I will be privileged to be laying wreaths on behalf of the Bordeaux & SW FRance Branch of the Royal British Legion over the next week in various locations covering the raid. I live on the Gironde Estuary and it is a very dangerous stretch of water. Only Hassler and Sparks made it back to the UK. The rest perished, some drowned and some murdered by the Germans. We WILL remember them!

It is an unfortunate fact the individuals will believe what they want to believe no matter what the evidence proves. ... none of the men drowned, two died of hypothermia. All wore reliant lifejackets. If your privileged to be part of a memorial at least get the facts correct AND spell the names of the men correctly, otherwise it's just a hallow effort. Hasler is not spelt 'Hassler'!
One fears even this correction will be ignored.
