LIZZ, thank you for your interesting walkthrough of the game. I don't know English very well, but I understood almost everything you said and looked more at your emotions than at the game)))) Thank you for the time spent with you. Greetings from Ukraine.
Strelok lost his memory just like the monolithiens. Even though he learned about his past, he never recovered his memory. That's why Strelok says that the zone gave him a new life. Because he doesn't remember his old life. In a sense he was born in the zone "in the cage" and that's why the "doctor" asked "how does one know the value of freedom if one has never been free?" Implying that Strelok's way to free the zone is to cage it and protect, it in the state that it was when he was "reborn". as if strelock doesn't understand true freedom. A beautiful story I liked it a lot.
4 Endings, based on who you side with - Strelok, Skif, Scar, Korshunov. Skif ending is the main one, so it might be worth it to just load the save before killing the doctor (even tho it means replaying most of this final part of the game from there, but there is also best boss fight in the game you havent played yet), the other 2 endings are probably good enough to just watch on youtube.
Lizz, I enjoyed watching your play through. I just finished myself; I did use the “Wimp setting”. It was still no cake walk. I hope you continue when the DCL and other maps are available. Well done sharp shooter!
Fun fact: the Generators location (after the portal) is a bunch of arenas and tunnels stapled together where paths open and close depending on your game choices. The location where you arrived with Strelok is the Strelok fight arena and it has three entrances, one for each ending where you didn't side with him. It's kind of neat to see the area from different PoVs and approaches as you try each ending.
For sure I think that a lot of people had Fallout/Bethesda expectations going in. The map being 1 large open zone I don't think did many favors, but even just keeping a detector out when traveling helped me carry and run much more(Weird Water increases carrying by 40kg!). Its not for everyone, but I'm glad you stuck to it!!!
Siding with the Doctor is _ARGUABLY_ the best Ending in this game. "Everyone wants something from the Zone, no exceptions" Remember? That's a key thought throughout the game. What the doctor wants is to set the Zone Free, which means it will start popping up all over the world but not necessarily evil. His assumption was if Zone was free it could be good, for it had potential for that as well. ~That's how I understand it anyway. P.S. 1. There is a Fast Travel. The "Guides", for a fee, will take you to the next major settlement. 2. The Artifacts ARE the only grindy aspect for a Stalker and takes care of the money and other problems. With a good Scanner and a bit of practice it becomes "Tuesday" very quickly. Side Quests also can be very rewarding. 3. The inventory isn't too small, you carry too much. There is a survival aspect to this game beyond ocasional sausage. You really have to manage your equipment, how much you take and why. Well, thank you for sharing your experience 😁
It’s nuts to see Scar in this game having changed so much since Clear Sky. The fact he was a guide and a soldier only to turn into a Zone Hippy is crazy. The zone really messes with people.
I have completed all the endings but the Scar''s (yet). They all give really mindblowing details to the whole picture. For me it was worth trying to see what happens in each of them.
It sucks getting all the cool weapons and armor at the very end. It’s like being only able to play with your toys on Christmas Day and throwing them out on the 26th.

It was very grindy. I found the fast travel from main bases did help to cut back on the running around. I finished the game and then started using mods for playthru #2 to get rid of all the same aspects that were mentioned like weapons breaking and cost to repair found weapons (0 coupons) and other grindy stuff. I also got the mutants to not attack because i enjoyed gun fights but not the mutants because i found it over the top. Became more fun after that (for me). I'm looking to eventually remove the emissions and anomalies if possible and just play it like a Tarkov style.
Just finished my journey, where I decided to let the doctor go. This one is considered the "best" ending that frees the Zone of all controls including Strelok. And you finally realise who is behind the doctor... Overall, there is no "good" ending in this story while someone remains lying in the glass sarcophagus. Reminds the Matrix in that regard...

I enjoyed how you played the game, the paths you choose and end up with Strelok!:) happy holidays!, Also you dropping food and standing on the table grabbing ammo and everything haha.
One of the main features of the STALKER series of games, strange as it may seem, is not the plot, but the exploration of the world! It is not oriented towards fast passage. It is for this reason that there is no fast travel - if you use fast travel, then most of the locations (especially hidden ones) you simply will not find. Although it is possible that the developers could have added "fast travel" as a pluggable settings option for those players who care about it🙂
There's an old SCI-Fi novel called: "Picnic on the road side". The plot of which is around area called: "Zone", and the guides through it called themselves "stalkers". Also there is an official movie "Making of Stalker 2" it was uploaded to UA-cam by the company which developed the game 😉. Novel was written before the Chernobyl catastrophe
1:13:13 Lizz: I don't like repeating the same thing over and over again. Also Lizz: I like playing soulslike games like Elden Ring where you have to go through the same fight multiple times to learn everything about it. Just found the sentiment funny.
in Elden Ring you learn something about the fight with each try. What do you learn when you have to run from A to B, back to A, back to B... ? That pointless running around sucks and fast traveling would have been nice
There is 4 endings. 1. By not joining the ward, scar or strelok skif will enter the pod. By sparing the doctor strelok will turn on you. Skif ending kinda expend the zone and further outside the zone. Scar ending is an illusion, the worst ending. At first you seem to be in a blooming area with friends around the campfire but in reality Skif is all alone in ruined village. The ward ending is total control off the zone. Keeping an eye on everyone and everywhere and to hunt down remaining agents like scar and strelok. And you have the Strelok ending which you have now. Lock everyone in and out. For the coming expansion/dlc I think Strelok ending is canon, could be the ward as well but there’s talk about it so we have to wait and see.
@@nicklas5165 UGH I hate youtube. That was a comment for someone who spoiled the plot of Legacy Of Kain Defiance. I am so sorry. UA-cam sometimes posts these under the wrong comment.. I didn't mean you!
The problem with fast travel is that the developers cut this feature when they started optimizing the game. In the game files gamers found a feature that worked in the previous installment of the series. Stalkers who move around the zone in groups could guide you to the nearest base. Most likely when they had to cut A-life, because it did not go normally on the Xbox, they had to cut this function. Most likely in future patches it will appear, the developers said that they will definitely return to the game all the cut contet (many who looked at the game files, found quite a lot of interesting things). As for the ending for Strelok, you have understood everything correctly. Strelok simply lied to Skif that he wanted freedom for the Zone. That's why Skif has such a reaction at the end, he can't leave the Zone now, that's not what he wanted. The only one who gave hints was Richter, but still it is not clear what exactly Strelok wanted. To understand the motivation of each side, you have to go through the ending for different factions. In the end it is clear that everyone has their own plans for the Zone, except for Skif, who came here for something else entirely. If you don't kill the Doctor, you go to the ending for Skif, probably the most epic ending of all, and with a very unexpected twist. It partially reveals Strelok motivation. There are no good endings for everyone in the game. Everyone pulls the blanket over themselves. A good ending for Skif is an ending for Ward. But it's also bad for humanity in the future. The ending for the Skif is bad for humanity in general, but good for the Doctor. The ending for Scar is bad for everyone in the Zone, except for those who are ready to live in the matrix and in their illusions. The ending for Strelok is good only for Strelok and humanity, but bad for all those who are left to live out their lives in prison, including Skif.
1:26:21 C Consciousness is dead he killed them a long time ago. (you can see their skeletons in the other pods) what you saw is just a copy of the C Consciousness that remained in Subtle Matter like a record. so there is no life after death. Strelok used the artefact heart of chornobyl to enter the noosphere alone. the scientists ( C Consciousness ) couldn't do that, they had to combine their minds.
Finnished today with the same ending. Thoughts are similar as yours. Btw you didn't misunderstand Strelok, I'm native urkainian and trusted Strelok as well, but I didn't expect that way lol. Would you re-play from Doc's Save after Richter brought you to Red Forest? Please? =)
Hey Lizz, I'm just watching this now & am really enjoying your playthrough. Like your beanie & would maybe buy one, except it's summer in Australia & it was 38 degrees Celsius today😅 & will be similar tomorrow & if I step outside for 2 seconds my face will melt off 😂, so, not quite beanie weather here at the moment. If you could provide some merch that protects against funnel web/red back spiders/red bellied black/brown/tiger snake bites & or crocodile or shark attacks, that would really help me out 😀. I'm just past the 30 minute mark & your 'I hate portals' comment cracked me up, maybe 🤔 I'll buy that beanie afterall, it might come in handy after Trump causes the upcoming & scarily inevitable Nuclear Winter I never thought I'd see in my lifetime 🤣😭
freeing the zone was not Strelok's intention. after the demise of C Consciousness the zone was free as it is. it didn't have a master but there were others who wanted to use it. and to prevent that Strelok decided to close the zone so to speak. because if the possibility to control it exists, somebody eventually will. the ward or spark or eventually someone else. well the "doctor" on the other hand wanted it to be free but there is a catch.
will you play stalker shadow of chernobyl? compare the first game of the series with the last. With your experience in the zone, you need a couple of evenings to complete the game
@@LIZZgame That would be cool. No dates yet, devs promised to give a roadmap this month. (I'll post a link here when there's official info.) It is clear that there is still a lot of work to be done now to fix bugs and improve the mechanics...
I get the lack of fast travel complaint, but I strongly disagree. Game like this is meant to be slow, imersive, make you plan in advance your route, what to take, which fights to avoid and etc. IMO to make it more accessible - the A-Life should be fixed more. Then they can bring back the "roaming" guides, as a way to skip the walking if you really need to. But then again, though I personally like the story - stalker was never about the plot. So I dont get this "speed-run main quest" approach. But everybody free to play as they want, so mb it's just me grumpy about it.
I think they could either keep the constant walking back and forth in the world, but then cut down on the main story bits, which was mind you over 40h, or remove the constant walking back and forth but keep the quests. 40h for this was just too much imho, the story could have been told in 10 or 20h.
I played the original games when they came out. The first one is a sure classic and it helped me to find joy of gaming back in that day (I'm older gamer) so the trilogy has a special place in my gaming heart. Seeing Strelok and all the other characters in this game with the zone is brilliant fan service. And this is basically fan service game that shouldn't even exist because all the problems it had during its production. I don't think people who haven't played original games back in day can't appreciate all the things. Like I actually like that game is forcing to explore and there's no fast travel like back in the days. The fact that you can only carry what you need is actually strength of this game and sets it apart from another western games. Like in Kingdom Come 1, I never used fast travel. But it was there for obvious reasons. Then again there was no free saving which was the oddest thing. I can't remember a game since original GTA that this happened, now that all games are infested with checkpoint systems and everyone is used to it. I enjoyed this walkthrough especially when you played different ending to mine it was great to watch. I flirted with Freedom at the start but joined Ward in the end. Younger me would have probably went with Strelok to the end but I think the narrative explained quite well many times what will happen if you decide to go against humanity (and company). So I got the company ending where Skif gets his condo (I laughed at this) from the cold smoking queen bitch and the zone is no more. Humanity is saved but ward has control of everything just like US wants to be in our real world. I didn't like the ending from gaming stand point. It took me 3-4 hours and had to ditch my weapons cause there wasn't enough nato-ammo in the end. At least I know what weapons I bring on second playthrough some day. Also the old school boss fights are one those things from older games I don't appreciate at all. There were not fun in original Wolfenstein and they're not fun for me in 2025. If you want to check out older FPS/horror game I recommend F.E.A.R. from 2005. Still in 2025 it holds and one of the best single player shooters ever made with decent horror story and awesome combat. Should work fine on modern systems.
There’s a fun way of fast traveling in this game. There’s a glitch (dunno if they patched it already) which you toss your bolt to the bubble anomaly at the same time you walk into it the bubble saves you 1 or 2 km of walking around the zone Also you got the normal ending, not my fav but seems devs might take this ending or the ward ending as canon. If you spared the doctor skif would’ve entered the pod. Only four characters can enter that final pod the colonel, strelok, scar and skif Out of the four endings i think the ward ending is the best ending, at least skif got what he wanted a new home. Though it showed that the ward had other plans for the zone as well
The Ward ending is possibly the worst because it's fairly clear that the X-labs are still working, just under the new management, and the shit that Ward was supposed to stop is ongoing and is unlikely to stop at the boundaries of the Zone. Worse than Scar ending even, where all the idiocy is staying in the Zone for the time being. Not to say that other endings are much better, but Ward one is a lot more evil than middle-gray of Strelok or Skif endings.

It is clear that there is still a lot of work to be done now to fix bugs and improve the mechanics...
You are a cute Stalker.
Should work fine on modern systems.
i can't resist, attracted by magnet again. if endless game would exist... i don't like that point in any of games from G.S.C.
There’s a fun way of fast traveling in this game. There’s a glitch (dunno if they patched it already) which you toss your bolt to the bubble anomaly at the same time you walk into it the bubble saves you 1 or 2 km of walking around the zone
Also you got the normal ending, not my fav but seems devs might take this ending or the ward ending as canon. If you spared the doctor skif would’ve entered the pod.
Only four characters can enter that final pod the colonel, strelok, scar and skif
Out of the four endings i think the ward ending is the best ending, at least skif got what he wanted a new home.
Not to say that other endings are much better, but Ward one is a lot more evil than middle-gray of Strelok or Skif endings.
the ending on the easiest difficulty looks way too stupid, tons of everything, minimum resistance
No, it doesn't.
