Legendary Gymnastics coach Valorie Kondos Field gets dance party sendoff from UCLA

- Legendary UCLA Gymnastics head coach Valorie Kondos Field, better known as "Miss Val", joins fans, gymnasts, and friends in a celebratory dance party after her final meet. Miss Val led the Bruins to seven NCAA Championships, and 14 Pac-12 titles over her storied career. She was also named Pac-12 Coach of the Year in 1995, 2000, 2003, and 2012.

She actually was never a gymnastics coach before she got the UCLA gig....she was a dancer. As I understand it, she was looking to make some money as a piano player and came upon a gymnastics venue that needed a piano player....from there she got into coaching gymnastics. As they say, the rest is history.
Leif Johnson she actually came to UCLA to be a dance an assistant choreographer for the team and worked her way up from there
being there for this in person was MAGICAL...such a perfect send off

One of my biggest regrets in life is not going to UCLA and somehow being apart of the UCLA gymnastics team.
This will, literally, be the end of an ERA. Very much like when Coach Wooden retired. A legendary leader, instructor, teacher and coach is leaving soon. Life for the UCLA gymnastic team will continue on, into next season and forward...though never the same again. #MissValRocks
