Some fun facts about these episodes:
There's actually a full song of the song you hear the teacher sing about Jimmy Brown in episode 3 called "Ms. Langtree's Lament" I believe. The lyrics are worth looking at because they're very funny.
In episode 4 and 5, the role of Fred the Horse was written for actor and comedian Fred Stoller before they'd even asked him. When they did approach him, he agreed but told them he very much could not make horse noises. They said they didn't care and to just do whatever, which is why Fred the Horse makes such weird noises 😂
(I believe I am recalling this anecdote correctly, it's been awhile) The creator of OTGW Patrick McHale said that for Wirt's "song" in episode 4, he wanted Elijah Wood to feel as awkward as possible while singing it, so he and Colin Dean, the child actor who voiced Greg, chanted "sing lover sing!" at him outside the booth the entire time he was doing it. McHale said that Wood, a veteran actor, was probably not phased, but they all had a good laugh anyway.
