This felt like CinemaScope, great editing. Also obvious the controls are a handful, even with hydraulic boost. I'd be wrung out after 20 minutes of close formation flying. Total skill and concentration.
👌... absolutely beautiful footage!! I love the old P38 awesome looking WW2 plane👌....great flying control too!!....great to see the Mustang, and i think the Corsair flying there too!!..... Many thanks for sharing it, pal!👍👍😁....is this the " all silver painted, Redbull P38 ?..... looks great!!..i have some stunning photos of this plane flying at RIAT display some years ago. 👍
@@Loebane The point of a yoke is to increase the strength a pilot can apply to the control surfaces by facilitating two-handed piloting and, in some cases, increasing the lever length. If you need to do that, your aircraft probably wasn't going to be a very agile machine in the first place. And indeed the P38 wasn't. It wasn't a dogfighter like @zoesantana5700 writes, it preferred zoom-and-boom tactics, which rely less on maneuverability and more on power and energy conservation.
To me, that bird will always be Lefty Gardner’s “White Lightnin’”. So great to see it still doing what it’s done for… well… my whole life (60 years). And this reminds me of an old video from the 80s with Lefty, although much better quality.
The axis powers had some excellent fighter aircraft. But the US had so many different and excellent fighter aircraft. Mustang, Thunderbolt, Lightning, Corsair, Hellcat and I'd give honorable mention to the P-40 Warhawk for being rugged and used intelligently by the AVG in Burma.
I wonder if current fighter pilots are a little jealous of WW2 pilots. Today it’s all about BVR (beyond visual range) fighting, rarely do you actually “get” to dogfight…
a corsair a p51 and a p38 flying so close together is wild. I'd be so concerned that all the pilots are familiar with each other and have run thru their flying routine many times before doing it for real
Don’t think I would want to perform aerobatics in an extremely rare and perhaps priceless warbird with that GoPro moving around in my field of vision.👀🧐
Never in my life did I ever think I would get that view from a P-38, I'm old so thank you for the view of a lifetime.
The lightning is such a beautiful bird. ⚡
That Mustang driver is glued to his wing.
Yeah ... I noticed that too...! G4 was the standout FF guy...!
What a beautiful machine that airplane is
Yeah but it scares me enough 😢
What a fantastic view! We have a P-38, a Corsair, and a P-51! I wish that I was flying that P-38!
Don't get to see this view everyday...AWESOME !!!! That's how you do it !
No music! Awesome
This should be seen on a big screen

MAN this is some great stuff!!
That is the single most awesome piece of footage I've ever seen. The Lightning is my favorite warbird, bar none.

I'm impressed that an aircraft with a yoke was still an extremely capable dogfighter in WWII.
What makes a yoke a bad choice for dogfights?

@@daneelolivaw4323 Thanks for clarifying/expounding on the reasoning!
I wouldnt agree the lighning was a good dogfighter. Maybe in and out with its highspeed boom and zoom, but turnfights? doubtful.
Is was effective in ww2 Because that was the technology at the time , dont compare it to modern tech , compare it to other tech of that era
💥Outstanding!
3 of my most favorite warbirds. Excellent !!
I'd never thought about it till now, but once you take all that thick bulletproof glass and supporting hardware out you get a fantastic forwards view.
Beautiful aircraft, an absolute killer in the day ! Bravo
Wooow!! 😳🤯 So talented & precise. Didn't even stop to blink.
BEAUTIFUL AIRCRAFT!!!
This is way cool. Sure would have been fun to hear the chatter that I'm sure was going on among the pilots!!
I can't wait for the heritage flight with the F-22 and p-38 this weekend at the Miramar airshow
Stunning
Tolle Aufnahmen Raimund!!!
This is so cool!
Sywell Airshow June 22nd 23rd 2024, it was a fantastic show, especially these guys.
Very cool! I didn't know P-38's had yokes. I have to watch this on a big screen TV.
And do you know C17 globmaster had joystick like jet fighter !
@@rtaf4206 I do! Center stick. Airbus jets have side sticks
Wow ! Just awesome 👏 and smooth as silk ! That’s what that airplane was built for
The P38 lightning together with the P39 cobra are two of the most beautiful 1930ies designed planes.
Incredible video, can we please have more like this i.e. high res video capture, piston prop warbirds, aerobatics, can hear the engine(s), no music
Amazing footage, almost felt like I was there.

WON-DER-FUUUUL !! 😲😍👌
And more , i saw my favorite War Bird on the right : CORSAIR F4U !! 🔥 ☠ 👏👏👏✌😊😊
here we go looped de loop!
Outstanding ❤
Raimundo! 🤙🏻🤘🏻❤️
Awesome
Looks like Riedmann’s Mustang wingman is a bit less steady than his Corsair wingman. Gets very close…
What are the settings to capture both the interior of the aircraft and the exterior without any over exposure ?
Beautiful birds…
Awesome! Poor Artificial Horizon looks confused 😮

One would almost think those guys know what they're doing! Nice.
My favorite aircraft ever. What I would give to be able to fly one
The jug is still my favorite
New 360 cam?
Nope - the Max, still rocking in 2024.
I wonder if current fighter pilots are a little jealous of WW2 pilots. Today it’s all about BVR (beyond visual range) fighting, rarely do you actually “get” to dogfight…
Probably not jealous of a bear guaranteed kill, vs risking being shot and killed yourself.
Not at all. Attrition for pilots in the Pacific was something like 1 in 3.
Ya but hell.that is just too kool 😆😆😆😆😆
Kelly Johnson at his zenith 😎😎😎
Did all P-38s have a steering wheel like that?
Didn’t know Tony Hawk was a pilot too
Umm, is this shot on the Max 2, because my Max doesn't get this high of quality... 🤔
Same, mine looks shit compare to that footage
How come the propellers spin so slowly like not spinning?
The RPM of the propeller is close to the FPS of the camera.

They're all Red Bull planes, so I assume they fly together often.
Don't these things have shutter speed adjustment? If not, they should.
Reminds me of Lefty Gardner & White Lightnin.'
Far out beautiful ❤
Muito bom
Valeu
Obrigado
I want this in 3D
My dream was to be a pilot…..my vision, on the other hand, wouldn’t allow it 😡
The oxygen mask is interesting.
wtf, gopro 360º 2024?
Second!
the oxygen mask has me wondering.....
Красиво 👍.
I'd rather be in that Corsair.
When these birds were new, the original pilots were just kids! Image being just 21 years old and piloting a fork-tailed devil for real!

The camera isn't moving, it's shooting 360 degree footage and they are just reframing the shot as they need....

O2 mask???
Why does he need an oxygen mask at this altitude?
The microphone is in there
Great plane. Why are you wearing an oxygen mask?
80 yr old beams and stringeres being stressed like that? These birds are museum pieces straight and level is all thats needed.
The cameras constant panning and movement was unnecessary. My name is Bicycle Bob and I approved this message.
Первый, можно медальку?
Awesome view.
it is a signal - don't wait gopro max 2 😥
