    My dad had a Fiat Strada in London, the late 80s. Faded green. I remember the round headlights, unique wheels, cool door handles, offset hood scoop and the pyramid shaped shifter boot. He blew it up on the motorway when he was late for an appointment. Rest in Peace Radko Popov, miss you dad.

    I had a few Stradas back in the 80s but never one like yours it's amazing.... I started with a two door 70cl W reg light blue cracking car then a 75 cl then of course the face lift 75 with twin head lights wow happy days wish I could own one now....

    I had a 1979 Strada that I purchased used in December of 1981 from a dealership. By late 1983 it was rusting out around the A pillars pretty badly and water was leaking into the interior. I sold it not long after that. Not factoring the rust, it was a fun to drive little car while I had it.

    Miss mine, C170 GKW about the only reg I can remember from all the cars I've owned. Most fun to drive of any car I had, only front drive car that I have driven that you could steer with the throttle. All my friends with GTis and GTes and Escorts were always trying to beg a drive. So nice to see one in such good order

      Pentagram Motorsport Agreed, mine (B515 VBX) had the Solex carbs which I fitted some nice shiny K&N filters to, coughed & spluttered if you prodded the throttle before it took off - great memories 😎

    Such a shame there aren't many left of the Strada/Ritmo as it was called where i live. Always liked this shape. To me it's SO a car of the age. Brings back good memories.

      @@c7uk I was a occupied with other stuff when i wrote my comment. I meant i like the shape of the Ritmos in generel. I like both of them. If i were to choose a version for a fast Ritmo, or a very well equipped one, i would go for the one in the video. ..but when i talk about them being a car of that age, i think of the mk1. It's an icon, nothing less.

    • @c7uk
      @c7uk 5 років тому

      JohnnyNr5 - don’t worry, I understood. I was just stating my preference as I always felt the mk2s looked a little ‘generic’ compared to the mk1. I never liked the Strada moniker either - Ritmo was how I first came to know it in Italy 🇮🇹

    • @jo05dk
      @jo05dk 5 років тому +1

      @@c7uk Here in Denmark it was sold as the Ritmo too. From what i understood it was called Strada in english speaking countries, for some damn reason.
      A Seat version, the Seat Ronda, makes the Ritmo mk2 look pretty good, even to those of you who don't really care for it i think. It has a very Renault 18 looking front. Weird combination :)

      My Uncle got a black 130TC from new. He used to drive it pretty hard, which was enormous fun when I was the passenger! My cousin bought it off him after a few years but it was written off while being towed! Anyway, I bought those seats off my cousin and still have them to this day!

    FIAT should do to this magic car what Mini did to the Cooper S. Try to keep the magic of the original tied together with new design, shocks, etc. If they did it well, it would sell like hot cakes. LOVE IT.

    Wonder how many pre-facelift (1979-83) examples are there left? You know, the ones like those shown on that legendary two-minute launch ad. The one here is a face-lift, where they were a little less rust prone.

      I'm pleased you have an excellent 130TC currently SORN. Ours was SORN for 6 months a couple of years ago to wait out the winter and like yours is not/was not a basket case. However excluding those that drop in and out of SORN the vast majority of SORN 130TCs are in really poor condition. From a documentary point of view, and actually being interviewed and videoed cold footed so to speak, I was only trying to portray the sad state of affairs for these cars. We need to get our 130TCs together some time :)

    So NOT surprised to hear the guy say body trim is a nightmare to get. FIAT never really gave a stuff about looking after owners of it's older cars. Had a 124 Coupe back in the day & couldn't get any new sheet-metal to repair car in 1983, < 8 years after production ended. Ex Fiat USA marketing guy I met back in 1990 told me that after they pulled out of USA in "81 they turfed ~ 150 tonnes worth of 124, 850, X/19 etc parts overboard off east coast of US as Turin didn't want to pay the inventory costs.
    Best in class technical dept back in the day but their arrogant & cynical management really sucked balls.
    #1 in Europe in 1970, # nowhere now. .....Says it all....
