    My wife wasn't impressed by the inductive tach, but she did comment on how nicely your garage was arranged and how well you keep your equipment including a 10 year old chainsaw.

    that's awesome that your deal turn screws for free. I took mine back to the dealer they had to adjust the mixture and they gave me I've $35 bill.

    Have been looking for the older EDT 7 because of it's simplicity. Now I see from your video that the EDT 8 is just as good. Thank you for the video.

    Thanks for the good video! You did a great job of staying on the subject and being very clear of what the purpose of this is! Hopefully it will prevent someone from blowing up their engine from being too lean!!!

    the L speed screw adjusts the air fuel ratio at idle, and helps provide enough fuel for proper acceleration. The high speed screw adjusts air fuel ratio at fuel throttle. If you don't understand how to tune a saw by ear, or in the cut, a tachometer can be a valuable tool. However you can never dial in the tuning by simply tuning to a set rpm.

      WRONG!!........High Screw controls the RPM limit only!!........you SET based on that......there is no "mixture" for High Side......You are setting based on the Manufacturer's Max RPM.....preferably a tad less.

    • @Andyshine77
      @Andyshine77 4 роки тому +2

      @@94SexyStang The rpm limit on saws without a revlimiting coil at wide open throttle, is controlled by the amount of fuel allowed by the high speed mixture. What do you think that screw does? it controls the amount of fuel at fuel throttle. Every saw do to manufacture variances will reach proper air fuel ratio
      at a different rpm, tuning to the manufactures recommended rpm is safe,
      but you will leave performance on the table, and 9 times out of ten the
      engine will be tuned rich.
      Before you state something as fact, or say someone is wrong, at least do
      modicum amount of research on the subject, as you clearly do not even know the
      basics of how a small engine carburetor works.

      @@94SexyStang ?? Really? Lean mixture clockwise turn of high screw will increase rpm and counter clockwise richening will lower rpm, the h screw has no connection or effect on the venturi butterfly throttle opening!

    Great video. I am a huge believer in CRC 556/Briggs& Stratton Lube Spray to loosen all manner of things, rather than brute force in the first instance. A little spray and 5 minutes (ie patience) saves breakages and time in the long run. Cheers and KEEP SAFE at all times Dude. From Down Under. JP

    Can it be used as a tach on a two stroke boat engine?

    • @ThePete1891
      @ThePete1891 2 роки тому

      My guess would be it could be used on any motor the ignites fuel with a sparkplug. So gasoline, mixed with oil, or not. Also propane, Alcohol, Nat Gas, whatever.
      There may be a way to use with diesal too, I don't know where you would hook it up though. I have a tach I got off eBay, and I been using them for at least 10 years. They cost between 8, and $20. This looks like a very nice unit, and I may consider one depending on cost. If it runs over $25, I'll stick with my $8 model. They last about 5years, as the battery is not changeable. Though I have changed them in a couple. You can pop them open and swap it, and tape back up but they don't last an additional 5 years. Others they dip the entire electronics in epoxy, so if you manage to open it up, it is destroyed by swapping battery out. The cheaper ones seem easier to get at the battery. After 5 years, it is easier just to buy another. One thing that is too bad, is that the cheapies are also hour meters. So you know how many hours you've ran. I guess becuase of this, there is no way to turn the unit off. It is just on for 5years.

      I bought it on Ebay at a Stihl dealer in Germany, might be difficult to get a replacement, i'll send him an email anyway. I got the idle rpm adjusted in time before it switched off and that was actually the main reason for buying the tach......many thanks for your quick response, it's much appreciated and i'll be checking your videos now and then.....

  • @Ecksterphono

    They don't make these anymore. No demand for them. Find one that shuts off and you can replace batteries ( hardly any). The best one nowadays is the fast tach or tiny tach. The wired induction that you attach to the ignition cable is by far the best and more accurate. American made and has an hour meter. Good quality. You pay a bit more for it but wired is the best way to go.
