Absolutely LOVED seeing all your completed pictures!! Everything was just gorgeous! Thanks so much for sharing! I’m really loving the content you’re putting out! Best of luck with your new doggie!❤
Hi Jackie. Absolutely beautiful pages. I really like the Camilla D’Errico pages you’ve done and I love that you gave them that painterly effect using the inktense and water mediums.
Lovely pages Jackie 😍😍 I love seeing you experimenting with textures with water based mediums - I can see how much fun you are having with the final results 😍🥰
Gorgeous pages! So happy to see you colouring in Mythographic - they are my favourite and you’ve given me so many wonderful ideas to try! Thank you for sharing, I enjoy your channel :)
Thank you so much! I plan to do more Inktense videos in different styles of books to give you ideas how to use them, I’ve just uploaded one in an Amazon printed RJ Hampson book (first part and I will finish the page in part two) if you are interested. Thanks for watching! 😊
Holy cow! You got soo many pages done 😍 I love how you work with the Inktense in the pop manga books. They were so beautiful!! Thanks so much for sharing ☺️
Hi Jackie, so many wonderful pages and great to hear your ideas and descriptions of media on each. There are a couple of pages from the Japanese books at the beginning, that are my favourites. Great to watch, cheers Sue
The glaze pens are kind of new to me. I had started out with clear and black, love the clear for all sorts of things.. glass, water, eyes, wet animal noses, etc. The black is the most jet black finish of anything I've tried, something about the gloss really gives it intensity. I eventually got all of the colors as well, they give such a different look than other pens/pencils. I've had great fun with colored glass, fish (they look great on fish with that "wet" finish), bubbles, etc. I did gelatin (we call it jello here but not sure what it's called elsewhere) once and it turned out awesome. One thing I have found and fair warning.. be careful about pages that face each other.. if there are large portions of glaze on both pages it will stick to itself regardless of how long it has dried. Be sure to use a page to separate them in storage.
Yes! They are sticky! I don’t tend to use a lot of added ‘extras’ to pages purely because I am lazy, and if they aren’t easy to put my hands on then those sorts of supplies don’t get used 😁 The glaze pens do make a nice touch here and there though 👍
Oh wow is it really that many! I loved watching the beautiful finished pages and of course all the videos you brought us in May too. Thankyou dear friend for always brightening my viewing pleasure ❤❤❤
The mythographics are my favorite books. They do have an awful lot going on, and a lot of people say they struggle with them. Typically I do all of mine with marker base and pencil over the top, and almost always some metallic or glitter pen somewhere. Watercolor would totally work, and I use it the same way often in other books, I just find my alcohol markers faster and easier to control with all the tiny spaces (my markers have fine and brush ends). I do all my marker basing first, as a flat layer of light to midtone color, which leaves a lot of room for adjustment once the pencils come into play. It basically just maps out the page, making it easier to determine what is what (metal, stone, water, plant, wood, etc) which is half the challenge with one of these pages, makes foundational color choices, and covers the tooth to speed up coloring. I always start with my focal point, figure out what color that is going to be, and leave my backgrounds very basic and typically a light muted shade of the complementary color to the focal point.. or dark (black, maroon, forest green, indigo blue, etc).. depending on if my focal point is light or dark, choosing the opposite. I find that if I do anything fussy in the background it makes the page kind of a jumbled mess that my eyes don't want to settle on, there is just so much happening at the same time. It's easy to find multiple items on a page that want to be the focal point.. make sure they don't compete with each other. I try to use the same base colors on purpose across the page, I find it makes everything more cohesive. It looks very flat and boring at first, but I use different pencils on top of the same base color for variation. Just some tips as I've got a dozen of these books and color them often.
I think they are the sorts of books that become familiar, and more comfortable, the more you work in them 👍 I think all the artists are brilliant and create amazing images, but Joseph Catimbang is my favourite 😉
@@spare_room_studio he's my favorite artist too. I recently discovered he has a YT channel and he was kind enough to chat with me a bit, which was neat.
It is so lovely and relaxing to watch your finished pages, although there is an insane amount of them😂😂 My faves are all the Mythographic pages!! Your style works so well in those books!
May really was a bumper month! June will be nothing like that, Hamish is taking up a lot of time (plus he just creates more cleaning jobs for me too) and I have a few random things happening right now which is cutting down when I can record.
Hi Jackie! I love your technique with inktense for backgrounds, they do look painterly. Wow beautiful work in all your books. I'm going back to watch more of your videos. tfs
Oh thank you! I used to work with someone who has Dutch parents and found the pronunciation very difficult to understand at times (plus I’m pretty bad at accents 😁) Thanks for watching 😊
Wonderful pages! Your style is very free and so effective! I especially love the Yururi mouse and Camilla pages but they are great! I love what you do to suggest a background and how you leave little bits of white or textures here and there to give a sketchy feel. Bravo!
I would love to learn how to create a cloudy background with Inktense like you did in the picture of the mermaid with the two green birds. It was in d'Errico's book Mermaids and other Sea Creatures I think. At least I found the same page in my book by that name. I love how wispy the white and the blue create the background.
Thanks for watching - I plan to create several more Inktense videos in different books to show ideas for how to use the pencils. I shall try and cover something similar for you 👍
Wonderful pages, I really love the watercolor effects you went with this month!! I struggle with leaving 'unfinished' specks of white and always feel the need to burnish everything to within an inch of its life, so it's really amazing for me to see how pretty pages turn out without that. I think my digital artist background plays a big role in my need to make traditional art look 'pixel-perfect' because I even obsess on the digital side to make things look perfect.
Digital art is a whole different world, but it is good to try and relax your style with different art mediums - they all have their own strengths and watercolour techniques are brilliant for “loosening up” 😊 Thanks for watching!
@@spare_room_studio Oh I agree!! I switched to coloring books to re-learn traditional art supplies and the differences, looks and challenges of them. It's been a great experience even if my hands sometimes suffer haha.
Thanks Jody, your hashtag really helped put these books to the forefront of my mind 👍 It took me a while to fall in love with Inktense pencils but they are one of my favourite supplies now 😊 thanks for watching!
Every page you have done is very beautiful Jackie. You are a true artist when it comes to coloring. I particularly liked the pink cup and saucer at the beginning of the video. How on earth did you get that gorgeous gold color? It is also on the goldfish I think, absolutely lovely. Also your backgrounds are fabulous...I wish I could do one as good!
I’ve used Primrosia water based brush tip markers and several cheap generic brands off Amazon….the quality is all very similar I find. I don’t have any brush tip alcohol markers.
What a beautiful loose style in your coloring. Thank you for sharing.🥰
Thank you! 😊
WOW! Love the soft colors! You have the perfect balance of wc and pencil detail.
Thank you so much! I try to restrain myself from overworking the pencil - it should help accentuate without obliterating the watercolour I think 😉
I couldn't agree more. Her work is gorgeous and gives me new things to try.😊
I really loved the girl with a turtle on her head Alot, it's so bright and happy! All your pages were beautiful ❤
Thank you - you can count on Camilla d’Errico books for some odd cuteness that makes you smile! 😊
Hello Jackie Absolutely Beautiful 💕💕Love all your pages
