      @@ManiVijay My maternal grandfather might know them but he's no more now. Also They left mithapur in 2000 by that time i was just 14. Mithapur was like a small family town , almost everyone knew each other at that time. New people replaced the old ones who took vrs. Old ones are either no more or have shifted to other cities now. Still the silent streets roads and beach are same as old that gave me so much peace.😊

    I don’t know, as time goes on my appreciation for these blasts from the past only increases. Something classic about all of it, something that unfortunately can’t easily be found today. I still go back to my liked videos from 10 years ago and among all the deleted and private videos, watch them with nostalgia. Your videos are superb and filled with memories that are invaluable, keep up the great work!

    This train is pride of saurashtra region.
    My native is saurashtra rajkot.
    Still but this region has single diseal track.
    Due to this trains gets late. Duranto Express has been extended upto rajkot but timings of reaching rajkot is same as of Express train it takes almost upto 5hours between AHMEDABAD and rajkot. Premium train humsafar has been introduced but same time taking almost 12 to 13 hours to reach rajkot.
    And coverage of trains for porbandar via rajkot is not even though it has broad gauge track.

    • @ManiVijay
      @ManiVijay  5 років тому +1

      I agree completely. I don't know why they have given so much slack for Duronto from ADI to RJT? It should be at least 1/2 hour faster. And Mumbai does not even have a superfast to Porbandar - that is horrible.

    • @hiteshpatel5693
      @hiteshpatel5693 5 років тому

      @@ManiVijay and even why duranto has given surendranagar halt...instead of this they shud give BORIVALI...which will be more beneficial for gujju crowd which stays near borivali.
      And they shud start one daily super fast train for porbandar via rajkot, jetalsar ...
      And they shud add breakfast in duranto for rajkot passengers...

    • @hiteshpatel5693
      @hiteshpatel5693 5 років тому

      @D Roy Rajdhani is different train. I m not speaking about rajdhani....August kranti rajdhani has been given a halt at vapi and valsad...too...what is the meaning of such halts...for premium Express...
      I m talking about only rajkot duranto the passengers so this train mainly reside nearby BORIVALI. After giving halt to BORIVALI this train will get more priority than saurashtra mail...for people staying nearby BORIVALI to catch duranto had to leave BORIVALI by 9.30...
      Instead of this they will be more easy to catch saurashtra mail which leaves BORIVALI at 10.20pm at reaches before duranto at around 10.20am. Ì
      A what is the premium train?
      Duranto almost reaches rajkot taking almost 11.30 to 12 hours...
      Newly introduced JAMNAGAR humsafar takes almost 12.30 to 13 hours to reach rajkot what is the use of paying premium and dynamic fares and reaching at the same speed of normal Express timings .

    Hi Mani, after my mother passed away in end Jan. 2015, followed by my father in law in June/July the same year, I was depressed and took a tour of Dwarka, On my return, I initially went by road from Dwarka to Beth Dwarka which is in Okha and from Okha Jn. I took 19006 Saurashtra Mail till Jamnagar. From Jamnagar, I took 19269 PBR-MFP, in which interestingly I had a ticket till GZB but it stopped at SBB my town where I comfortably got down.At Dwarka I visited both Dwarkadheesh and Nageshwar Jyotirlingam temples. There is also a wonderful temple for Rukmini, as the lone deity outside Dwarka. I remembered all this on seeing this video on Saurashtra Mail.
    (PS: The magical ride I had in 12951 Rajdhani between MMCT-NDLS is still afresh in my memory, I just loved it. So, I might suddenly plan a whirlwind journey, just for the heck of it, NDLS-MMCT by 22210 Duronto, which will reach MMCT by 16.15 I think, and at MMCT I plan to call my school friend or some railfans, and immediate board the 12951 Rajdhani back to Delhi (within 45 mts. of reach MMCT) at 5 pm. THIS IS HOW CRAZY I AM AS A RAILFAN!! :-)

      @@ManiVijay ha ha. yeah both Maha SK and 22209 operate twice a week, so it should be possible, I think if you take Maha SK at night from NZM and come back by 22209 in quick time, if not on the same day as you reach... 22209/10 I must confess, has the most convenient departure times (near midnight) of most trains. I love its schedule but rue the fact that 22209 barely averages 82 kmph overall, while the absolute king, the 12951 nearly touches 89 kmph. The afternoon night ride in 22435 to Delhi by Vande Bharat that I took just after the Kumbh mela to Varanasi, 769 kms. covered in 8 hrs flat at 96.125 hrs. was also unforgettable. real good work by ICF in making the VB rakes, but I suspect that like the Katra VB, all subsequent VBs across zones in India, will be a lot slower and most might average only between 83-85 kmph. Katra VB covers around 655 kms. in 8 hrs. at 81.875 kmph.

      Again it depended on the region. In SR, especially Metre Gauge, the maintenance was of the highest standard. You could literally wipe the floor and sleep on it. In prestigious trains, they would make sure to minimize or eliminate unreserved passengers. Comfort is definitely better now with LHB. Locos seems superior now as well, though I dearly miss WAM2/4. There was certainly more pride in trains by staff and commuters alike. More distinctive and uniform liveries including matched locos. Rajdhanis were treated like God. In the 80s, for the Bombay Rajdhani, they would close the doors 10 minutes before departure. Excellent food and service. You could see how the staff just loved the Rajdhanis. And they wouldn't allow us to open doors and peep out. All that has gone for a toss. I could go on and on about the Golden Years of IR - the 70s and 80s.

    Mani, you mention non-ICF MG coaches, if so, who made them? When I visited the BRC-ADI-VM-RJT-Dwarka-Okha section, it was double up to VM but electrified only up to ADI. All lines to all parts of Gujarat from VM are single, be it to Surendranagar, to Veraval/Somnath, to PBR via Hapa/Jamnagar, to Okha, to Bhuj all are/were single. what is the status now? any hint of electrification of Gujarat lines by WR??

    • @ManiVijay
      @ManiVijay  5 років тому

      Good question! Wondering if it was Jessop & co. I believe they have already energized Rajkot to Hapa. VM to RJT doubling + electrification is going on.

    • @narasimhansrinivasan1051
      @narasimhansrinivasan1051 5 років тому

      @@ManiVijay oh electrification reached Hapa, let me check on you tube itself.hmm here are some interesting links of electrification in the ADI/VM sectors and beyond. Instead, I think Bandikui division of NWR is making good progress in the Phulera-Ringas-Rewari section and even in the Jaipur-Rewari section of NWR. Phulera-Rewari is closely linked to the Dadri-JNPT North-West Freight corridor through Phulera-Kishangarh, where an airport has already come up. This is the link of ABR-Marwar sector as part of ADI-JP ua-cam.com/video/4DNVxwTtFEU/v-deo.html, but NWR is also moving very swiftly with some doubling and single line electrification in the Ajmer-Nasirabad-Mavli-UDZ sectors, as it will further link with ADI via the old MG route via Himmat Nagar. I think MG services are only operating for short distance from Mavli and between ADI-Himmat Nagar. Also Sikar-JP MG line is also closed now.
