Suffice to say that he does not need the status of archon to be powerful.
What makes me angry is Hydro!Mc was such an easy slamdunk. We don't have many good AOE sub dps Hydro characters. Xingqiu and Yelan are both largely single target. Kokomi's Aoe is limited to a smaller locked range and she's more of a healer. Mona has a big explosive burst. There were room to make the Hydro MC function without encroaching or powercreeping other Hydro Units and Hoyo just went the worst possible route.
Dehya is only bad in damage no? But her aplication and tank kit is better than Diluc DPS who can lose to a four star DPS in damage, probably diluc only beats the four star DPS with constelations.

They are better off with the Usual Energy recharge Skill/Burst Spam Quickswap type of Playstyle... than staying in the field for TOO LONG just to have 1 proc of measly damage passive....and probably waste DMG setup for other members of the team....on how selfish Main DPS builds are.

Its really sad that Traveller gets the end of the stick. Only Genshin Team is like this. Hoyo proved already they can make an MC with good or atleast decent kit in their other games. Hell even storywise and character wise, Traveller is the worst MC across the Hoyoverse. Well least interesting to me as they are very dull and having a bad kit (except Dendro) doesn't help at all.

The hydro application of the water gun is actually rather quick, because it ticks so darn fast, and you can technically spray it in a multiple target scenario, or spam one target in duel, so it's rather flexible. You COULD in theory use HMC as a Hydro driver in a reaction team, and he can heal himself and teammates and provide a shield at higher constellations. Add Collei, Fischl and Xiangling and you've got yourself a F2P friendly reaction team that will do good damage, running on a fairly tight rotation, and regarding the burst, just with Anemo MC, if you can position the enemy near the edge of an arena or some kind of wall, you can do some cute things with it. But honestly, this kit blows. I burst out laughing when I first used the hold skill. It looks so janky, and staying in place firing off that pea shooter is practically the anti-thesis of my Genshin playstyle. I'm 100% gonna stick to DMC. Thank God we have that one good kit for the Traveler so we don't really have to worry about his other kits even existing. Can't wait to touch base in Natlan for the 5 primo achievement and laugh at that one as well before teleporting back to Sumeru real quick to get my good character back.
Fun fact: Hydro Traveler's burst just phases out of the walls of the Spiral Abyss. Hydro Traveler burst is affected by no-gravity so its just aimlessly moving forward till it dies. That's the issue with thr burst. It is aimless in trajectory.

Alot of the early characters are. Bennett, Fischl, Sucrose. I would also include Jean in there given that they don't want to give us any form of good cleanse.
Not really a mistake. It was intentional on their part to make some of the early (1.0) four star units strong to help f2p players progress without any specific five star character.
I knew a review like this was coming the moment I tried him. They're gonna have to give a useful artifact set or character that synergizes for hmc to not be dog shit. you know what would make this traveler "saveable" ? If they add a pyro unit, that does a VERY SIMILAR burst, and they travel together at the same speed, doing damage and reactions at the same time, that's literally THE ONLY way to fix it.
appart from the fact that the skill is very strange, I simply HATE that the bubble from the burst IS NOT STOPPED by a construct (like Zhongli pillar). Furthermore, I still hate the fact that the bubble just travels foward instead of rotating around you (which would make it comparable to Kaeya, Xiangling and other units whose ult travels with you!)
Skill could have been a (tap) pop.. or (hold) 3 hit and slap).. Burst could have been like a tidal wave version of Dilucs burst.. would have been way more usable
How to fix hydro Mc: give him hydro infusion on last attack like Anemo and Geo, Let him be a sub dps by making his skill continue firing even after switching characters and moving. Make his burst last twice as long and travel to the closest enemy, after reaching enemy, explodes into a large aoe whirlpool pulling in and dealing continuous damage and healing to all enemies/standing in it

I was lagging real bad the day of release but I tried hydro travelers ult and it looked like it exploded on contact on an enemy and created some kind of a zone dealing constant hydro damage. But I shortly disconnected after. I was so hype for it when I got back on I can't say I wasn't dissapointed
On top of there being some incredible hydro units like Kokomi, Yelan, Xingqiu, and Nilou it was going to be hard pressed to even rationalize using hydro traveller
I'm very worried about the Ousia/Pneuma system applied to combat. In Spyral Abyss we'll probably be FORCED to use Fontaine characters in order to do enough damage to 36 stars it, and if this is gonna be true, I'll be so pissed at Hoyoverse, I was already kinda annoyed by the Burgeon only side the last time but it was doable overall, but force me to use new characters even if I don't like them over the one I already have is bs. I hope I'm wrong
I think you can still brute force the Abyss with well built chracters similar to some people killing Asimon without Dendro. So far, the Ousia/Pneuma system only helps by stunning or disabling the powerful attacks of certain enemies.

Hoyo's first 2 star DPS character lol No lie, I've been on a recent revival of the Anemo traveller. He's one of my re-new favorite characters to play. He's my on-field DPS, and Xiangling is my off field dps. One of my favorite attacks has always been picking up guoba with wind blade and effectively using guoba like a flamethrower. Anemo Traveler is C6 and xiangling is C6. This flamethrowing fun factor was only increased by the inclusion of dendro. Now, I have added my C6 Yao Yao to the team. The best part? Wind blade effects Yao yao's yuegui in the same manner as guoba. So, I drop both of the Pokemon, switch to traveller, he outstretches his arms for the wind blade, and then both yuegui and guoba are sent forward to attack. It looks so cool, like he's commanding the Pokemon to attack! And then everything gets swirled together. It's no longer anemo swirling pyro. It's anemo swirling pyro and dendro together. Anemo traveller cannot swirl dendro, but he can pickup and control both yuegui and the bountiful cores. The result is dmg much greater than before. His tornado gets ragged on too, but it's much better than this droplet of water. His tornado can pick up guoba and yuegui. It will infuse with pyro, and yuegui will cause constant dendro damage inside of the tornado. My fourth character is mona, so there are usually bountiful cores on the field too. Her taunt is almost like a Pokemon too, not quite, but well enough to suit my makeshift Pokemon team (I thought about using fischl for my Pokemon team, but I like that wind blade and tornado can pickup and control the bountiful cores, so i really wanted a hydro). Mona is first in rotation, so hydro get reaction first, and then the second in rotation, xiangling, recieves the TTDS boost. Next is yao yao and yuegui, followed by anemo wind blade or tornado. Any enemy caught within the grips of the traveller's tornado will suffer pyro dmg, anemo dmg, swirl, burning dmg, and often burgeon dmg. The tornado is his last recommended talent to level, but my tornado is super deadly to any enemies that can be picked up by the winds. And if not, the tornado still does 20% anemo/infused-element reduction (at C6). That becomes a nice addition to the VV resistance reduction, regardless if the winds do not carry away large enemies. Long story short, anemo traveller is way better than the hydro. His tornado gets ragged on, but it has way more utility than this water droplet.

I dont even think the main issue is that the skill takes long. You do get super armor during your skill and if you position yourself in the enemy's face those bubbles can spawn ontop of you so she almost feels like Dehya, but Hydro. This would be a decent hydro turret for hyperbloom teams if the skill was AOE splash and didnt have standard icd.

I don't know about damage but I personally find his ability fun. Planning to pair him with Nahida and squirt my enemies to death. Also, his ultimate is literally RAASEN SHURIKEN

I was looking for a buildguide for Hydro MC bcs yknow, the new Ousia mechanics and my traveller is at Lvl90. But with this kit, I'd rather build Lynette for Ousia mechanics.
For me this traveler is pretty good, He is an Sub dps, Just put some xiangling/dendro units and hold E, he will deal an pretty nice dmg, useful on bosses since theres gonna be more than one hit, he can self heal and even restore his own energy, its not BAD its just HELLA WEIRD
My favorite part of these worst character videos is that i can see how wrong they turn out to be in the next couple of patches and enjoy the character's new playstyle and damage while i wait

No, it’s still fun and finding ways to go around those limits the characters have is part of what makes the game even more fun!
Yeah, I've gotta admit, I'm not overly impressed with Hydro Traveller. To be fair, my talents are all at 1 at the moment (can't even start farming the domains till tomorrow), but still, I've got an Aquila Favonius and a cracked set of artifacts on her, so she should be doing half-decent damage, but no....she hits like a wet blanket! I'm only using her in hydro spec for now because of that new ousia/pneuma mechanic. I've got Lyney and Lynette though, so once they're both at an adequate 'fighting level', my Traveller is going back to Dendro spec! I actually use Dendro MC all the time in my Nilou team, but that team is all screwed up at the moment with Traveller being in Hydro spec! It's a shame they didn't make Hydro Traveller a healer. Hydro has got far too many good characters so they needed to make Hydro MC stand out a bit. They didn't.
I was really hoping they'd finally made Traveler good at something. It doesn't have to be S tier, that's fine, but at least make an A tier traveler. It's the main character of the story!

omg what the hell you taking about..... 5:40 its a fking DMG bonus it not like adding a damage to the final value. It gets added up with the total attack, which means it benefits every multiplier, such as crit damage, elementary mastery, etc.

I think Hoyoverse tried to overcorrect itself because Dendro MC was too strong. I think for a new account, Hydro MC is decent but there are indeed better hydro chracters for veteran players. It just goes to show how OP the Hydro element is as it is able to react well with other elements.

Would having a Jade Cutter make any difference? Despite the kit sucking, the weapon would let Loomie kinda double-dip on HP for damage (Like DMC double-dips on EM). The new set + Jade Cutter gives enough crit. The trash C1 gives them energy. So one just needs to stack HP and crit damage.

lol next week we get the "I WAS WRONG ABOUT HYDRO TRAVELER" video - The answer is always Hyperbloom. He is your hydro trigger. Off field Dendro and Electro and a healer and you're set. Level 1 talents and 2k per bullet, then 10k on a final slash, seems perty good to me. He does trigger Kuki, Nahida, Raiden. Dendro traveler is a 6* character so yes every element has a new standard to live up to but this blows Anemo Geo and Electro out of the water. Literally.
the thing is, if someone has played enough to go to Fontaine, they probably got something better than the hydro MC, so this probably wont even help beginners
Pretty much any situation where you could use HMC, you're better off using Barbara, honestly. The only 'upside' Traveler has is being able to proc the Arkhe mechanic.
Basically, what Mtashed is saying is that there's no reason to switch from dendro to hydro once I get to the port city. Too bad, DMC is still a good character for roaming around the overworld and even useful in past Abysses. I had hoped that Hoyo learned something following the previous lackluster MC versions (especially electro MC).

Its really sad that Traveller gets the end of the stick. Only Genshin Team is like this. Hoyo proved already they can make an MC with good or atleast decent kit in their other games. Hell even storywise and character wise, Traveller is the worst MC across the Hoyoverse. Well least interesting to me as they are very dull and having a bad kit (except Dendro) doesn't help at all.

The hydro application of the water gun is actually rather quick, because it ticks so darn fast, and you can technically spray it in a multiple target scenario, or spam one target in duel, so it's rather flexible. You COULD in theory use HMC as a Hydro driver in a reaction team, and he can heal himself and teammates and provide a shield at higher constellations. Add Collei, Fischl and Xiangling and you've got yourself a F2P friendly reaction team that will do good damage, running on a fairly tight rotation, and regarding the burst, just with Anemo MC, if you can position the enemy near the edge of an arena or some kind of wall, you can do some cute things with it.
But honestly, this kit blows. I burst out laughing when I first used the hold skill. It looks so janky, and staying in place firing off that pea shooter is practically the anti-thesis of my Genshin playstyle. I'm 100% gonna stick to DMC. Thank God we have that one good kit for the Traveler so we don't really have to worry about his other kits even existing. Can't wait to touch base in Natlan for the 5 primo achievement and laugh at that one as well before teleporting back to Sumeru real quick to get my good character back.

Pretty sure the burst is worse, like it goes through structures/constructs and walls.
Fun fact: Hydro Traveler's burst just phases out of the walls of the Spiral Abyss. Hydro Traveler burst is affected by no-gravity so its just aimlessly moving forward till it dies. That's the issue with thr burst. It is aimless in trajectory.

Not really a mistake. It was intentional on their part to make some of the early (1.0) four star units strong to help f2p players progress without any specific five star character.
I knew a review like this was coming the moment I tried him. They're gonna have to give a useful artifact set or character that synergizes for hmc to not be dog shit. Given the traveler is usually a knock off archon, I have to wonder whether I should even be saving for Focalors at this point. Total shame, becuse I'm loving 4.0 otherwise.

you know what would make this traveler "saveable" ? If they add a pyro unit, that does a VERY SIMILAR burst, and they travel together at the same speed, doing damage and reactions at the same time, that's literally THE ONLY way to fix it.
appart from the fact that the skill is very strange, I simply HATE that the bubble from the burst IS NOT STOPPED by a construct (like Zhongli pillar). Furthermore, I still hate the fact that the bubble just travels foward instead of rotating around you (which would make it comparable to Kaeya, Xiangling and other units whose ult travels with you!)

How to fix hydro Mc: give him hydro infusion on last attack like Anemo and Geo, Let him be a sub dps by making his skill continue firing even after switching characters and moving. Make his burst last twice as long and travel to the closest enemy, after reaching enemy, explodes into a large aoe whirlpool pulling in and dealing continuous damage and healing to all enemies/standing in it

I was lagging real bad the day of release but I tried hydro travelers ult and it looked like it exploded on contact on an enemy and created some kind of a zone dealing constant hydro damage. But I shortly disconnected after. I was so hype for it when I got back on I can't say I wasn't dissapointed
A cool trick with hydro traveler is to go to character selection and switching to your prefered hydro 5star unit.

I'm very worried about the Ousia/Pneuma system applied to combat. In Spyral Abyss we'll probably be FORCED to use Fontaine characters in order to do enough damage to 36 stars it, and if this is gonna be true, I'll be so pissed at Hoyoverse, I was already kinda annoyed by the Burgeon only side the last time but it was doable overall, but force me to use new characters even if I don't like them over the one I already have is bs. I hope I'm wrong
I think you can still brute force the Abyss with well built chracters similar to some people killing Asimon without Dendro. So far, the Ousia/Pneuma system only helps by stunning or disabling the powerful attacks of certain enemies.

No lie, I've been on a recent revival of the Anemo traveller. He's one of my re-new favorite characters to play. He's my on-field DPS, and Xiangling is my off field dps. One of my favorite attacks has always been picking up guoba with wind blade and effectively using guoba like a flamethrower. Anemo Traveler is C6 and xiangling is C6.
This flamethrowing fun factor was only increased by the inclusion of dendro. Now, I have added my C6 Yao Yao to the team. The best part? Wind blade effects Yao yao's yuegui in the same manner as guoba. So, I drop both of the Pokemon, switch to traveller, he outstretches his arms for the wind blade, and then both yuegui and guoba are sent forward to attack.
It looks so cool, like he's commanding the Pokemon to attack! And then everything gets swirled together. It's no longer anemo swirling pyro. It's anemo swirling pyro and dendro together. Anemo traveller cannot swirl dendro, but he can pickup and control both yuegui and the bountiful cores. The result is dmg much greater than before.
His tornado gets ragged on too, but it's much better than this droplet of water. His tornado can pick up guoba and yuegui. It will infuse with pyro, and yuegui will cause constant dendro damage inside of the tornado. My fourth character is mona, so there are usually bountiful cores on the field too. Her taunt is almost like a Pokemon too, not quite, but well enough to suit my makeshift Pokemon team (I thought about using fischl for my Pokemon team, but I like that wind blade and tornado can pickup and control the bountiful cores, so i really wanted a hydro).
Mona is first in rotation, so hydro get reaction first, and then the second in rotation, xiangling, recieves the TTDS boost. Next is yao yao and yuegui, followed by anemo wind blade or tornado. Any enemy caught within the grips of the traveller's tornado will suffer pyro dmg, anemo dmg, swirl, burning dmg, and often burgeon dmg. The tornado is his last recommended talent to level, but my tornado is super deadly to any enemies that can be picked up by the winds. And if not, the tornado still does 20% anemo/infused-element reduction (at C6). That becomes a nice addition to the VV resistance reduction, regardless if the winds do not carry away large enemies.
Long story short, anemo traveller is way better than the hydro. His tornado gets ragged on, but it has way more utility than this water droplet.
I like using him in overworld with nahida and raiden EM it was hilarious
As a noob I was having a blast with her combined with Fischl. It made killing flying enemies a breeze and fun.

I dont even think the main issue is that the skill takes long. You do get super armor during your skill and if you position yourself in the enemy's face those bubbles can spawn ontop of you so she almost feels like Dehya, but Hydro. This would be a decent hydro turret for hyperbloom teams if the skill was AOE splash and didnt have standard icd.

I was hoping somehow he have a special mechanics that can helps boost Ally's max HP etc. or maybe like an emergency healing that can pop off whenever anyone in the party drops to a certain HP, or even have a function in the Bloom/Superbloom teamcomps.. but this? I was looking for a buildguide for Hydro MC bcs yknow, the new Ousia mechanics and my traveller is at Lvl90. But with this kit, I'd rather build Lynette for Ousia mechanics.

For me this traveler is pretty good, He is an Sub dps, Just put some xiangling/dendro units and hold E, he will deal an pretty nice dmg, useful on bosses since theres gonna be more than one hit, he can self heal and even restore his own energy, its not BAD its just HELLA WEIRD

Would it have been fun to one punch everything in the way? Yes very much, is it not fun rn? No, it’s still fun and finding ways to go around those limits the characters have is part of what makes the game even more fun!

Yeah, I've gotta admit, I'm not overly impressed with Hydro Traveller. To be fair, my talents are all at 1 at the moment (can't even start farming the domains till tomorrow), but still, I've got an Aquila Favonius and a cracked set of artifacts on her, so she should be doing half-decent damage, but no....she hits like a wet blanket!
I'm only using her in hydro spec for now because of that new ousia/pneuma mechanic. I've got Lyney and Lynette though, so once they're both at an adequate 'fighting level', my Traveller is going back to Dendro spec! I actually use Dendro MC all the time in my Nilou team, but that team is all screwed up at the moment with Traveller being in Hydro spec!
It's a shame they didn't make Hydro Traveller a healer. Hydro has got far too many good characters so they needed to make Hydro MC stand out a bit. They didn't.
Fun fact, dewdrops from hmc kit are the same as the ones in Neuvillette kit and i heard Neuvillette can use them for his charged attack

omg what the hell you taking about..... 5:40 its a fking DMG bonus it not like adding a damage to the final value. It gets added up with the total attack, which means it benefits every multiplier, such as crit damage, elementary mastery, etc.

I'm an Aether main too and man this disappoints me so much. This was my most anticipated element and it is just terrible. I really have little hope for the next elements, it really feels like dendro traveler was a mistake. They're defo gonna release more half-baked for the traveler.

I think Hoyoverse tried to overcorrect itself because Dendro MC was too strong. I think for a new account, Hydro MC is decent but there are indeed better hydro chracters for veteran players. It just goes to show how OP the Hydro element is as it is able to react well with other elements.

Traveler spent too much time with Klee in the last event, and now all he does is blow baby bubbles. That's the most pitiful set of abilities I've ever seen! 😭👶😭
The neat part of the traveler is that they have a homing feature to their skill. That being said, it's still incredibly easy to miss shots.

Would having a Jade Cutter make any difference? Despite the kit sucking, the weapon would let Loomie kinda double-dip on HP for damage (Like DMC double-dips on EM). The new set + Jade Cutter gives enough crit. The trash C1 gives them energy. So one just needs to stack HP and crit damage.

It's new mechanic for Fountaine, Phenic (light) that meant to combine with Ousou (dark) to stun enemy or solve puzzle.

lol next week we get the "I WAS WRONG ABOUT HYDRO TRAVELER" video - The answer is always Hyperbloom. He is your hydro trigger. Off field Dendro and Electro and a healer and you're set. Level 1 talents and 2k per bullet, then 10k on a final slash, seems perty good to me. He does trigger Kuki, Nahida, Raiden. Dendro traveler is a 6* character so yes every element has a new standard to live up to but this blows Anemo Geo and Electro out of the water. Literally.

Pretty much any situation where you could use HMC, you're better off using Barbara, honestly. The only 'upside' Traveler has is being able to proc the Arkhe mechanic.
Basically, what Mtashed is saying is that there's no reason to switch from dendro to hydro once I get to the port city. Too bad, DMC is still a good character for roaming around the overworld and even useful in past Abysses. I had hoped that Hoyo learned something following the previous lackluster MC versions (especially electro MC).
