Matador is an interesting demon/persona. I think a lot of the interest comes from the infamous fight in SMT3, which is known to act as a blocker for a lot of players due to the early game difficulty spike. I enjoyed the fight as it taught me to not only respec my team around his signature element (wind) but also to hit him with the agility debuff due to his high agility/evasion, especially as it makes him waste an action to undo it. I'm surprised his Persona move set doesn't have much representation of wind considering his focus on that element in SMT3, but I do like the inclusion of agility/evasion related skills. If you do decide to revisit him, it may be worth looking into SMT3, as well as the "Fiend" side quest he's a part of.
Thank you for the information! I've learned in making these that I really need to go play the SMT games since there seems to be a lot of design impact from them. Once I'm out of school I'll have more time and can play through them.
@@EveryPersonaExplained You're welcome. I need to play more mainline SMT as well. I dabbled a little in both SMT 3 and 5, enjoyed both but admittedly put them down in favour of other games and never went back. I like the combat system due to the strong emphasis on hitting weaknesses and covering your own, similar to Persona's. However it can be more punishing as if you miss you lose two actions and having an attack absorbed ends your turn regardless of remaining actions. As mentioned, Matador is part of the "Fiend" side quest in SMT3. All enemies have the same skull headed design (others include Hell Biker, Mother Harlet and the four Riders) but I never completed it in SMT3 so I don't know if there's more to the idea than "the Fiends share the same skull headed design".
Matador my beloved my 3rd favorite skeleton in gaming showing SMT players that buffs matter since 2003
Who're the first two?
@ sans and papyrus it’s kinda hard to top perfection
@@NeonValkyrieGaming I had a feeling it was them.
