You are now just seeing Erics true colors he has never cared about anyting but himself and growing his channel and he used suicide and mental health as a disguise. just a lot of people got fooled. Anyone who calls eric out is considered a hater. I believe you are being fooled by Eric.

    • @AccordingtoJexi
      @AccordingtoJexi  3 роки тому +1

You may be completely right. I can believe that he only pretended to care about people to grow his channel. They would absolutely fit right in with his brand. I wouldn't say I'm being fooled as I'm not in denial just hopeful that he'll change before he causes anymore harm. Do I think he'll actually do that? No. But I'm hopeful, not necessarily because I care so much about him, but he continues to harm vulnerable people who have no idea they are being used. I know I sound naive in this video but it's more just me trying to hope for the best in everyone. But again perhaps you are right and he was never a good person.

Yes! I absolutely agree! If he was acting this way around a fully adult audience, I wouldn't watch, but I wouldn't be as concerned about the harm he is causing. He has an audience made up of mental ill children who ask him for help daily. I really worry that if he doesn't stop soon there is going to be irreplaceable harm. He can say he isn't an advocate anymore but when your audience is all children who view you that way, you still have a responsibility to them. It's just all so hard to watch. Thanks so much for commenting! 💜

Hi Jexi! Thank you for your courage in posting this video. I remember you've talked about the term "advocate" before and the problematic connotations that can come with using it. I am not terribly familiar with this gentleman but from what you've shared, it sounds like he's not in the best place mentally. One of the hardest things about addiction is that it is a disease that wants to exist, that wants to resist treatment, and it's extremely successful at convincing the patient that they don't even have it. A few thoughts: I definitely agree that either you are working the steps, or your addiction is working you. Recovery is not something we engage in once, or once a month, it's something we must engage with every day, even every second. After an incredibly painful personal experience that landed me in rehab with high liver enzymes, I am, 1000%, against using kratom as a means of recovery. Yes, I went to rehab for kratom, and only kratom. I'd rather go cold turkey off bupenorphine than touch that stuff again. But I can only speak for my own person with that. Let's be honest, recovering addicts have an uncanny way of noticing when someone has slipped up. I remember realizing one of my good friends had relapsed because-- get this-- I saw the way she was shopping for groceries. But I was right! I don't know what the best way is to intervene with newly relapsed addicts, especially when they are still in the denial phase of the disease, and I wish I had an answer. I remember interventions used to be popular, and while they are clearly not perfect, I'm not sure if I know a better way. I think it's important that the recovery community be proactive in helping those among our number who have relapsed, especially when they occupy such a public space like social media. We all know with our 11th tradition how damaging that can be. I hope this person gets the assistance that they need and deserve. It's been a horrific year, for addicts and everyone else. But it is important to remember that that is not a justification for using. There is no justification for using, aside perhaps from the decision of a doctor in times of severe health. I hope you are doing well!

Hey Eric!! So great to hear from you!! Thanks so much for this super well thought out comment. I absolutely agree with everything you said. I have zero experience with Kratom and that's why I stay away from judging it at all. I personally believe that taking any kind of substance like that can end up being harmful for addicts. Though I try not to let my thoughts and experiences impact how I speak about another person's recovery program. There are also some really serious allegations about him. If you check tik tok you'll see that he is constantly called a groomer and called out for speaking inappropriate to minors. He's a hot mess and I hope he figures it out because he may end up losing absolutely everything. Anyway I hope you have a great rest of your week and I want to thank you again for commenting! ☺💜💜💜

Hey again, Jexi!! You'll have to excuse my roundabout comment as I watched this video in parts and in between them got lost in another content creator's ... whirlwind so to speak. For now, I am more intrigued by this reluctance regarding the term "mental health advocate" as I use that term I believe in a few of my online descriptions, I'll have to check out your video on it some time this upcoming week. As for Eric, yeah it's super disappointing what happened. I'm glad that you're still speaking up on it even if it's in a different way and I hope you don't get a lot of hate flocking your way because of it!! You don't deserve that and Eric kinda needs the heat on him right now because of how much things are going downhill and how he's not taking responsibility for his actions.
I like that you emphasized it was his own digging and his own responsibility to get out of the hole he's dug--I think that's a great metaphor and really helps to highlight both your concerns and the reality that he is now finding himself having to face online, because as we're all told, the Internet does not forget. Yeah, I'd maybe check out that advocate video briefly now or shelf it for later, I want to edit a video tonight so I can upload it tomorrow evening. My time's a little tight right now. I had my breaks and all ahaha.
Thanks for making this video though and getting out some of your thoughts! Maybe you could film a video of some of your values and what leads you in your recovery? That could be interesting! Or even what are some short or long term goals you're working on, what keeps you going in recovery, etc.
See you again soon! I'm gonna try and stop by the Wed trivia night if I don't forget! 😁😎🤗
    All the best. xxx
PS I didn't watch the official video on this matter about Eric but I did see that he may have doxxed someone who spoke about him so I am also wary when it comes to that too (in regards if I would reach out to him). It may be safest to spend time away from him and what he's doing, especially if he may be under the influence of things he could be engaging in. Your recovery and your health is what matters #1 so it's okay to take breaks and move away from things!! 🖤💙💛💜
PPS My condolences for your losses lately and to those who haven't made it further in their recoveries.

@@AccordingtoJexi Heyyy Jexi!! How did your weekend go? It was super great to comment on your stuff and watch some of your videos. 😂🥰 I can't wait to jump back in (maybe not tonight though ahaha) and check out your other content. 😇🥳 For sure!! It's tough when you form this one idea about someone and then that gets tarnished in some manner. It stinks too because we don't know at what point that happened, and at what point things could have gone differently. If you really think about it all too much you may start thinking of alternate dimensions and parallel universes with how things could have been different--of course, 20/20 hindsight from what actually happened in this world will open up all those possibilities and endless amounts of variables and different potential endings. A little too big brain for me though!
It honestly freaks me out how cult-like UA-cam has become these days (the darkest parts of humanity can be preserved and worshiped) and how a following can lead to some disillusionment combined with the real possibility that some creators start to think of themselves differently and conduct themselves in inappropriate ways (that arguably maybe they wouldn't have without their level of power) and think they can just get away with it. Or even just how anyone with a lick of constructive or harsh criticism is out to get them and so is discounted and ruled as insignificant or "just the haters" in their perspective. It's actually a phenomenon that's getting quite disturbing (and more and more prevalent).
But, back to lighter topics, I'm glad you think the ideas sound good!! I hope the video comes out swell, which I bet it will coming from you!! 😁 Let me know when they're up if you have a chance and I'll make sure to beeline my way to them ahaha. Sending you light and love from a few states over! 😊😎

@@RaqoverytoWellness I absolutely will!! Yea I totally agree that it seems that people just believe whatever they see online without putting in any critical thought. I'm actually a philosophy major so I love discussing complex topics. I just hope humanity wins out in the long run. I also agree that it seems like once someone's ego takes over they look at all criticism as being hate. It's really unhealthy. I mean sure nobody wants to have a ton of hate thrown their way but its hard when someone does something so crappy and refuses to take accountability for it. I know my channel will never get big enough for me to really worry about but regardless I do my best to stay true to my beliefs and simply share my experience. This ensures I never come off as trying to be better than I am. I figure if I can stay humble and honest on this channel I will be okay! ☺💜

@@AccordingtoJexi Gah, UA-cam is glitching a little so I can't go back and see the full length of our replies. I'll just have to go by what you've said here haha. Aaa, so true! I definitely can be pretty naive and gullible myself so if someone says they meant X when their body language or other intention was Y, I'll just believe them. I don't use a lot of intuition or instinct or deeper analysis I think, but sometimes I'm also good at practicing more skepticalness so I don't fall for phishing scams, so I suppose it's a process ahaha.
Oh nice!! My friend majored in Philosophy and Psychology. 😊 I majored in Psych (BS) myself.
It is super unhealthy. It definitely also makes a layer of unrest for the viewer as well, I can think of a couple eating disorder channels that fall into this mess, for the viewer because they try to tackle it from every angle but if a person doesn't want help or isn't ready to admit they have an issue and are unwilling to work on themselves for the better, then, really what CAN we do? It's tough. 😣
I think that's really great though overall! Sticking to your truth and your values is so important and that's better I think than selling out to views or numbers and things. You're careful about what you say and try really hard to be fair and lay out where you're coming from and it really shows. I can't see you getting into problems but I think even if you did you'd handle it well and you wouldn't play dirty. That's awesome. Keep striving for being better and you'll get there with an audience!! I was involved in his community a yearish ago, trying to explain why his whole thing was dangerous and arrogant. He has tiktoks lying about his ex wife's suicide story. He has always been obsessed with subscribers and followers. He has always used the attention like a drug. I'm afraid actually compassionate people got taken advantage of. Dee thank you for being so sweet. I started UA-cam a little over 2 years ago and he was one of the first people who supported my channel. His channel was still pretty small and he hadn't started tik tok yet. I would say it wasn't long before he started getting obsessed with having a larger following. What he did to his tik tok audience from the beginning was not okay. He found a way to manipulate the algorithm to gain followers fast and then kept them by manipulation. He did one video where he shared that he knew that all of this was wrong but like a day later he reverted his claims and spoke like he was the victim. My daughter is in his prime tik tok demographic and it worries me to no end the amount of real harm he may be inflicting on his viewers. I will never forget how he shared in a video that he apparently was the last person to speak to a teen before that teen committed suicide. He shared that because he thought he was the hero for speaking to the teens parents when they reached out and asked for any info he had. I would be mortified and probably never recover if I found out I was the last person to speak to a teen before they chose to end their own life. I couldn't understand how he didn't see right there that he was potentially a problem.
