This is like one of those old washers. I have a Crosley washer made by Whirlpool, extremely loud spin cycle. If you are wondering what the spin cycle sounds like I do have a video of the washing machine spinning.

I bought a Speed Queen TC5/DC5 set from Hansbarger Home Solutions Greenville Ohio in November 2022. They replaced a piece of junk Maytag Bravos XL set. The SQ TC5/DC5 set are the closest things to a Maytag set from the late 1980s! They wash and dry exceptionally well!

I'm in the minority here, but I don't care for the Speed Queen TC5 or TR series. I owned a TC5 for 3 years and after discovering the joys of what an old school direct drive has to offer, I never looked back. This particular model has excellent wash action, but lacks a water level control knob. I just feel they could have given it more options like the 2015 models had.

Do you have a video of a 2015 model? :)
The water lever knob would be awesome bc this washer truly is a game changer based on how current washers are!

@@Lovemyhomeee No, I only had the TC5 model. Yes compared to washers of today, it's excellent, but refurbishing older direct drives was a much better option for me.

The TR series in my opinion is a joke. It doesn’t really agitate your clothes. This TC5 will actually agitate your clothes and actually clean them. If regulation for washing machines could end, Speed Queen could bring back the mechanical timer which would really make the TC5 a true classic washer.

I agree with the TR models, they do look like they washer better than my Samsung washer that’s starting to mess up though.

@@LovemyhomeeeI can’t believe Samsung is still making washing machines. Like how many recalls do they have to do every year? So many of their washers have randomly exploded. Now they’ve let customers know that you can’t sue them anymore. I’m glad my 21 year old top load Frigidaire still works. I never even had to call someone to fix it. Apparently I found out that it doesn’t take a ball bearing it just has a sleeve bearing. Some simple repairs and it could probably just last me another 20 years. I don’t want to trade off the mechanical timer.

Speed Queen is rated most reliable by Consumer Reports! LG came in 2nd place in CR reliability ratings!
The flex vane agitator in the SQ TC5 reminds me of the Whirlpool Double Duty Super Surgilator Agitator & Maytag PowerFin Agitator! The SQ TC5 cleans excellent!

@@Lovemyhomeee It will eventually stop indexing but it takes quite a few wash cycles to do so in my experience. I bought a new Speed Queen set in 2013 for my family of 5 and so far have had absolutely no issues with the washer or dryer. Highly recommend the TC5 as it is built like mine other than mine has the mechanical timer which I prefer

Thank you for your quick reply and for the link, I will check it out. So far we love the new tc5. We are confused with adding detergent, liquid bleach. We us liquid tide, use the included measure cup/cap. We filled it to level 5, the most for dirty clothes. We put liquid Clorox for colors, but the bleach immediately falls down into machine. Is that normal? Do you use more detergent than this? I am sorry for being so dumb. We followed recommendations from tide bottle. Thank you for all your help. It seems like we need to add more detergent.
