  • I picked up a very old Dewalt Radial Arm Saw (RAS) Model GA for FREE.
    It is a 14" 230V 3HP Single Phase Saw from 1964 or 1965 based on the S/N.
I have never restored anything Let's restore that thing together!
    We'll do the following:
    - Check out the electrical and try to make this old thing work. If it doesn't, there would be no need to keep going any further. Luckily, for me, it runs like a Beast!
    - Re-wire the saw, take the electric motor apart, clean it, and replace the Bearings (88507 and 88504).
    - Strip off the old table and clean up the base.
    - Unbend the Left Back Leg and bolt them onto the Pallet.
    - DeRusting the Entire Saw.
    - Clear Coat the Base, Redo the Dewalt Logo.
    - Build a New Tabletop and Fence.
Finally, perform the First Ever Cut with this Newly Restored Dewalt Radial Arm Saw Model GA.
Thank you all for following and if you like, more of these Videos, please like and subscribe :-)
PS: More details are available in the Series of Videos I made while I was restoring the Saw (7 Videos).
This Video is a Compilation of the Entire Restoration Process.
Hope you like it as much as I enjoyed restoring it.

Nice job Phil! Why don't you run the wire to the nose bottons? I love the 3HP Frame 563. You should wire it 220. Half the amps. The difference between a Standard Arm (16" crosscut) and Medium Arm (24" crosscut) The Medium Arm has a 42" long and the base is 36"x48" as compared the the Standard arm's base is 36"x48"

Thank you very much for your feedback and expertise, it is greatly appreciated.
The saw is wired 220V already ;-) I tried to troubleshoot the nose button but I think soemthing is wrong with it as I did not get the proper contacts (I couldn't figure it out) so I left the other ON/OFF switch. It works great but it would be nice indeed to have the orignal button running at some point :-)

@@prophilwoodworks3453 Interesting. I'd love to see the motor tag. So you think the switch itself is bad? Original saw sells that switch. I did notice in the beginning of you video that you did have that narrower wire that comes out of the magnetic starter. That was the nose button wire. I may also have a few buttons in my shop. I know I just sold one a few weeks ago. I have to try that clear coating you use. Very nice!

@@DeWaltRadialguy Yes, I tested the switch and I think it is dead. If you have one available I would be interested 🙂Regarding the motor tag. You can see it in the video at time stamp: 2:33, 3HP Frame #563

@@prophilwoodworks3453 I will check. I love the frame 563! Yes 18 AMPS 220V. Mine nuns fine on a 20AMP breaker.
