- Neil Diamond's 1969 hit 'Sweet Caroline' has become the unexpected anthem for England at Euro 2020, as the team heads to their first major tournament final since 1966.
From USA to our ENGLAND FANS ACROSS World ... SWEET CAROLINE !!!!! WE will watching on Sunday from all over the USA from Florida to Hawaii Come on England !!! Good Luck
They should fly Neil Diamond in for the final - that's what the whole world wants to see and sing to.
God Bless England 🙏
Because it's fitting. Post covid-19,and getting together never felt better. Case in point love wins
Cos we are
And we can
@@warrenmudge6112 that also! Love it,just saying
@@warrenmudge6112 yup
@@neutral7526 where are you
Cause it's fun to sing in a large group and always sounds good
The DJ acting as if he came up with the idea to randomly play Sweet Caroline at a sporting event...
😂
No he's just acting like he's the one who popularised it for this tournament, which he did
It’s sung at boxing and cricket
It’s sang in loads of English sports
its weird
It was originally American but American was originally British
lmao
Well if you read the lyrics it's fairly easy
"Where it began, I can't begin to knowing
But then I know it's growing strong
Was in the spring
And spring became the summer
Who'd have believed you'd come along"
Who would have predicted England beat Germany, win 4-0 in a quarter final and make it to the final of the Euros a month ago? - "Who'd have believed you'd come along"
"Good times never seemed so good
I've been inclined
To believe they never would"
England fans never believed we would but they have.
And when I hurt
Hurting runs off my shoulders
How can I hurt when holding you"
Chris Powell a first team coach showed the players a clip of southend supporters singing it on the coach after yet another defeat in 2018 when Chris Powell was southend manager. Its on you tube. He kept the video on his phone and showed the england players the passion of the fans even after relegation was looming. RON MARTIN OUT
Its sung at boxing matches
i guess that makes it okay lol
Boxing fans being singing the song for last 10 years
So have football mate even longer
The Boston Red Sox have been playing it for 24 years.
@@literallyshaking8019 its not a competition, it literally said that in the video we all know
@@Bholmes17 boxing is wayyyyy better than football
@@AK_AVFC don’t be silly mate. Boxing is nothing like it used to be.
its been sung at cricket grounds for years
lol that makes sense lmao
Tutti d'Europa tifo l'Italia.
Signing song from a different country is fine but using as a anthem is weird. The song is used for a team, Boston Red Sox
Check out Aston Villa v Everton Sweet Caroline.
As I was walking down Wembley way I noticed god coming out the VIP section, I said God there's a pandemic going on where have you been all year, he turned to me and whispered in my ear I've been at home son just home 💯🏴🏴🏴
It's a boxing song
It has been associated with English cricket for at least 4 years
still not english but go ahead lol
We have always sang sweet caroline. It's an English song 🙈
Well its american but sang better over here
Such an English song. Sung by the great Englishman Neil Diamond 🤦♂️
@@joevictor53 Neil's American......Jus' sayin.....Come on England!
@@walshaw2 Google the word, "sarcasm"
kind of sad that your song was written and performed by an american lmao, you guys had the best rock and roll bands ever and yet you are singing a song made by an american.
They're singing it because they heard northern ireland football fans singing it whilst at a match against them and they liked it. UA-cam "Norn iron sweet Caroline" and you see northern ireland football fans have used it for many many years. It's a good song.
The Red Sox have been playing it since the 90s
@@literallyshaking8019 the English like copying America. 😌
@@sherlynfernandes8864 I’m not mad, music is for everyone and I think the term “cultural appropriation” is one of the most asinine terms ever conceived by humans.
I do however find it ironic when you hear people claim “You copied it from Northern Ireland” or “you nicked it from Boxing fans” when in reality the Sox have been playing it as an anthem for 24 years (and I’m a NY Yankees fan, their biggest rival). Credit where credit is due.
@@literallyshaking8019 I know the Red sox have been playing it for years, hence I commented.
Yea I read that the red sox sang it for ages yesterday, it's a great song. Different ball game tho.
The point I was making was that English football fans will have heard it blasting from Northern Ireland'S football grounds during friendly and competition matches when they were playing against us. Especially when we beat them 4 years ago. Google it. We changed the lyrics to "sweet norn iron" there's a big history with us singing it as our football anthem for many many years. UA-cam "sweet norn iron" like I say and you'll see the dates it goes back in Northern ireland football history.
We adopted it as it inspires our team thru good and bad.
They just copied us, plain and simple.
No hatred tho, I'm glad they find inspiration from it :)
But the English fans definitely got the inspiration of singing it from hearing our fans singing our lungs out at matches.
Sure why not, it's a great song.
Because they nicked it from the boxing fans that's why!
And the boxing fans nicked it from red sox, don't act like they were the first.
@@he-dp3mk Red Sox? WTF? So you guys were singing that in the 80s yeah?
who knicked it by the americans lol
Cheers to England
Sweet Caroline is England’s song
written by an american though? you guys had Queen, The Beatles, Rolling Stones.. yet you are using a song from the US.
William 1992
What a load of bull, he got it from when Aston Villa won the play off final and were promoted

because they wanna be american lol
What a load a rubbish. It’s not the anthem of England!! Anthem of the tournament? lol. You guys couldn’t have an original thought if your life depended on it. Still singing the same song thats 25 years out of date! Nobody has told me yet why football is coming home? England has never won the Euros. And the modern game was actually invented in Scotland 😂😂. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
