I lived in Aldershot around 2001/2 and we used to sneak into the ground through a whole fence in the back. Watched Chelsea reserves there a couplenof times as well. Good times! Doesn't look like the ground's changed much, but the atmosphere and standard are much better!
@@no_soy_rubio I’ll bet it hasn’t changed much at all since then! Although I have seen they are looking to do some improvements at some point. I’m not sure what the crowd are like week in week out but for this one it’s probably the best in non league football at the very least!
@@the_footballtourist we average different attendances depending on how we are doing. Last season around 3000+ home fans and then some additional ones away but this season it's more 1800 at home

Unfortunately, with the media’s obsession with only the top end of one league, there are dozens of proper derbies* down the pyramid that are completely ignored which in terms of atmosphere beat hands-down anything involving the usual ‘big’ name teams. Not sure I would particularly elevate Aldershot v Woking above any number of others, but it is a good example of a great derby well worth attending if you are a neutral. * Not always near neighbours: Norwich v Ipswich is a proper derby in spite of the distance, Palace v Brighton is not.
@@elaineblackhurst1509 That was more the aim than anything, of course the title was a bit of hyperbole but at the end of the day the atmosphere at games like this have a far better atmospheres than those higher up the pyramid that’s for sure. @ You’re right, though l don’t think there is any such thing as a ‘biggest’ or ‘best’ derby at all as any derby at any level is most important to supporters concerned, whilst City v Utd, Newcastle v Sunderland, Luton v Watford, Curzon Ashton v Ashton Utd, or any number of London derbies are pretty much meaningless.
Aldershot have the most passionate fans in non league absolutely! However I would say the Cheltenham vs FGR derby is more intense and bigger. Woking are just not passionate fans in comparison to the Shots.
@ Thank you very much! If it’s on the fixture list next season I’ll definitely try and get there. I’ve heard Yeovil vs Weymouth is quite a feisty one too, not sure if you can confirm?
@ nice one, hopefully we get promoted this year to get it back on next year! 👌😊 Yeah, Yeovil, Weymouth is a good one. A lot of the South West Derbies are very feisty and understated mate.
Cheltenham v FGR? Is that a rivalry born in the Doc martens league in front of 500 fans?😂 even as a Shots fan, I think in comparison you need to give Woking more credit here. 😅
Awsomme old ground on my list for a revisit. Great to see such a massive crowd.
@@1984aok 100% a brilliant ground with so much character! If you can wait for this fixture next season I would highly recommend it

The volume on your voice when in the ground (especially in your opening piece and in the second half) could do with being louder.
