I went to a host club once when I was in Japan. For an hour, I had an awkward conversation with a tattooed Filipina about how much she hated living in Japan and wanted to move to the States. Host/Hostess clubs are basically like a bar you go into to pay cute ladies or handsome guys to sit with you, flirt with you, eat and drink together. It's like prostitution but for company instead of sex... Though some clubs apparently do secret prostitution too. But their job is to make you comfortable, happy, and encourage you to spend more while you're there.
