I think I just figured out what PRS model I want. PRS is really becoming the next Gibson or Fender. They've got models that are becoming true classics now.
I said it before,Paul monsters those switches like the Hulk", imagine doing that in a store while trying it out , the shop guy would probably beat you around the head with a strat or something. piezo as standard would have been nice .
I think it's likely you use the term "single coil" but really you are running the dual coils in parallel to give a single coil thinner brighter sound but maintaining similar volume and noise reduction of the humbucking.
Justin McLaughlin you can also do similar by running a resister between the cut coil and the ground that's canceling it. That's what they're doing in the DGT. I personally use a variable resistor so that I can dial in the "single coil" sound I like. You can do this and ad series parallel with on,on,on mini toggles. Got that in a Custom 24. I use the screw coil on the neck because of the 24 fret pickup spacing. Then use the slug at the bridge and together it sounds similar to strat neck/middle position.
I've seen a company out there that makes an easily swappable pickup. They replace the pickup saddles and you can basically switch out pickups like changing a battery.
Just picked up my PRS 408 ... all I have to say is dayyyuum. Sounds sexy, looks sexy, and is so giving. I won't be picking up my ES 335 or Jaguar up anytime soon.
I'd guess he does it on purpose. It's a statement: look, this is a tool, something that can handle the beat of playing, not just a work of art. A beautiful tool indeed, but in the end, something that is meant to be played, not just to be looked at.
Totally random: Has anyone made a pickup with easily swappable bars? I'd love to see someone try to do this. Could go from A 2 3 or 5 to Ceramic or even Neo. "Why not just replace the pickup?" To save on resources. More options to players at a lower price. Educating customers. Honing in on the kinds of sounds you like that work with your specific guitar, such that you know which kinds of potted humbuckers to buy for your guitar. (Sounds weird, but this would be useful for online sales)
Somewhere between a lipstick, Strat, and P-90? LOL. Could you possibly give a more pointless reference? Those are 3 drastically different pickups. You might as well say a pickup is somewhere between a Filtertron and an EMG 81. ;-)
The innovation is really nice but you're going to scare away a TON of potential buyers with a neck pickup slot that's too small for an aftermarket humbucker. Even if your pickups are amazing, most people aren't going to want the guitar if the possibility of aftermarket pickups and customization down the road is never going to be an option. PRS guitars are expensive and nice enough that most people are going to reason that "if I'm spending this kind of money, this is going to be my #1, so I had better be able to make it exactly what I want."
This was the very beginning of what the TCI pickups were always meant to be, simply incredible Paul!
You can tell Paul truly loves his guitars.
There is no doubt about that!
Just got a 2nd hand 408 ST and I just love it. The neck felt instantly comfortable and it sounds great.

Todavía sigo pensando que ese modelo es el mejor (o uno de los mejores) que han hecho.
I agree

Wow, that guitar is very warm sounding!
LOVE MY 408, 513, and 20 anniv. CU22 axes! Keep on making them...next on the wish list is the studio...may be a while coming though.
Love it to death. I wonder what a 24-fret version would be like...
luiza177music It's called a custom 24/08 I think they don't make it anymore but they will make it custom shop
What a beautiful guitar!
Oy, the wood library :)
Dig the videos Paul, and diggin' my 408MT!

In humbucking mode, there's a coil tap on the slug side. The tapped windings are added back in the circuit of the slug coil when the pickup is split.

С благодарностью из России.

Les Paul + Seth Lover + Leo Fender + Ted McCarty + Bill Lawrence = Paul Reed Smith

They should do some british type of tones because a lot of times its just sound like santana again and again.
$4,250 is the price of 408MT with solid Brazilian Rosewood neck... which is quite a bargain for the solid Braz neck guitar!
OMG
Thats the one for me
Thanks PRS
any way to get this pickup configuration installed in my Custom 22?
That's a genius idea!

Man paul is soo harsh on the knobs lol flicking them violently
Thats how the ladies likes it
You’re gonna wanna flick those knobs hard. Trust me, I know from experience (Chris Farley)
What do you mean by "pickup saddles?"
There’s no volume loss but the tone barely changes at all. Nice try but misses the mark.
This is going to be our standard for a long time... Discontinues the model 5 years later.
4 bass players? Why though 😕
This one's awesome! :D
I Love you bro.
Y U NO PIEZO!!!
I don't want anything in the world more than a Maryland made PRS.
I believe that's retail...find a good dealer and you won't pay anywhere near that.

those are all single coils
Jeuel Sapad No shit, Sherlock.
+Nathan Frank You said those drastically different pickups. Thank you for contradicting yourself.

Amazing guitar and sounds. Unfortunately, pricey
