As a South African myself I understand where brother is coming from, because things are at the point where decent/good paying jobs don't even look at you if you don't have a degree of any kind. The fact he is 22 and makes 5K is impressive. He is a asshole for not wanting to help but he also isn't because from what it sounds like he is around covering more than what 5K allows. Also what is the step-dad doing, because it sounds like he is doing fuck all
I don't think he doesn't want to help, I think it's more about the amount. He earns 5k a month, so she should be taking more than 1-2k.
