@@stevesnaps1 thanks Steve was a stunning fish for sure
Wow, just wow, not enough words to do that justice. What a portfolio of Llyns to have.
Congratulations on achieving your aim too.
That Brownie with the metallic green hue, never seen that before.
I too thought the hue was superb.
Well done guys 👍🏻🎣🎣🎣
Glad you enjoyed it
I came up with the Three Lakes Challenge many years ago in North Wales which involved walking to 3 of the highest lakes. Did it for a hospice charity and the media covered it. I toyed with whether I should make more of it and deliberately decided not to thinking that these waters are quite sensitive places and things should be low key. I love hiking and fly fishing for wild trout and have been doing it nearly 40 years (used to guide in N Wales etc). My main destinations now are in very wild parts of Scotland. I don't promote or name where I go. Still trekking up to very remote places but maybe a bit slower at 62. Tight Lines.
@@mattwright2964 which 3 lakes did you fish Matt?
Really great video fair play. How lucky are we to have access to these Reservoirs and Llyns. Well done boys.
🤜🤛
Yes we are Tony. Thanks for watching.
Well done - great video - Parf needs a bigger net lol - where did you park for the reservoir please?
Yes,I do need to take a bigger net.
I assume you mean Cwm Rheidol res. We drove up a rough lane from the southern dam corner and found a parking space.
We have added all of the parking locations in the video description.
Great video guys which outlined just how lucky we are in the Aberystwyth area.
I thought the condition & colouring of some of the fish you caught were beautiful.
Well done & hope you enjoyed that beer!!… 👍
Enjoyed that boys, great fish, lovely scenery, diolch yn fawr.
Enjoyed the video but woulda been good to know a bit more about the rod/line weight and density, tippet, flies, droppers etc that you were using!
Thank you for the feedback, glad you enjoyed the video! We have covered the tactics in more detail in previous content, and with the long run time of the challenge would have been a bit of a squeeze to go into depth unfortunately. It’s a simple approach that we all used- 10ft #6 weight fly rods, WF6 floating line, a leader of 6lb fluorocarbon around 12 ft, with a 5 ft intermediate polyleader on the butt to aid turnover and dig the flies in. Two flies, point and dropper. Most traditional wet flies will work on the lakes, such as the Kate McLaren, Mallard and Claret and Bibio. We also used black woolly buggers and black tadpoles, with red beads as a point fly, which work well when the fish are in a chasing mood. That set up and flies will work well on any upland Welsh lake.
Love the video, I love lake fishing, shame don't have any close to me.
@@janbobrowski2474 thanks Jan! Well worth the drive to mid Wales
