Mississippi AIM Walleye Stop #1 - Genoa, WI

- Greeted by an approaching flood and winter storm, we did our best to figure out a good bite for the first qualifier of the new AIM River Division. We were mostly trolling 3-way rigs and stick baits to target some smaller fish down from the dam. Lots of floating debris to contend with didn't help the tough bite but we did our best to work a pretty small pod of fish for a couple days.
If you enjoy fishing the Mississippi, please consider signing up for one of the new AIM events this year. Looking forward to learning more about the river!

It's cool to see someone fish an area I have visited. Last time there I fished the barge at Genoa.
Please continue to film for us to enjoy!
Will do!
Really enjoying the tournament stuff, hope the series continues!
I’ll try my best, thanks!
How close are you to the dam?
@@ronnyk6263 not far we didn't have enough time to look over the whole pool.
Man I miss those Mississippi River tournament days !! Brings back great memories 👍👍
Just stumbled onto your channel Joe! I absolutely love these videos! Watching em all! Keep up the amazing content!
I have had luck years back when it is like that jigging the eddies at mouths of inlets with leeches or tossing shad cranks in flooded side channel/backwaters.
Great job, thank you for sharing the video!
Thanks Matt!
Great info Joe and as always good luck
Thanks Jeff!
Thank you joe for the content
Thanks for watching!
Got to watch them big weights flying around thoes big electronics lol
😂😂
Heck yeah. I got some pretty good males in there and just down from the boat ramp there just pulling a single floating rap with a weight.
Nice! They were sure stubborn that weekend. Thanks again for the save🙏
Love the tournament videos, Joe! How do you like the AIM events? Pondering the June event on pools 3, 4, 5 to get some experience fishing a big boy tournament.
Thanks! Love the AIM format it’s way easier to just take a picture, write it down and go back to fishing. Give it a shot!
@@joeokada Maybe we will! Best of luck the rest of the season and look forward to seeing more videos.
I love the insight into what you do. Any chance your filming / fishing any NWT events this yr ?
Thanks! I was hoping to be at Oshkosh NWT but bad schedule conflicts with their events this year.
Well good luck this season i will be tuning in with my note pad that's for sure...
Hey Joe what is the model and make of those glass internal rods again? I want to find some for when we dont want to use Handlines with 5-8oz weights
I believe they were called depthmaster interlines. Close to 15-20 years old I think. Looked all over the web for some used ones I’d love to get a few more just to last my lifetime lol
@@joeokada ya I couldn't find any line through rods other than ocean.
You don't have a kicker motor?
Not on this boat, no.
Why did you decide not to get a kicker on this boat?
I was originally setting this boat up for 1 on 1 events and the control I gain with twin Power-Poles is amazing.
@@joeokada if you're on a lake and calm conditions with your power poles in the water how slow can you troll?
@@mattioder about 1.6. If I want slower you can get away with electric.
@@joeokada and you believe a big part of this switch was because you're doing less searching by trolling and doing more precise casting with active target?
@@mattioder sometimes, yes. There are many times you're just better off putting out as many lures as possible and plowing through miles of water but if there's a 2 rod limit per boat it significantly increases the chances of ffs holding its own.
Basically doing everything wrong to be on big fish. Go back to lakes. Leave the rivers to us people who actually know what we are doing.
No way, I like learning. Jump in the next one and show us how it’s done!
