someone in riize's inner circle or who used to be close to riize members is 100% a snake. the fact that they're having so many scandals and rumors as a new group is so weird, it reeks of jealousy and sabotage imo

As a stay myself i can say that lately the fandom has blamed about three groups doing “plagiarism”

as someone that’s been a stay since the survival show, i just want to say it’s been so genuinely disheartening and sad to see how toxic stays have become in the past 2 years or so. they’re extremely toxic to other fandoms, but even toxic to stays inside the fandom for not trending the right hashtags or not being mad about the right things, even when bang chan has said multiple times to stop trying to take action on behalf of them. stray kids are still my ults, but honestly i haven’t watched a fandom crumble from something so loving and so accepting into an actual cesspit like this since like… one direction.
first of all, it is so awesome to have such a positive, wonderful, survival show stay here. for some reason it’s beautiful to see. i totally agree with this. the toxic stays make me so angry sometimes, but i don’t feel like speaking against them, as they will cancel me and doxx me for disagreeing with them. it’s such a shame to see what was once a happy fandom start to crumble. there really isn’t anything for me to do except watch the fandom crash and burn, which is so unfortunate. but i will say, once you get in a group of a bunch of lovely positive stays, it is the best feeling ever. i also agree that stays should listen to chan, he knows much more about what’s right for the group than we do. if anyone is to speak up about the protest trucks, it’s the members themselves. thanks for reading my essay :D

Though iirc, he's also had bullying accusations against him? I don't know if it was serious enough or if they made a statement regarding that or cleared it up. But yeah, every single one of the new faces in RIIZE has been in some sort of scandal already. Only the ex-NCT are safe 😭

We should not be normalizing apologies for dating. It’s so toxic to even have to say sorry for “surprising” fans. I hope more and more idols take the Jennie approach and just not even acknowledge the rumors. They’re human and should be free to date.
I literally saw someone a few months ago that said it's okay to hate on Jennie for dating but not Jisoo because Jisoo was open to the fans about her seeing someone. How fucking entitled does someone have to be?
Since the riize rumors are coming in a wave I believe someone is purposely sabotaging their comeback. Companies often do this to bring up their own groups and SM always has these little scandals before a comeback which could make or break it. For such a big company I can’t believe they can’t put out a simple statement saying they are not true.

Part of all the kpop fandoms are toxic.. but usually it's stays that are mostly mentioned these days.. coz there are lot of jobless trolls who drag skz unnecessarily for hit tweets.. I've only had 2 kpop dreams. One was jungkook performing at a mall and he stuck the mic out to me to sing and it was so bad he literally told me to stop and took the mic back 😭 the second one was me and yuta from nct pushing an empty baby stroller at a flea market and we bought a key. That's true, but Chan's room was the fault of Chan, Stays, and the OP. Although it's clear that the OP had ill intentions with the rumor, Stays chose to believe it, it wasn't bait. Chan also shared this with his fans on the live, which wasn't a good idea. There are somethings that fans don't need to hear, especially if it's one that's known for quite invasive behavior.

The zb1 and skz thing is a reach. I'm a stay, but I follow some of zb1's activities, and while there may be some influence (or just cliche use), it's definitely not plagiarism. I've seen on twitter that the account who originally posted is known for spreading rumours and starting fanwars, so stays who know better should go report or explain to others what's happening.
The premise is completely different, same with the length, script, music and ending.
There's only so many types of pt that one can use to travel, and the bus is the easiest to hire, compared to a train or a tram (they have trams in Korea?); and there's only so many stereotypical snacks you can eat in summer that aren't icy poles.
i'd like to give a quick explanation of where zb1's music drama content came from for any non-zeroses who are confused and would like to know. zb1 have a show on their yt channel called zbtv where they've basically created their own tv channel with 3 departments (style dpt., current affairs and entertainment dpt. and de drama dpt.) they've each created their own content within a couple of zbtv episodes. the current affairs and entertainment dpt. made a type of gameshow content where they played mafia, the style dpt. made a fashion styling content and the drama dpt. decided to make a music drama as their content (starting the 11th episodeof zbtv). the concept of this music drama which the members thought of themselves was that the 9 members of zb1 would come together in any universe regardless of their jobs or hobbies. they each chose jobs that they would like to do if they didn't become idols (taerae, matthew and gyuvin in a band, ricky and gunwook as basketball players, hanbin and yujin as architecture majors, hao as a music teacher and lastly jiwoong as a sound staff member). these are all based on real hobbies or experiences of the members themselves (hao has a music teaching licence, ricky has been playing basketball since 7th grade,...) and the thumbnail of the video is basically all the alternate universes versions of the members coming together (like the original concept is supposed to be). its the climax of the music video which is why its the thumbnail and most likely the only reason that they chose a bus for that scene is because its a realistic way that their characters could actually end up in the same place together.
i realise that any kpop fan that can look farther than their nose knows that u shouldn't believe just any plagiarism rumor because two thumbnails are similar. but i just wanted to clear things up a bit more because ive seen people blaming the company or just not care enough to actually watch the videos to realise that they have pretty much nothing to do with each other.
the news about karina's apology was one of the 5pm headlines on bbc radio, it made me so shocked that it even reached british news channels
and out of all the kpop news and 'scandals' its kind of weird that this is the only one they covered, especially considering some of the other, more seious things that have happened

That comment saying "Korean fans still don't get that how they'll drive a idol (a literal person just in the public eye) damn near off a bridge to appease strangers just reflects poorly on the whole country" is so real. (😂 those words I used were legit from one of my non kpop fan friends.) as a long time lover of international music nothing turns a person off to kpop more than the known delusional drama of their "fandoms" 👏🏽✌🏾

As someone who has been a KPOP fan since 2010, there have been so many controversies in the past but RIIZE's situation takes the cake. What the hell is the CEO or any of the higher-ups doing? This is a company that has already lost 2 idols to suicide, and they are sitting there doing nothing but punishing idols. No statements or anything to suggest that they are even considering filing a lawsuit which is why haters are walking all over them.
SM won't speak up for Karina regardless of her literally being aespa's head money maker

I agree with the point made about people just seeing the thumbnails or screenshots and thinking it's similar... when there's a parallel universe theme or generally youthful MV in kpop, these scenes seem like fairly common tropes (in the case of zb1 it's references to their background, hobbies and fandom lore, e.g. see below) - the bus scene is the culmination of the video and overlapping timelines, so idk what else zb1 could have chosen for a thumbnail...
I'm both a stay and a zerose... zb1 have gone with the parallel universe/strings of fate lore from the very beginning (tho it's more emphasised now) and for skz it makes sense because of the megaverse/multiverse stuff with the recent albums - the storyline is really not that similar tho and the reasons zb1 have the band and basketball scenes truly are because the members are known for those things (Taerae used to be in a band and Ricky used to play basketball, even in the bts he says how much he's missed doing it - he's had basketball scenes in previous MVs and teasers as well), as well as the teaching scenes with Hao (he has a degree in musical education), Yujin assembling the 9 figures is a reference to him giving Ricky a bd present with assembled animal figurines, Gyuvin is known for eaiting like 5 ice creams in a seating... etc., etc.
I don't expect ppl who are not fans to watch zbtv (their variety which prompted this musical drama vid) or know about the members, but if I was going to go out and claim plagiarism, I'd at least do my due diligence to make sure my conjectures are correct.

the Thumbnail in the ZB1/ SKZ case DOES look similar, but everything else looks like a reach to me. overused concepts and objects in kpop so I particularly wouldn't call plagiarism. BUT I'm not a fan of neither of them so fans following the situation and their productions closer might catch details more often, even though I've read the ZB1s members chosen the concept of the production themselves...
i think going as far as saying it’s blatant plagiarism may be a stretch but imo as a fan of both the similarities i’ve seen between the videos is a bit sus at the least idk

I'm dead. I can't believe the jeugdjournaal used your video for a post lol. They're basically "News for kids" here in the Netherlands. They report on recent events but keep it PG, they also usually include some silly or fun news to make it more engaging. I remember watching it every morning as a kid and we would then do "News Briefings" at school. I'm in pieces imagining some 11 year old reporting this in their morning class discussion lmfao.

I'm ngl, when the music drama came out I did immediately think of skzflix because of that bus scene, but honestly other than that initial similarity it's pretty different. Besides, sm groups have already done this concept in some way or the other. This entire "parallel worlds" concept is pretty saturated atp, so there's no doubt at the fact that some portions of the content may resemble with other groups. But to outright declare it as plagiarism? At the most it is merely taking inspiration. Let's hope other brainless netizens don't come at them for the drama. Like, the boys actually worked on it and came up with a lot of the storyline, so blatantly labelling it as "plagiarism" is just disrespectful and hurtful for zb1

BTS also has a similar parallel universe/we're fated to meet in every universe concept in their Heartbeat MV, so it's definitely not a unique concept. Though some scenes may be similar, I don't think it's enough to say that it's plagiarism outright. Both music videos are great!
I, myself, as a FULL BLOWN K-Pop stan am just (and I can't BELIEVE i'm saying this), SO ASHAMED AND DISGUSTED in how bad the K-pop fandom in GENERAL has gotten. Every single day I'm on the internet, SOME idol, no matter who, always has a problem about SOMETHING with SOMEONE. Can we go ONE MONTH without someone bitching about "Wait, they're UGLY without makeup on?! I'M UNSTANNING!!!" or "OH MY GOD, these two TALKED to each other?! I AM SHOOKETH!!!!" or something else? On top of that, even the idols THEMSELVES, on MULTIPLE occasions have had to step in, telling us to stop being blatantly insensitive to them and others, to the breaking point where idols are either sobbing, BEGGING us to stop or straight up having to be as blunt and real as possible and say things like "You're not a real fan of *whatever group* if this is how you act to even ONE of us, much less ALL of us.", "Get out of here if you're a toxic person" OR STRAIGHT UP ban us or God forbid, they commit su1c1de because of this. But do we care? no. No we don't. Cause if we did, less, if not, all of this wouldn't happen, now would it? But I bet some "stans" (NOT EVERYONE) out there just want that. Just like whoever might read this that wants to justify what complaints or rumors they made or that they don't care. Well, I, speaking for at least MYSELF.............don't care. I don't care. All these rumors and malicious comments about idols and other innocent fans just show how LITTLE of a SMARTIE, and, as a human as a whole, we THINK we are. So keep doing it. idk, man! As a stay and a semi-zerose ( by semi I mean I like the boys but I'm not THAT updated on them as I am on skz or other groups I stan ) I think there is a mass production of troll accounts trying to bring stay and skz down by making accusations, it can't be a coincidence. First IVE, then Ateez, and now Zb1, atp the haters want other fandoms to hate stay so they disguise themselves as stay and spread false rumors. I get that there are a few similarities but it's really fine, It's not like the boys or the fandom made the mv. I'm afraid I have to disagree with Angelina on some parts tho, like the references she made about the MV are separate parts like, yes many groups did the bus thing or basketball, or even the ice blocks but I don't think there is a group other than skz who combined them together in a single mv if that makes sense
This is so embarrassing. It’s the fact that Antons friend had to apologise for the fake rumours. On that day Anton went back to New Jersey for a break and he went out with his friends 5 or more. They took some photos and someone cropped them making it look like it was only Anton and the girl when it was many others too. Even if Anton was dating it is not anyone’s business anyway.
honestly if you watch the skz & zb1 videos back to back you can tell they're completely differently approached even if they used the same "tropes" (tbh the only similarities i found were the basketball and them sitting on a bus) so i really don't think it's that big of a deal lmfao 😭

We get solo music every week this past month and contents of them being on fashion shows and they occasionally went live to just say hi and hangout. I'm both a stay and a zerose... zb1 have gone with the parallel universe/strings of fate lore from the very beginning (tho it's more emphasised now) and for skz it makes sense because of the megaverse/multiverse stuff with the recent albums - the storyline is really not that similar tho and the reasons zb1 have the band and basketball scenes truly are because the members are known for those things (Taerae used to be in a band and Ricky used to play basketball, even in the bts he says how much he's missed doing it - he's had basketball scenes in previous MVs and teasers as well), as well as the teaching scenes with Hao, etc., etc. I don't expect ppl who are not fans to watch zbtv (their variety which prompted this musical drama vid) or know about the members, but if I was going to go out and claim plagiarism, I'd at least do my due diligence.

What I think is that KPop is so mired in established tropes and cliches, further restricted by slavishly adhering to recognised concepts and keeping it family friendly and to a limited budget, at this point it's inevitable that different MVs will look similar. If it feels to anyone being into it for more than 6 months like we have seen it all before it's because we have.
It doesn't make it plagiarism though. It's just that MVs cost a lot of money and taking commercial risks isn't really what most KPop does.
TBH, if they moved too far away from these tropes and conventions there would just be people complaining about it becoming 'too Westernised' and whatever.
