new best friend, shake'n bake buddy. That drift at 24:43!!!😎😎😎😂😂😂
I think we need an aluminum valve cover restoration video on how he shined them up like that
auto sol, mothers foam pad then purple polish
Wow! thats a lot of speed holes in that car. I bet you it whistles when the wind blows.
The fancier the valve cover, the more horsepowers it does make, ask any 16 year old. I'm Canadian and it's fun hearing the puns and side jokes.
That black dart though!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love those chargers so much but I will never be able to afford one!
Nice job saving that 426 wedge!
Excellent video and well done guys also keep going strong old Dodge Charger car!
It's about time you are back on after all this time
Chris you are the BOAT Bester of all time. 😎👍 love the vids.
That is one bad assed sounding 426 Charger.

Awesome, the General is back to Rude Health !! Brilliant !!
Love the truck right up our alley!
Come on man! A 5 gallon bucket or 2 and that charger would be good as new, dam!
John Scnieder would be proud ! Are you still planning to moving to a permanet shop ?
How does a car get that rusted out what in the world happened to it to get that bad!
Just had the peel the car off to leave the motor sitting there like an orange
I don't think it's fubarred at all as I've worked on worse. Quite savable in my book. Leaves plenty of room for tons of changes while restructuring the car!
So who gets the fiberglass fenders? And how did you know so much about the car, was it an ex race car?
Hey Chris thank you for the video I enjoyed and that is the way that you drive a generally hellyeah yeehaw
I would have been interested in that centre console
The carpet was stronger than the steel
"Where's the charger for this thing, the red light is on" There is a shop full of them! Lol
Dude, that is SICK!! 🤘🤘
Man that looks damned good, just noticed though your general is missing its nudge bar?
Love Chargers rock
Just bought me a set of E Street heads for my 70 440 ! What cam and pistons do you run ?
Unexpected ending! Nice!
Where are you finding all those cars?
I think you have an addiction.
Thanks man i just lived a dream watching that
" Maybe it's under the carpet". 😂😂😂
The only thing under the carpet was the 'shop floor lol
@@MrTrev69 😂😂😂😂
Certainly lookin like a good ole boy at the end lol
What a fucking car dude!
Awesome job bro!
That is the kind of rust a fella finds in Nova Scotia ...
Same on the West Coast if the car sat in grass for 30 years.
Que buen video amigo Saludos desde Argentina
Isn't that paint called glyptol or something like that?
You are correct James.
Glycol.
Damn good video man, enjoyed it!
That car isnt that bad... it only needs 95% of its metal replaced
Well... The console brackets are ok... And the glove box liner... The rest, not so much!!!😞
Is that 71 road runner for sale by chance ?
Now the general is the dogs danglies
That car probably sat in a field for years if its that rusty.
After driven through miles of winter road salt!
Sounds great
I’d take that steering wheel!
That’s a real project
Bo Duke love that.
How much would you pay for a 68 that’s been setting for 15 years
All depends on condition and options man 🤷♂️
How did you get into Canada thought it was closed to the US
Footage is year old

Smokin'!!
inside engine paint is Glyptol
Gliptol electric motor paint....
And the most awsome burn out I've seen!.....
I have a tiny bottle in my tool box. We use it to seal tied strings on aircraft wiring.
That penny is a keeper. Could be worth something someday. Now that dime, could be real silver. We no longer mint pennies in Canada. The copper was worth more then the currency value.
I don’t know if it’s the tetanus coming through the screen, or if my heart just sank when I saw the bottom of the car
Fresh , in the 80s?
The engine paint is glyptol
Well basically you "just" need new Floor front to back and Frame rails and it's solid.
No, not really only parts and evtl. Number swap hull.
So is that enige already burning oil or what cause I saw you on Jeds channel towing that duster for him and he said there was the smell of burning oil LOL did you break the engine in properly or did you just high revs since day one?

Dang! missed your chance at an " will it start" video lol
I still have the decals for the general lee if you want them
Yeah i need to re-decal it bad lol

I'll take the old charger. perfect for a restomaod with chassis works pro tour chassis.

you don't need frame ends mint
