Hi Guys. Has this house sold yet? I was just down in the Keys a few weeks ago looking at real estate. I currently live in a 3800 sq ft waterfront home in California......my home is about 700k short of what this house is listed for. All I gotta say about the prices in the Keys is.....OUTRAGEOUS! Sorry, but I wouldn't pay what that tiny old house was worth just a few short years ago. I'm very surprised people are obviously willing to pay over 45-50k a year in property taxes and home/flood insurance for a 1950s 1800sq ft home that's guaranteed to flood in the near future. Crazy....Best of luck to you guys.
So good to see you again. Beautiful home, really the epitome of what Keys living is about. Here in SoCal we have nothing like that, I really love the little Venice area, hope you make a sale. My Gawd this is really my dream home, but sadly a bit more than I want to finance at this point. Love your humor. Stay well, just spent 1 week in the ICU on a ventilator and another after that thanks to COVID, so be careful ❤
Absolutely beautiful home and location... but wow, there is zero protection against storm surge. Plus, the home is at ground level. I guess it's a risk you have to accept when buying in the keys.
That is the tradeoff down here sometimes. If it were an elevated home in that location it would most likely be twice that price....things we do to live in Paradise! Thanks for watching!!
There are a variety of buyers in the Keys, some want to live here full time, some want a vacation home, and some want to invest their money in real estate. We don't really see investment companies coming in a scooping up a bunch of properties though.
I can’t believe anybody would even pay that much for it at all in Ohio! There’s no ocean front water available to you, you don’t have a year-round beautiful weather. I wouldn’t give 20,000 for it in Ohio! L O L.
Nice video guys. However, please tell us how much will it cost to own, that is, the new taxes for the buyer, insurance , if buyer has a mortgage even if it is minimal
Hmmm...that's an excellent idea for a video! Let us work on that. I can tell you that taxes are roughly 1% of the purchase price, insurance varies greatly property to property, but it is not unusual for insurance to be over 10K per year. Exterior maintenance also varies greatly by property but I would say it is higher down here just because of our exposure to sun, salt, water and wind.
It is definitely a nice home, I just can't believe that it sold for just over 1 million in 2020 and now it's 2.5 million. I am highly doubtful that whoever buys it will be able to sell it for a profit down the road. It would be a good rental, bringing nice income. But that's what's wrong with the Keys nowadays, the rentals have killed the average person's dream of owning a home in the Keys.
Yes real estate prices here are shocking these days. I can remember back 5 years ago when I could have purchased a three bedroom waterfront home in Marathon for $750k...but now...no way. Hindsight is 20/20 ....
So true. But some people do love ground level homes down here. It's a risk you take if you love the place you live. I personally prefer a ground level home, there are so many benefits to ground level, but you just have to weigh out the risk vs. reward ....some choose to take that risk, some do not. Flooding has and always will be a factor down here.
does the furniture stay, does the boat, how many feet of space for second boat, even if that cat dont stay, i guess that i should just ask how many feet of seawall
Hard to say accurately, but I would assume several times. Like any ground level home here in the Keys, there is always that risk. Concrete homes here have been holding up for decades, this one is a good example. Good maintenance and remodeling are just necessities to live in Paradise!
Very pretty place to visit but to buy... at that price . I can just imagine what the insurance is. No thanks. No way, no how... regards from Ian's cousin....
Dont get caught on Cay Sal Bank, unless you dont mind being arrested. As for living on the water, it would depend upon the location. Although it can be very nice, it can also be like living in a fish bowl. Especially if you like privacy.
You can find lots of privacy out on your boat in the big, blue ocean 😎 Plus there are areas in the lower Keys that offer more privacy for those that prefer it.
@@GablesOnTheGo When you spend a fortune on a nice home on the water, it can be disappointing when there is a parade of boats going by with their loud music playing, especially on the longer holiday weekends. Lets go see how the rich people live seems to be a preferred method of entertainment in the keys. It was even worse prior to the restrictions placed on taking lobsters in the private canals. Drive bys gawking at you in their rented cars or bicycles are another issue. I know all about the boat, i had a very nice one which was one of the main reasons i moved there to begin with. I lived on Yacht Club island on Duck Key full time for more than 10 years. So i know what im talking about. There are much nicer water front homes in much nicer places in Florida where this isnt an issue as it is down there.
I see mini split AC/heat...thinking that's the way to go...In a central system if sumthin breaks you're dieing in tha heat....also zones are separate....not wasting energy cooling unnecessary areas....
Like anywhere else, there are negatives to living in the Keys for sure. Wow....you just gave us a great topic for a video...thanks! We will work on answering that question for you in an upcoming video!
@@GablesOnTheGoGablesOnTheGo When I mentioned to a friend that I might consider the islands (Captiva, Matlacha) or even the Keys over Cape Coral, he warned me that a Cat 1 storm requires mandatory evacuation. I'm currently in Lee County and sheltered in place for the last 3 Hurricanes. Relocating to a shelter would be exceedingly difficult for me. The Tropical Beauty of the Keys is quite appealing.
What I want to know is what’s up with all these land leases? It’s a total scam! It’s almost as bad as time shares! You’re paying towards something that’s never yours! It’s not like you can move the house you bought!
I have a bit of a tough time with that set up myself. But...they are packed with people and as much as I don't personally understand the justification, it obviously works for many. That might make a good video if we could interview some of the residents and hear their reasoning for their purchase. Hell, we might all learn something new and I'll be selling those things like hotcakes! Thanks for watching!
I live in florida and have no desire to live anywhere near the water ,the prices are ridiculous can't imagine how much they are paying for home and flood insurance, I've been to the keys just too much of a tourist town for my liking
So nice to see you guys again. Best wishes to you.
Beautiful place. Enjoyed the video. Thanks for your time. Always enjoy seeing you both.
Thanks so much for watching! More to come soon.
Thanks guys. I was thinking about you guys earlier today. It was great to see you again.
Thanks so much for watching!
Good to see y'all again. Looking good and thanks for the video.
Thanks 👍

Nice video. Beautiful house on the water. Great info. Thanks and take care.
Glad you enjoyed it

I think so too!

Thank you! Cheers!
I miss the Keys so much.
I love it. Back yard needs a Tiki bar. And sound and tv system.
Let's make it happen! Give us a call ....
Lottery first.
Lol
What kind of buyers do you see down there? Is there private equity companies, investment companies like Black Rock coming in scooping up properties?

We stay in key colony beach on 9th street every year !!! Vaca cut isn't for newbies on a boat
Vaca cut can be crazy sometimes for sure. I've personally rescued people out of a capsized boat there myself.
That's a $240k house in Ohio
But this one doesn’t offer snow 😂
Location, location, location...
@@GablesOnTheGo , and no snow!
Yeah but you’d be in Ohio.😂

I remember decent sized homes in Key West for $300k. 😮
Looks just like my cousins house in ft Lauderdale
seems a bit overpriced for $2.5M 😂

What would you expect insurance to be on this home?
Not sure I would be riding in a boat with my foot in the water at trolling speeds..... caught to many cuda's in the channels to feel safe.....
But you said in a prior video that people don't want a waterfront home with living space on the first /ground floor due to flooding

How many times has that place been flooded since the 50’s?

why are people that can't afford this commenting here
I wish I could say sold its everything I want.

Guys if they want to trade for Tennessee farmland our family is selling the “family farm.”

Not a chance for 2.5 million, you own it
i hope so, i just have to get there before that guy waiting for lottery
If you leave your house and go South your in Cuba. ????
If you run a 150degree heading out of Marathon, in 65 miles you'll hit Elbow Cay/Cay Sal Bank in the Bahamas....it's another 40 miles to Cuba...

Waterfront in Florida no thanks, wait till another hurricane hits.
Would rather be in peurto rico. Better people pretty place. Florida sucks
