I truly hope youtube's algorith can reward George for all his amazing work that's been blessing my evenings for years. He deserves it, truly one of the best independent videographers on this platform..! ❤❤
I sincerely hope this isn’t the channel’s last Christmas - but if it is, then I’ll savour it all the more! Thank you so much for such brilliant content this year, and good luck with the rest of the Esprit build - it’s been a blast so far!
I'll join the chorus of people sad to hear that you're considering stepping back from making videos. I know the stop-motion adds a huge amount of work, and if that's the hangup, I'd love to watch you work on cars in a more conventional manner without the stepping back for photography. It'd make the channel a bit more generic, but it's such a joy to hear you narrate the job.
I just discovered soup this year, and now I learn it might be the last Christmas it will be on! Noooooooooooo! There's something delightfully relaxing about the time and care taken over the unique videoing and editing used. No other car show does it quite the same or nearly as well. The best we get is straightforward time lapse of spannering, not the detail of each and every screw and bracket being removed. A grown up Take Hart. Looking forward to watching the progress of the Lotus even if it is the last one.
I'm so impressed by the amount of hard manual work done on this car. This channel definitely deserves a bigger audience. Wishing you over 250K subscribers in 2025!
Merry Christmas, George and many thanks for the hours of entertainment, information and inspiration. We're never left wanting.Cheers for an equally spectacular 2025!
George eluded to this a video or so ago...man's got a family etc to look after...he has plans...workshop etc so maybe he has to 'get busy' elsewhere to make that happen...
Thank you George for all the effort you put into sharing this project with us. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and may 2025 be a fantastic one for you. Best wishes from Galway.
I would be very sad to see you step back from producing content, but the level of work involved in making these wonderful videos must take an inordinate amount of time. I don't think you are the sort of fellah who'd want to compromise on the quality, so thank you for the journey, I've enjoyed every step. My S3 Esprit has similar access holes for the front suspension but I did manage to dismantle/rebuild the whole lot without removing the bungs. All the best
George, last xmas gave me the chills, just the thought of no more Soup is hard to bare... But I guess all good things must come to an end. I wish you and your family the greatest Christmas and a superb New Year.
Merry Christmas George! In the vast YT ocean of low value flotsam and jetsam, SOUP is a beautiful island of good taste, fantastic craft (and graft!) and just an overall great attitude. Best wishes for a great New Year!
appreciate the Lotus action now, this was the car I sub'd for way back when you showed that poster on the wall and intro'd the car :) ...so I feel spoiled now for Lotus content :) thanks for everything and happy holidays.
Was 'delegated' to put up the Christmas lights last night...I started having flashbacks when you were adorning the shell with those 'luces de navidad'...anyhoo nowt better than to watch some SOUP whilst eating Aldi Chilli Rice Crackers and necking back a cup of tea..Cheers George...Merry Christmas to you and yours...
Merry Christmas buddy, while it was a bummer start the engine episode, I truly believe you respect this car based on the episodes since, the effort alone would confirm that, especially the glass clean up and repair are excellent, hope you won’t regret filling those two inspection points. Here’s looking forward to marrying the body to the chassis in 2025, after a bit of plumbing of course 😉
Well said, I spent time at a truck depot (lorry station?) there was a poster on the wall. It said ,”sechedule your vehicle for maintenance or it will schedule it for you” I agree. People too need down time.
Awesome. As as someone getting to the end of the bodywork phase of a restoration, I can tell you that you will hate sanding those ridges on the fibreglass filler. That stuff cures tough. Best of luck!
Excellent work as always. Long time follower here. Thinking it may well be my first time commencing. I especially enjoyed your acetate explanation. Merry yuletide to you and yours 🙌
Admiring your tenacity and attention to detail from Canada. Hoping you're around for many more Merry Christmases, George. Also that Beavis/#2 comment got a good chuckle.
She's pretty lit up for Christmas. When is an Esprit not pretty though? Have a relaxing and rewarding Christmas and New Year George, I for one will be getting stuck in between the celebrating while I have some time away from the desk but I'll be back for Soup in the new year. If SCM only made one video a year after the Esprit, I'll be here for it. More power to you!
Channels last Christmas! Wham! Straight in with possible depressing news right at the start, where is the Christmas festive spirit? Joy and looking forward to good things in the New Year?
Using a drill bit to stop fiberglass cracks prevents the crack from spreading. It's the same technique used on WW2 airplanes when they suffered small cracks.
So good to see it coming together. Just saw the Ian Tyrell episode on the S3 Esprit and he was talking about the rear suspension updates. Perhaps it would be a good time to do while the chassis is apart. Anyway thanks for the episode and happy holidays George!
The best fibre filler I've used is Upol B, it has no porous powder additives, so is waterproof, unlike most of the other types and is clear not coloured. If you are going all the way with repairing back to original as possible, you might want to get a matched pink gelcoat/topcoat, mix it with a bit of resin to brush on. BTW I make up small sheets of f/glass & cut them to shape for repairs, just wax a piece smooth metal or plastic then just lay it up.
For future ref, aluminium foil ( as used in the kitchen) doesn't stick to curing fibreglass. An option for closing larger holes, with a suitable backing.
I hope it’s not the last Christmas. Genuinely one of the best channels.
Totally agree!
Lovely as always Georgie. We’ll make sure Soup is around for many Christmases to come!
I truly hope youtube's algorith can reward George for all his amazing work that's been blessing my evenings for years. He deserves it, truly one of the best independent videographers on this platform..! ❤❤
Unironically my favorite series I've seen on UA-cam, and I've been here since 2005.
I sincerely hope this isn’t the channel’s last Christmas - but if it is, then I’ll savour it all the more! Thank you so much for such brilliant content this year, and good luck with the rest of the Esprit build - it’s been a blast so far!

This channel has it all. Uniquely classy and relaxing, DiY engineering. Then tops it all off by scratching that long present Esprit itch.
Ah, overhead projectors. School and uni days right there. Happy Christmas to you!
By far in the top 5 channels on youtube and hopefully not the last christmas for the channel
Xronia Polla George, thank you for keeping us entertained for another year. All the best to you and your family and we'll see you in the next year.
I can't express how much I needed this moment of calm in my holiday, thank you..
I'm so impressed by the amount of hard manual work done on this car. This channel definitely deserves a bigger audience. Wishing you over 250K subscribers in 2025!
Every upload is like Christmas Day.
Merry Christmas, George and many thanks for the hours of entertainment, information and inspiration. We're never left wanting.Cheers for an equally spectacular 2025!
Seeing the Lotus sanded back that far makes me feel it's getting reborn. Which it is, of course.
Perfectly precise and for ages!
Wait why would this be the channel's last Christmas!?
I was thinking the very same…….hopefully it’s just a Wham reference…….
@@simonhodgetts6530 Unless he meant, the LOTUS's last Christmas on the channel?
Beat me to it
the channel’s last christmas? say what
George eluded to this a video or so ago...man's got a family etc to look after...he has plans...workshop etc so maybe he has to 'get busy' elsewhere to make that happen...
Hope you have a wonderfully restful Christmas. Some nice progress on the lotus. Thankyou for your commitment

Gotta say... that Mary Kay pink fiberglass brings back memories!
Thank you for the videos they really give me comfort
Excellent work George! Have a great Christmas and relax. Us, and the car, will be here when you get stuck in again.

Great video, George. Happy Christmas, everyone!
"Now it's time for experiment number 2... heh-heh" made me snort tea out of my nose, so thanks for that
Happy Christmas
The splendid work you do is truly uplifting. 😊

So good!
Each time it's looking better, George! Happy Christmas and enjoy a break. Burnout is bad, right? Best wishes to you & family, see you next year!
Eat burn out for breakfast 😉🫣
No way this would channel’s last Christmas. Cmon George, I know you can fix up so many more cars. 🥲

Merry Christmas too. Really enjoy your videos. The car is going to be a continuous joy.

Happy Christmas to you... and everyone

Merry xmas and happy new year. I'm looking forward to the next installment - this series is great!
Aren't those holes in the footwells you've glassed up to give access to the inner lower wishbone bolts when the car is in one piece?
Came here to say same thing.
I fully expect we will will see George with a 3" hole saw reopening these access ports in the future. He should leave a trace of them for locating.
I think that's the other hole you can see at 1:12. That said, filling in access holes doesn't seem like a good idea.
What a joy to watch - and hear! Thank you - subscribed!
🤝🏼
Awesome.
As as someone getting to the end of the bodywork phase of a restoration, I can tell you that you will hate sanding those ridges on the fibreglass filler. That stuff cures tough. Best of luck!
Merry Christmas to you, and thank you for your knowledge.
Happy Holidays to you and yours. Health, wealth and happiness to you all!
All the way from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 love your project....👍

Not bad the pronunciation of my name…! Anyway I hope next year will as good as this one! Keep up the good work George.
Love it !

Masterpiece.
It's turning more and more prosthetic pink :)

And a happy Christmas to you, too, George. 👍

The holes in the floor allow access to the adjacent wishbone bolt. Cheers from Australia , Esprit 255G ...

Noooooooooooooooooooooo. Nooooooooooooooooooo. No! Not the last Christmas!
Keep pushing, you are getting there and you'll have an absolute boster of a car.. and what's this about the channel's last Christmas...??

GREAT JOB
Fairy lights giving me Automan vibes!
Oh you can't beat a good Macro shot!
Those holes in the foot wells, sure they aren't for access to something on the chassis? Christmas music was a nice touch!
Happy Christmas George.
