I bought my first ebike a RadMini in 2018 still have it and your upgrade kit. Great bike with the upgrades was good without. Bought the new Rad trike recently as someone ran in front of me on my Hyper Scorpion and I laid down the bike. Tibia Plateau fracture and learning to walk again reason for the buy. By the way the trike is overpriced crap. Anyway point is ebikes have come up from 2018. This bike is a perfect example of that! Bike is great and the forks are prime compared to most bikes at that price. Yea that’s a great bike duel battery amazing price‼️Yeah needs torque sensor their great.

I'd like to see Kyle give this bike an in-depth "underneath the hood" review of the critical components of MC3. Something similar to what I did on Mooncool's website.
On the Mooncool website I looked past the pretty graphics and marketing's puffery* and instead went to the warranty page (knowing that fly-by-night companies pay little attention to details like the warranty page). What I found was a page filled with grammar errors, the kind you would find on a fleabay listing by a China-located seller. Those errors told me that while this bike has superficial appeal, that appeal will break down on closer examination of the various components.
Bottom Line: As one of the soldiers said to sergeant Barnes in the movie "Platoon," "I got a bad feeling about . . . " this e-bike.
Buy this bike, IMO you will eventually find out the Mooncool is uncool.
*The U.S. Federal Trade Commission defines puffing as a colloquial term used to denote exaggerations by a seller (e.g., car salesman) as to the degree of quality of his product, but the truth or falsity of which cannot be precisely determined.
FYI: puffing/puffery is legal; the FTC says consumers expect puffing/puffery when dealing with salesmen.

I took a look under the "hood" and I can confirm there are two speed controllers.
Love the dyno test by the way.

A very interesting and revealing video indeed! As I recently watched another e-bike related video saying how much the e-bike industry is slowing down due to poor sales. It went on to say all old stock must be moved to make room for 2024 models. And their solution? Exactly what Mooncool is doing with their MC3 model, announcing and promoting an early Black Friday sale full of free accessories and a substantially slashed price decrease.
Yet while none of this sounds good for people working in the industry, I'm thinking Santa better get those reindeers juiced up and ready to haul around a whole lotta 100+LB. cartons this Xmas!!! HO! HO! HUH!?!

Usual fair, interesting review, and the use tests are reflected by the dyno. I'd like to see you derestrict it, then repeat your testing, both on the dyno and off road. It would be interesting to test each wheel with both in action (you may need to hold the other one off the ground).

The weight of the Rider or Cargo AND the bike are the actual numbers I'm interested in when determining Economy. Cool bike!

Quite the review between the dyno and all the camera angles/sound, etc. Looking good. Did I miss battery sizes and range? Anyway the bike seems worthy of consideration at a good price. In fact, it almost seems too good.

48v/15ah battery. That's good for 20-40 miles depending on terrain and pedaling.

The controller is 20 amp peak, I assume that 20 amp is split between the two motors when both a engaged.

I wonder about this company, its only been around since 2021, located in Southern California like many other drop ship ebike companies. No mention of whose cells are used in the battery packs or who makes their motors and controllers.
Also the limited speed at 20 mph is a real deal breaker for me. Also with a $600 reduction in price and throwing in all the extra stuff kinda makes me feel like they might be leaving the market place.

I am really happy with my dual motor bike. I live in a very hilly area. My street would feel at home in San Francisco. Granted it's one of the steepest streets around.

My Keteles k800 has dual 1000w motors with dual controllers for $1450. 23ah battery. Does 35mph on flat and 25mph uphill with a 300lb guy on it. Just saying. 😉
Thank you. I've always wanted to do this.

for torque just get a middrive. all the torque, all the speed. have your cake and eat it too. 40ftlbs? thats like 50nm, or weaksauce in plain english.

    • @18andlikeit
      @18andlikeit 10 місяців тому +2

More torque to just the rear wheel with a mid drive won't help much getting up and over steep ditches. It's both wheels being powered that makes a huge difference even if the over all power isn't the same as a mid drive.

impressed in a both wheel drive system. BUT....
let down on the web site, wanting to SELL warranties.
makes it look like the company selling the bikes does not have any belief in the communist chinese makers.
but if the bike had duel 750 motors and a slightly larger batteries. with a two year warranty.
and keep the full price including TAXES below $1,500.USD ( not the scam price of $1,499.USD)
and then they want to sell you a water bottle with there name on it. that should be a freebee, times 2 for each bike, as water bottles are cheap. given away in a lot of places.
i can not afford anything right now. but will see what the model year 2025 has.

Defender S 2x750W each max 1150+ 1500W together ( depends on controller peak could be up to 2400w, pass 1 goes from 15 to 30km/h pas2 35km/h max with guy 120kg 55km/h strong max close on slopes and frontal winds, one motor still good to be efficient on flats and small slopes, needs 2 bat, when comes hill just flip dual motor and flies over road hills. Small hills easy pass2 and pedalling. Very rearley use pass 3 4 5 . Throtle use just to cross roads.
They sold it with one batt limit 15A max I incresed to 22A, when got 2nd batt set max 30A so assume only one controler.
Ride 1st front wheel on return rear wheel and uphills 5% of time both motors.

Just a cadence sensor, no torque sensor. Unnoticed because he treats it like a motorcycle. Still a bargain for someone who doesn't like pedaling.

Nice! Watch the front wheel spin as you climb out of those ditches! How much does it extend the range with 2 batteries does it double the power with the second battery? Needs fenders

    • @Area13ebikes
      @Area13ebikes  10 місяців тому +1

2 will double the range. Power maybe a slight increase but very small.

    • @kevinnashskitchen3517

Yes. No rear suspension so rack and fenders should be $150 addition or so.

seems like a good value at the sale price, especially with the extras thrown in, thats hard to believe. I wonder how fast it goes unlocked? I imagine you could pop some 750w or 1000w hubs into the shells, get a better controller(s) to upgrade it and it would be pretty quick.
