Growing our own food at home to feed our family is important to us.. We tried to get the spring garden started but hit a problem when the tiller on the tractor was sitting sideways! We work through the problems and we got something in the ground!

I used to have a neighbor in his 90's. His garden was half the size of yours. He always turned over his garden with a 5 finger pitch fork. They saved scrap items from the kitchen and fall leaves and he turned everything in his garden. His dirt was so nice and black and soft. Everything grew so tall in his garden.

Ransom is an excellent helper on the farm. The other kids will help when they can, but more often than not, they are into something else. But it's usually something on the farm or a requirement for school. They are all good kids and they love to keep the new. Baby busy. Great video today, I love to watch the gardening being started.
Gary, I had a flash back to my dad tilling our huge garden. His tiller was bigger than yours and it took a STRONG man to make the turn. He did other people's gardens as a side hustle from his regular job. That was likely 60 years ago. Thanks!
Before the breakdown I noticed the cattle at the fence. They associate the tractor with food!

I always mowed the grass with my dad, even when I would go home in the summer with kids of my own. So that first time mowing my yard every year bring a flood of memories of Dad and me mowing the grass. I am gonna be 73 this summer and I still love it!❤
That’s one thing that my Dad & I did together every summer. He’d let me cut the grass with our lawn tractor & he’d do all the push mowing. Oh such great memories!! 🥰🥰🥰
Ransom is the best helper ever!❤🚜 I love seeing all the kids! They were all helping Dad! Mazie and Ranger were helping take care of Little Bear! 🐻 From what I can tell, he’s a pretty well behaved baby! He seems to love y’all! I’m glad he doesn’t need glasses, you’re right Cassie, I have never thought about babies needing their eyes checked until one of my friends who is an eye doctor told me she would check my grandkids eyes for free the first time! I was like are they old enough at, I think the first one was 3 months, she said sure she is! Wow who would have known? I had three daughters and never knew! On another note, I have been praying for Stacey, Brandi mentioned the fundraiser and it was for a teacher, and I knew right away who she was talking about! Gary was talking about the verse about the mustard seed and I was thinking about her then! I’m praying for her treatment and recovery! ❤️🩹 God is the master healer! I hope everyone is doing well! That’s a Fred Cain Farm Equipment product! I actually use to make & put those tillers together. It was hard work to line up the holes, but it looked nice in the end. Glad to see one in use! Thank you Gary & Cassie! It brought back memories! My friend that worked with me on these, died a few yrs ago & I will never forget the days we worked together!

I completely understand the smell of fresh dirt bringing back memories. Also for me the smell of cut sawdust my dad was a carpenter when he wasn't working in the garden and orchard. So thankful for those memories but the most precious memories is the teachings of Christ he was a elder in the church I grew up in.

Our local pantry is open on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 11 to 3 PM they serve nearly 1,000 local families there is a Duck plant not too far from us that donates duck eggs and sometimes frozen ducks. It's a once a month pantry people can come once a month and the local bakery donates bread, buns, and English Muffins. Once a year the postal carriers puts bags in our mailboxes so customers can donate non perishable foods.

I love gardening, however I’m no longer physically able to manage one. To get my gardening bug itched; I plant herbs and a couple veggies on my tiny deck. It’s not the same but it allows me to get my hands in the soil! Happy planting!
I am so looking forward to the snow melting and being able to get out in my yard. I still have so much clean up to do from last falls septic install! 💖💖💖
My mom passed in 2018, but she loved gardening. And here in Ohio, I can tolerate winter till New year's, through the holidays. But late January into February, I always said we have to start making our visits to the Home Depot, because I need to smell dirt and fertilizer to power through the rest of winter.
I used get dirt withdrawal in the spring! My husband took over my herb garden after I was disabled, as long as I cook or show him how to cook with the herbs. I really thank him so much for that!!! At least I can smell the dirt!!!!!

I used cover crops from Hoss over the winter, less weeds and kept the soil loose and nourished. I think it would help you. You’re a smart farmer and dad.

That tiller did a great job , just as good as a new . But if you didn't see the last hook 🪝 on the right side are crooked,and you need to straighten it out, or I think it'll break soon and maybe destroy something more when it does. Just saying I don't know! 🥰❤️🥰
I needed them, my mom suspected it, but the Optometrist said I needed to know my alphabet before my appointment. So I was 6 years old (no kindergarten) before being checked. All the way home (40 minutes) I was pointing things out that I was seeing for the first time. Only when I was an adult did Mom tell me that she kept her feelings buried until later that night she cried and felt it was her fault that she had never thought of trying to afford a trip 3 hours away to a Opthomologist that might have helped me sooner. Mom was a widow with 4 kids, new driver, on a very strict budget (SS only pays for 2 children) and no money to pay for insurance. She did what she could and I tried to reassure of that when she told me of her guilt. I told her that of the 4 of us kids, it hadn't hindered any of my interests. I'm the reader, I do hand & machine sewing, quilting, crochet, knitting, bead work, play many instruments that takes reading music... I told her that having to wait so long, I remember the joy of improved sight, and treasured my glasses more than anyone I know.
