This is so surreal to watch as a high school theater kid bc hs and amateur quick changes are literally just a bunch of people crying and clothes flying everywhere and everyone is shaking so much that the zippers barely get zipped and the actors literally get on stage .03 seconds before the curtain comes up
This was one of the biggest things that floored me when I started working after college. High school and even college quick changes are chaos, so that's how I was used to thinking of them. Once you're in a professional environment, you actually take the time to plot out the quick change and adjust the costumes as necessary, so rather than chaos, it's just business as usual.
We’re doing a production of Gentleman’s Guide at my local community theatre. I’m running lights, but the light both is extremely close to the quick change area for the dysquith family. I can see our guy panicking trying to get all his clothes on in time. It’s really a pain to watch
THIS IS NOT EASY! I can barely handle one or two costume changes, never mind 27, or however many the unfortunate "D'Ysquith Forebearer" character has to go through. When I went to see the show last March, I was in awe of how easily Mays' standby was able to do it so efficiently and easily. Here, we get a sneak peek of how. Now, I am even more eager to produce this show one day.
I just got done working on the crew of a production of this show in my town, and I wish our changes could have been this quick. The Salome to Asquid change always took a minute or more consistently, so we would have a set stage background music, and an awkward pause.
And now he's on Broadway playing Beadle Bamford in the 2023 revival of Sweeney Todd(a show with the same orchestrator, Jonathan Tunick, and also not to mention where his singular character gets killed before the show's climax still, but anyway! XD)!

I love how calm John stays throughout all of it! I would be so panicked omg xD

Saw this tonight, John Rapson is amazingly talented, not to mention hilarious!!
John Rapson kills it in this part!
Bob Himlin Don’t you mean “these parts”? XD
I'm gonna see this show in February 3 days before my birthday. so excited!
What if I said my choir teacher knew and taught John Rapson. Cause he did.

Wow. Just wow
Saw the show in SF, John was so great! Usually the touring cast doesn't always have the best singers but this cast was amazing!
Love this!
