Summary: BE WELL ROUNDED - Have a good defence: Escapes from pins and subs, good guard retention and not being held in pins for long - Have a good offence: from guard - sweeps/reversals and submissions, be well rounded in offensive positions, passing positions, good at standing positions incl. Guard pulling, submissions from multiple positions, pins and submissions from pins, subs in transition e.g. seeing opportunity, well rounded submission game. Games for each sub section rather than just one overall. Positions, techniques and systems based on your body type and attributes that favour you best. You'll find that you favour positions above others and develop systems above that.
Please keep this kind of content up. Big, overarching ideas. The barrier of entry for this sport is so high, with so many techniques, that it's so easy to get lost in technique chasing instead of being growth oriented.
Great content that gives a lot of value. Much more than just a technique video. But Giancarlo, the cuts with sudden zoom changes are quiet irritating and disturbing when watching. Please, keep creating this content!
For developing pin escapes, would you advise putting myself in bad positions during live rolling by letting people pass my guard on purpose & then escaping? I heard 2 contradicting oppinions on that topic - some people say I shouldn't do that because it builds bad habits in terms of guard retention, others encourage letting your guard get passed. Just wondered what's your oppinion on that. Would you advise I let people pass my guard in order to practice pin escapes as a broad topic in live rolling for the next 3 weeks? :)

Great channel 👍 love these conceptual videos. Could you do video on how to maintain back control against the most common escapes?
Thanks for making these videos! Any tips on strength in conditioning? Do you have a good weight lifting routine you would recommend?

As a 47 year-old purple, this is gold.
So, you have an ADCC world champion uploading content for free to teach you stuff. Can't get better than that.
👍👍👍
Thank you for this.
Just curious, do you take it personally when Gordon criticizes you for losing?
Osss
Don't forget the tren. Key to a solid game.
