    I think the Qidi lineup for the money is seriously underrated.

    First off, unless you have had your printer for some time you have the version that was sold in the July/August timeframe.
    Gone are the individual magnets which were exchanged for a magnet sheet that you stick to the bed once you've removed the nine magnets,
    The BLTouch was replaced with an inductive prox (my BLTouch had all sorts of problems, good riddance).
    The front and back covers have been replaced with ones that include fans and/or extra fans. The necessitated the addition of a small breakout board that needed to be added to the back of the extruder.
    The hotend was replaced as well, fixing a problem that it had with filament melting in the cold end.
    Qidi sent these parts and more to me at no cost to me. Their support has been fantastic!
    @4:53 It is also worth mentioning that some of us are tall enough to reach down through the massive hole on the top and do the adjustment that way. Just saying... :)

    I bought the X-Max 3 after I got the K1 Max since the K1 Max was a bust for me....the Qidi is a fantastic printer for ABS/ASA/PA/PC and all the GF/CF variants, I have put 220 hours on my Qidi and its been flawless.....but owning Bambu printers and being so used to the eco system it does suck not to be able to check in on a phone app and be able to control the printer...but Qidi started doing pre-orders for a chamber camera and there is always the octoeverywhere option if you can get ssh access. I will be contacting Qidi support to see if I can get the login info, also must say when it comes to print quaity the Qidi is close to a Bambu printer...

      @@kyberkustoms2886 very very little almost better in some areas then my Bambu printers. The X Max 3 has been solid for me, i have done a few PLA prints but mostly ABS/ASA/PA//PC and cf gf variants

    I have a bevvy of printers, but the K1 Max by Creality has been wonderful for me--except--and this is on me--when I (two different times) accidentally selected the wrong material in the slicer, heating for PETG with PLA loaded , casing a massive jam where I have to take it all apart. My MakerBot Method X CF prints like a dream but requires lots of care and feeding when not in use. This machine is interesting to me and I will pick one up, based on this review. The chamber heating is what sold me. I do see a lot of K1 hate out there and I get it. I've had a lot of coffee today.

  • @richardwillcox4097
    @richardwillcox4097 2 місяці тому

    My experience with Qidi is one of poor service and slow replies. My Xplus 3 suffered an extruder failure IE filament would not feed into the hot end. So far there has been no support from QIDI and I find this very disappointing.

    What are your thoughts on this compared to the p1s? Obviously the build plate is smaller, but you could get the p1s + ams for this price. Assuming you don't have a printer or you are moving on from your first printer, I feel like the p1s + ams would be a better value.

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  10 місяців тому +1

      If you don’t need the size get the P1S. It’s in a different league overall. The Qidi is a good printer but it’s not Bambu good.

    I have this xmax3, I have issues with prints popping off during printing, I think it's because the first layer is not squishing down enough, not sure how to adjust z axis on this machine to compensate. Should I make the plastic card test tighter or looser?

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  10 місяців тому +1

      Go tighter with the card but before you do that try washing the plate thoroughly with washing up liquid and drying first. Avoid Isopropyl alcohol as it can cause prints to pop. I also use a Little Lac (hair spray basically) to help too.
      When using the card to adjust the Z you want it so that it has some good restriction when you move it. Not lightly gripped.
      My advice is make a 0.2mm flat full bed sheet in something like freecad and do some test prints. If you’re still off the bed then lower the z by making the card tighter.

    I was under the impression that the new revision came with an induction probe, due to the CR touch pin warping in the heated chamber 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @oleurgast730
      @oleurgast730 9 місяців тому +1

      65°C do not warp the probe pin. Actually inductive probes are much more sensitive to ambient temperature - the trigger point shifts. "temperature compensation" with an intergrated NTC in the probe was a big deal for Prusas PINDA2 back in the days and later replaced wit the self compensating SuperPinda - but only consant trigger point in an operating surrounding temperature of 15-35°C.
      Higher ambient temperature with inductive probes is only possible with auto-z-offset. It doesn't matter if the trigger distance shifts, if you always auto calibrate the z-offset before doing the mesh.

      The USB-cable in the printhead has bad contact. This can happen on rough shipping. If the contact isn't pefect, it might still work. But of course, recallibrating shakes the head a lot, so this can loosen the connector more.
      Just remove back cover of the printhead, and press the USB connector in it's socket...
      "MKS_THR" is the name of the printheads PCB. It is based on the design of Makerbases THR36 and THR42 boards, with customisation for Qidi (using f.e. a maxim chip for the hotends thermocouple instead having a thermistor input).

    Putting in a USB stick for firmware is klunky? oO;
    wtf ... try having to put in arduino board with jumpers on random pins, compiling a separate flashing program for it .... Yeah, that's klunky. Putting in a USB stick is dead simple.
