I took some time to play around with all my squiers so I could decide which kid is my favorite. It was a much harder task than I could have ever imagined and I'm still second guessing the results.

Looking at the background: Clearly, Ryan is a guy that sells everything he doesn't like.
I see what you did there...
I see it’s been about two years, since your comment. 😂 Thank you so much for the laugh! My goal was two guitars. Currently, I have a semi-hollow with humbuckers and a classical. I’m looking to add a G&L spec’d USA Comanche and stop at three….. My G.A.S. therapist tells me that I’m making EXCELLENT progress…..
I think you’re feeling a special bond to that cyclone cause it’s basically you in guitar form😂
Sell ME the Super Sonic now that you've been so kind to dial it in
NO. SELL IT TO ME!
Your Jedi mind tricks won't work here
Who are you, and how you have 367k subs?
The switch has been fine on mine and everyone I’ve played with.
I think he just got a defect. Changing strings a must!
A Heavier gauge will fix most of the tuning issues
No faves...because they all fill a different role...love the Bari...
But the Super Sonic looks like it was designed by the guy who was fired because he showed up to work on bath-salts one too many times.
I couldn't sleep at night knowing that thing was close by.
The Starcaster is totally cool. I thought the pickups were too bright after I'd had mine for about a month, but now I've found that for a clean rhythm track on a recording the Starcaster is amazing. Comes through the mix so clear, and never strident or brittle. Plus that neck feels great.
I've heard that a few times regarding tracking/recording...making me a little interested
No lie, I’ve been serious about playing guitar for almost 7 years now, and The squire classic vibe starcaster is my favorite guitar. It’s a guitar that I just happened to start playing in a shop one day and I immediately fell in love. All 3 positions offer such beautiful rich semi-hollow tones completed with that signature bright fender chime. It’s quickly become the most played guitar in my collection even up against my real fenders.
i knew the Starcaster would win, you always seem extra happy when playing it, how about a lipstick pickup in the cyclone? , my friend did it to his jaguar and it sounded great.
if i could ask, lipstick pup of what brand?
Dude, your playing has reached another level. I can remember your older videos where you would stand up and play. Which I wish you still did btw. Anyway, congrats on the massive upswing on your subscription numbers. You truly deserve the attention! I've been watching and enjoying your videos for a very long time. Keep the amazing content rolling and always looking to watch the next installment!
And your cyclone is a charm. Loved the sound
That cyclone sounds amazing
I had no interest in the cyclone until I saw these videos. Really want one now.
Same!
Dammit I ordered a jazzmaster before I saw your cyclone video
"Light Drive"
The noise: BOOMDSSSHHHHBOOMDSSSSSHHHHHBOOMDSSHHBOOMDSSSSHHHHHHHHH
love your vibe and playing and videos ryan... cool stuff
Damn that Cyclone is really something, it's clean and soft, for someone who dont usually play on high gains its literally the one
Just picked up one of the walnut starcasters from that series and I’ve been sooooooo impressed with it so far, I’m completely in love with it already!
I pre-ordered the Sunburst version from Sweetwater as soon as they listed them on the site. Great guitar. Those Walnut versions are very nice.
How much do they weigh? The Starcaster
Favorite Squier of yours : Cyclone. Favorite Squier of mine : Bullet Mustang
I have the tele and the bullet strat.i can never find the mustang in stock for very long.i want the sea foam or the white one.
@30:14, I'm glad there's a happy ending for the Super Sonic!
Ryan Im glad to see you kept the Cyclone, although Im incredibly partial to the Vintage Modified Cyclones and not the Cyclone 2 like you have. Ive got a Cyclone that I have completely overhauled and Im trying to work on videos documenting it. The Cyclone is currently my favorite guitar style from Squire/Fender and would love to chat about it!
If I had to choose one, it would be the Starcaster as well- love the shape and finish.
Awesome playing!
Would love to see a video with all your current collection, with a short bit of playing and opinions on each one.. It's always fun especially when you pick up a guitar you haven't in a while and get pleasantly surprised with how much you like it!
Hey Ryan! Really loved all your demos on the Supersonic Paranormal! I just ordered one myself. It looks like the main take aways for the tuning issues: (1) heavier set of strings; (2) graphite work on the nut: and (3) floating the bridge. Do you have any other advice?
That baritone done in a paisley with a dia de los muertos skull would be sick
I would also choose the Starcaster. I've tried one out and they have great playability and a very nice sound going through Fender Super Champ or a DRRI Tone Master. Plus it has the sharpest looks, IMO.
But as a second I would like to try the Baritone, I dig those P-90's and maybe snazz up the look with some vinyl racing stripes. and the # 8.
I just ordered a starcaster, cannot wait to get it! Looking at a slick sl50 at the moment, totally worth checking out
Squire mustang turned out to be a favorite of mine
Yay squier. I've got two and they are great.
Enjoying your videos! The starcaster is growing on me. Just bought some Filtertrons. Would I be able to fit them in the classic vibe starcaster?
I think the Cyclone sounds great! No issues whatsoever. And what a tasty, airy solo at the end. Good job, Ryan!
That baritone tele with the P-90s sounded amazing
I liked your evaluation process. Nice to have collection of somewhat "similar" guitars to do this kind of comparisons.
I just picked up a new Classic Vibe '70s Telecaster Custom last week and cant believe how amazing it is. When i was a kid you stayed away from squier but they seem to be much better quality now! great video
The squier classic vibe line is something special, great guitars at even better prices. Love my CV Jazz Master and would really like to pickup that starcaster.
You could tell nearly from the beginning that the Super Sonic was going to be the best for heavy sounds. Very different sound to the rest of them.
My Squire Starcaster and J Mascis Jazzmaster are my two favorites! Trying to decide whether or not to install a Les Trem ii on it.
I always wanted a Jaguar so I sttled for a Squire Classic Vibe 70s Jaguar in surf green. So glad I did, plays great and the quality is really good.It used to be that Squires were known as junk guitars, Not the case anymore.
I really loved this video… my first guitar was a Squier Strat in the late 90s. I sold it, but I did pre order that Black and silver Stratocaster Contemporary Special or whatever it’s called. Can’t wait for it… this video makes me want that Super Sonic, as well as the Cyclone 😬
Did you ever have one of the Toronados?
Like the Starcaster best as well, Got one on order, can not wait to get it !
I followed your mods from a previous video for the supersonic by decking the bridge. In this video you said you floated it. I felt locking down the bridge really helped with tuning. Can you show how you floated yours, as you said it stays in tune even better? Thx.
Baritone, Starcaster and the Jazzmaster for me
Same here, but for me a CV Jag would be number 3, although it was not in the video.
My friend put jazzmaster trem and pickups on his affinity starcaster
Love the high gain on the bridge
I have that baritone and bought it on your recommendation and I adore it! I play open tuned slide, country, blues, metal on it. It comes through every time.
Really digging the super sonic
I know they're so great i got one and mine had some of the same problems as his but i worked on it and it plays so well now
And for the price it's a great buy
Get one. It's rad. Definitely had to fix tuning problem, but once it's fixed, it owns
I did some light modding to my J. Mascis, and it is now amazing. Way better than its price point
12:48 "This one, this is really high up my list of my favorites here, which is funny because it's so unconventional..." he says as i'm looking at the guitars behind him...
Squier has consistently been offering not only AMAZING guitars for the price compared with so many others in the same or mid-tier price range. I’ve also been a big fan of them always offering new and unique models consistently for over 20+ years now. For me, a Squier logo on the headstock doesn’t automatically equate to a low quality or cause me to avoid checking it out when it’s surrounded by other, more expensive brands. Truth is, if I were wealthy, I wouldn’t have a wall of ultra expensive custom shop instruments, but I’d honestly have a huge collection of “oddball” Squiers and various vintage instruments. The one super high end I’d grab would be a Vigier Arpege
kidwajagstang if I had the space I’d collect every oddball fender/squier. I love them all.
I bought the blondie star caster and like you I love it!!!
I think, in a perfect world (for me), the Starcaster would have Jazzmaster pickups and trem, and would use the pots and stuff from the rhythm circuit overall. Make it the jazz guitar they intended to with both attempts.
Ryan you should do a guitar collection video! You have some amazing guitars in the wall!
Hey Ryan, what pickup do you have in the bridge position of your Jazzmaster? I just noticed the pole pieces were off to one side, similar to a covered humbucker. Interesting..
I had my first real go with the Squier Paranormal bari yesterday on band practice environment. Gotta say, Dayummm... I think I love the beast. I'm pretty sure the seller did some minor post-QC work on it, however I highly doubt it was far from a dud when it left the factory. I really didn't see this coming... as a Doom guy and having some inherent, incomprehensible dislike on teles since I was a kid, now it seems that my main guitar in our Doom band is now a Squier Tele. :D (Well, okay, quite a bit different than your standard one, but in its heart a Squier Tele.)
But, what the hell - at that price point it's a stellar piece. For the purpose and role on this band, it just FITS. Thanks to scale I get great feel out of it tuned in C standard, the pickups aren't too hot for my head and pedal board, and it's a joy to play. I'v heard some complaints about the feel of pots and switch, but my units are solid - no squeaks, no looseness. Some mods MIGHT be happening in the future, but there's no rush. In my hands this will become a player guitar and sure is a keeper for me.
As I understand it, Lace Sensors are constructed similarly to Jaguar pickups but they're direct drop-in replacements for strat-style pickups. You could get one of the wacky Lace rainbow three-packs and drop it into the Cyclone.
What colour would you refinish the baritone if you decide to strip it?
I think it would look dope if you kept or black and put different colour splatters on it.
loving that starcaster AND the SuperSonic (still got it ?) !!! Baritone would have been in last place for me....
That baritone is awesome!
Dude, I am SO GLAD you didn't sell any of them! This story has a happy ending!!
Ngl Im actually in absolute Love with the Cyclone. With some straplocks, Locking tuners, roller saddles a decent Steel block and some sound deadend springs it would be a dream come true.
hey Ryan see if you can get your hands on a bass vi!! be it fender/squire or whatever 30'' six string like an eastwood since u like baritones so much
Yes to more baritones, yes to more baritone content. I love my bari and my bass vi, but it feels like all of the baritone content on youtube is for metal players with a lot of gain and drop tuning.
I have a Squire Wayne's World edition. It was made in Japan and plays amazing. Always a fun guitar to pull out and jam with.
I just purchased a Starcaster online (MF) I was wondering if it was indeed a good choice for a self Christmas gift, you just sold me into it with this and another video in your channel! Awesome content and thanks!
During the intro you look like a single mom standing there with all your heathen children 😂😂😂 great video man, modern Squiers and Epiphones are great guitars for what you pay.
For the Cyclone, if you decide to keep it all Strat pickups, give the Pure Vintage '65 Strat pickups in it. I just put that set in my Classic Vibe '60s Strat and LOVE them. I just got a '59 set for another project I'm working on.
You dont have any of the 70s vibe series? My tele deluxe is probably my favorite guitar of all time..I'd kill for that baritone carbonita though or the startcaster
I really want the surf green version of that Baritone Tele. I love most of the Fender Offsets, but never got into the Cyclone or Super Sonic. I have a Danelectro baritone that I enjoy, but I'd definitely try other baritones out
I will gladly buy almost any of your instruments
They all sound so cool 👍💖🔥Love them all 💕💕💕💕💕🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
They All sound Fantastic ! but I'd pick the Starcaster😎
Really curious how the Super Sonic compares with the Mustang Bullet HH (putting aside the tuning issues)?
I dig the Ryan chord chugging...it speaks to my tryhard, grungey heart
Surprised by how much I like the sound of the Starcaster...but the baritone cabronita is definitely on my radar now
I dig the reversed headstock on the Supersonic.
I have 6 Squiers - 2 Classic Vibe & 4 Bullets, all stock ... I love them all but the Bullets , I play them the most ! ...❤️♥️💝
That baritone is amazing and there is definitely a niche for it! Both Rhett and Rabea have almost convinced this bass player to start buying up some bari guitars!
Mexico and Indonesia are building amazing instruments and we all benefit from the attention to detail!
starcaster for the win, I'm really struggling to not get one, I love your playing simply because 99.99999% of us play exactly like you, don't strip the carbonara baritone, Eddie van Halen it with stripes, Frankenstein was originally black, then he did white, then red, choose your bling brother, I truly appreciate your channel, you are one of us, bless.
If you’re looking for another baritone, have you considered just putting baritone strings on a Squier Bass VI? Makes an easy conversion and it’s got that JM/jag trem.
I've been ogleling the Gretch baritone, have you played one Ryan?
Just bought a CV Starcaster and I prefer it to even my $1500+ guitars. Fretwork is great, neck profile is perfect ( for me) and it looks fantastic. It just has a certain character to it that not many guitars have!
I agree it just stands out from the rest. As soon as I saw it I wanted it. Soon
I don’t own it at the moment but am hoping to get it soon but my favorite Squire Guitar is the Affinity Jazzmaster, I adore the Jazzmaster/ Jaguar Body Style and for a little over $200 is just Perfect for someone like me
Hi Ryan... You're the Man to ask this, I just got a 1980's Squire MIJ Stratocaster from Guitar Center, it's E 746165, What Year is it??? Your Fan Troy
Is that the affinity starcaster Ryan plays or the classic vibe?
The Cyclone is the winner in my opinion and of course I love the baritone's sound.
I have a Cyclone and love it but I broke of pf the wiggle stick in the block! …. so I am replacing that with a brass FU TONE block in it to fix it
if you do strip the baritone, i'd love to see it with a gold or champagne finish, it would look so classy with the white pickguard and pickups
That Cyclone chugging sounds like something Kim thayil would love
Cyclone with starcaster neck, would love that
Hey Ryan, so I’m a drummer and bass player who has always wanted to get into play guitar. I absolutely love the look of the Starcaster, and it seems like a little bit it may be something to work up to for a first guitar. Just wanted your input/opinion to see if that’s a good first guitar or to start with something a bit more “traditional” (squiers strat or tele). Thanks.
There is no reason why it wouldn't be a good first guitar.
I love the Super Sonic, amazing short scale.
Na "tux" (black with white pick guard) is the classic "works with everything" colour scheme, "when in doubt go tux" (also with the baritone give it a shot with it tuned down one fret to b flat .... sweet bejesus!!!)
Plan on picking up harley Benton sc-500 bk and putting A set of EMG 57/66 in it
Now I would like to see all your amps rated!
oof. thats a trickier one.
Interested in your Jazzmaaster if u rethink your list
Since I'm on a huge post-hardcore kick and love Tera Melos (Nick Reinhart apparently had a lot of input on the Super-Sonic), I'd probably have to choose the Super-Sonic as my #1 for buying based off of sound, assuming all of the play feel is equivalent. I don't like stratocaster style pups for the sound I want, so that puts the cyclone at last for me (it looks awesome though). Jazzmaster #2 for its trem, Starcaster #3.
Maybe I'm weird. I've been coveting the Univox Hi-Flier phase 2 and Ampeg AMG100 (a wood version of the clear lucite Ampeg Dan Armstrong) because of Unwound, I'm totally obsessed with them. I feel like the Jazzmaster would be the best fit for the specs on those, but the Super-Sonic sounds closest to those, tonally.
Thanks for doing what you do, Ryan! I really appreciated this break down between them all.
I love my SUPER SONIC Soooo much. It’s all your fault I bought one in January. Thanks man😎🤙
Jazzmaster and pink one ftw!!!!
Interesting observation about the increase in quality, with squier becoming the new MIM, and the current MIM becoming entry-level MIA. I had noticed the improvement but never connected the dots.
Dude, put a Duesenberg Les Trem on the Starcaster. I did it to mine and it takes it to a whole different level. (Mines a Fender, not Squier). It also stays in tune better with it installed.
I'm the Super-sonic & knuckles guy, I got a set of GFS pickups for it a alnico 2 lipstick humbucker for the bridge and a alnico 2 surf 90 for the neck. The tone knob I replaced with a CTS 500k push/pull pot. The pot is a spin-a-split for the lipstick humbucker, and the push/pull is for series/parallel. I was heavily inspired by the Danelectro XT series. I have a toronado from the paranormal series so I felt that I didnt need 2 guitars with the atomic humbuckers. I wanted a funky sound for the super-sonic, something stratty.
Ryan...just keep all of them. I think your new Squires are too new to really have a solid say. As far as baritone go look at Danelctros. You might want to check out Fender VI bass guitar or a Schecter Hellcat. They are draper than a baritone. They play different than a bass too.
BTW guitars outside of your wheelhouse will add much more to your playing. I have an active Charvel that's outside of my main guitars but I feel it will add to a style or styles my Fenders and hollow bodies.
I'd swap out the Pups on the super sonic, too aggressive for me but the body style is awesome.
I have liked the Starcaster since the first video of it.
