Great Horned Owl in Downtown Windsor

  • A Great Horned Owl moved into a downtown Windsor neighbourhood.
    Victoria Avenue resident, John Powell recounts seeing and photographing the giant bird.
    Other Victoria Avenue were also able to photograph the Owl, throughout the Winter and into the early Spring.
    Update:
    It is believed that the Owl was injured and brought to WINGS Animal rehab.

    That doesn't surprise me at all. It tells me the Detroit River is healthy. I'm sure that Owl had plenty of mice rats, squirrels, and other birds. I would find the highest healthy tree and look up. That's my bet for where it's nest is. They also like electric towers but I'm not sure if there are any of those close.
    What an absolutely wonderful thing to see.
    Where I live, I have all the prey birds on my Country property. They are very interesting to observe. Wherever nature can find a place to live and have cohabitation with humans, it will.
    You just have to go outside and be still and observe you'll see them. They are there.

    I'm from Windsor and I've never seen an owl in the wild anywhere! Very cool!
