I was told by my gynocologist to lose weight (PCOS, for which I will also begin to take Metformin) so I read on PCOS-forums that the mediterranean diet was really good, so I decided to try it out, and went on your site. It has been a stable for the last few weeks, and I want to continue with this diet even after my weight is at where I want it to be, because this is the first time I've eaten for weight loss and not felt hungry or craving sugar afterwards. I still have to get used to counting calories, but my sugar cravings are easier to deal with now. Plus the food is really good!
Thank you so much for this. This was super helpful, as I just got diagnosed with celiac last week and don't know what to eat!! Your energy is so uplifting! Subscribed. :)
I would love to try the Mediterranean diet but am low FODMAP ( with a few exceptions- I can have dairy, wheat, apples and pears). I use the Monash app. I use garlic infused EVOO in lieu of garlic and shallot greens or leek greens in place of onion. Please could you suggest recipes I could try.
@@Mediterraneanliving that’s excellent news! I look forward to it and will promote your recipes in a FB support group here in Australia when the recipes appear. 👏
Thank you for doing the gluten free version of things! I am loving the med diet except for one small issue, all the dairy. My husband is GF and I am DF. What do mediterraneans do when it comes to dairy intolerance/allergy? I could use some info about that.
Traditionally, in the Mediterranean, they didn't have a lot of cow dairy, but mostly had goat milk and cheese. For some who are intolerant to cow dairy, they are able to eat some goat dairy and are fine. If you can't do that than there are lots of alternatives such as nut milks and lactose free dairy products. You can also just leave the dairy out of it.
@@Mediterraneanliving Thank you! Much easier said than done, though. No dairy of any kind, I've even tried sheep and yak. Something about it just doesnt work for me. Almond milk seems to help with cooked items, but my favorite difficulty is creamer for my coffee. Soy is no longer on my list, used to be my favorite for coffee, but alas, no longer. Back to the milking machine for me! Keep up the gluten free versions please! I am always looking to server my husband something besides eggs.😂
@@wendybussell7534 Coffee and cream as a drink is not mediterrenean ;) Get off of it (it's just a habit) and have creamy sweet dishes instead, there is a lot out there, like also raw banana icecream. Sesame and coconut (next to almonds) are among the creamy plant blessings. Aquafaba could do sth but I wouldnt prefer to have lectin liquid. Best wishes
@@dukenegju Thank you! A very hard habit to break as i was weaned on coffee with milk,55years ago, LOL. I do make really good, creamy, puddings, and ice creams with almond and coconut milks. I appreciate your reply.
@@wendybussell7534 I know, I was sold the marketing of (black though) coffee with tons of sugar, when I stopped it some time I saw that it's more than enough having a plate of sweeet with it. Today I don't even drink coffee anymore. There are addictive compounds in the milk, that possibly make the baby stay strongly with the mother, so it's a tricky one, and easy one when you distance yourself from it for some time you realize it yourself. I do though - very very seldom, but Im fine with it - have coffee the traditional way where I even grind the beans by myself and then I celebrate it. Also closing one door, opens another one; and letting go makes room for others (usually better ones) and new entire universes can come in :) There are lot of creamy dishes that go with coffee like tiramisu (also possible in vegan). There is a Swiss company that offers come cream made of Almonds ( and I'd say its a good choice because of its mild taste - other than soy, which Im not fond of), but I don't know whether its suitable from its consistence. shop.soyana.com/en/desserts/organic-almond-whipping-cream-250gr Youre welcome! Most of these are not Mediterrenean. Why hyping the cuisine and then acutally changing it ... Also I don't get the gluten thing, since you are supposed to actually walk on a healthy line, but then instead of gluten having tons of eggs hmm. Just stay true to your region, take old traditional grains and cook them well. Live balanced, in food and in movements, in thoughts and social things. Love
