Get a Bielefelder rooster Breed it with a buff Orpington. You get the prettiest big reds I call them for the rooster and a light red hen But they are big Bigger than beilfelders And bigger than jersey giants
Going to be adding Jersey Giants and Delaware’s to our farm for meat and eggs purposes! Their some of my favorites alongside my Rhode Island reds and leghorns! God Bless you and your family ❤
I added Polish chickens, Golden, Silver and Candy corn polish. Plus a couple other crested breeds. I also added some Bantams and a few other breed such as Australorp, Delaware, Americana and Rhodesia Island Reds.
We have Bielelders and Black As, we love them all. We get eggs everyday from them. We have 22 hens and 2 roosters. Get from 18 to 20 eggs a day. We love the look of Bielefelders, they are beautiful.
You are so mindful of the pigs.. not everyone would think that the teenagers could get kicked out of the shelter so you're waiting until it gets a bit warmer at night... good animal husbandry at it's best
I really like colourful breeds of animals so that the individuals are easy to recognise. One day when I own a house and land I'll get me some Finnish landrace chickens🤩 For the mean time I'm making do with japanese quail ("coturnix" quail) while renting an apartment.
We've got 2 Australope chikens, among a bunch of other breeds..... They are the queens! Beautiful and selfasure, but not especially friendly! 😅😅 Lay a lot of eggs though! Been trying to find Bielefelders too, but not common in Norway unfortunately!
@@KCFarms I'm starting my own bielefelder flock and have 6 right now from Hoover hatchery also. They are barely 3 weeks old. I'm looking forward to eventually hatching out my own eggs in 7-9 months
Raising chickens for the first time this year. We just ordered a batch of egg layers. Do you have any problem with arial predators. We just moved to grandview tn btw!

Thank you for sharing this video. So miss being on in the farm. So encourage others to make the change. You won’t be disappointed.

Hoping to add some light Sussex to our flock this year. I had them about 5 years ago really liked them.
I think the Bielefelders are good looking chickens. If I close my eyes and think about a chicken, that is pretty much what I see!
We really like their coloring totally agree with you
Great video John
Thank you
Nooice!😎 STOC
American Bresse is the dual purpose we are raising.
Those seem to be pretty popular
We are thinking Easter eggers this time last was Rhode Island reds but want a more friendly chicken this time.
From combing through websites it looks like Cackles are the best layers and you see the parents on video. I like that transparency.

Road island red chicken or the smallest chicken the bantam
What did you name the two new gilts you got?
Still working on that. We need to hurry so they can be registered though
@@KCFarms for sure. Yeah, That registration can take a while sometimes!!!
Did you get roosters to be able to hatch out some to grow the flock or are you just using the eggs to sell?
Yes we would like to hatch some as well
Where do you get your bielefelders? Do you sell hatching eggs?
We got ours at Hoover hatchery we will be selling chicks this spring

Over the 4 years we have been here we have only lost 3-4 chickens to hawks
@@KCFarms oh okay. It's been one of my concerns. But our property is 90 percent wooded.
