Hey, Cecilia! You can start progesterone only (POPs) birth control pills as soon as you give birth if you anticipate having sex. When you stop breastfeeding, you can start regular birth control pills which are more forgiving. The POPs require that you take them at the same time every day. If you are 3 hrs late, then you need to abstain from sex for 3 days and take Emergency contraception if you had sex within the past 3 days before the mistake.
I am concerned about side effects. I have a heavy to moderate flow that appears inconsistently, 5-7 times a year and I would like for it to be lighter and more regular with out many physical side effects. Can I achieve this with a combination pill?
I have a question! When I decide to come off ginet (Diane), is there a way to slowly get my body to regulate my hormones naturally? I'm scared that when I do decide to come off the pill, I'm going to lose a lot of hair and my acne will flare up!!
Hi Shayla! If you come off the pill by finishing your pack, then it should be ok. By the end of 7 days off the medication (the bleeding/placebo/sugar pill week), it’s all out of your system.
Thank you for that suggestion. At Pandia Health, we only provide the pill, patch, ring so that is our focus. However, www.bedsider.org/methods/the_shot has great videos and info.
The pills with estrogen can cause headache in some people. If you notice the headache goes AWAY when you are on the last week of pills of a 4 week pill pack (the sugar/bleeding pills) then it is the medicine causing the headaches. If there is NO difference on that last week, then it is probably NOT the birth control pill. You can SKIP the last week of pills and go straight into the next pack if you want to skip your bleeds each month. See our #PeriodsOptional videos. Or you can not take them and just make sure you start the next pack after 5-7 days. We recommend 5 days.
I am 21 years old and I tend to get irregular periods every time. So I decided to try these contraceptive pills called yasmin. Would taking a birth control pill help in getting your periods and if so then how should I go with it. Please do reply. I need help.
Taking birth control pills should cause you to have a “period” aka withdrawal bleed. You should see a doctor to check on why your periods are irregular though because it might be due to thyroid, PCOS, or other issues.
If you are breastfeeding, you may want to take a progesterone only pill because theoretically an estrogen containing pill may decrease your milk production. If you are NOT breastfeeding, then a “regular” birth control pill with estrogen and progesterone is MORE effective than progesterone only pills. Then Diane 35 is fine.
Nilly, the risk of blood clots occurs if you have a family history of blood clots, have lupus with antibodies that make you susceptible to blood clots, or if you are at least 35 years old & a smoker. Hope this helps!
Hi I would like to ask, my first time to take pills last month and i had my period for the last three days, but very light bleeding only. Is it normal? Because i was expecting that i should have regular flow of menstruation. Thank you!
hello, i stopped taking birth control and never felt better. I noticed that when progesteron levels are higher then estrogen i have a problem with my mood, i eat the wrong foods, i feel crumpy etc. Is it true that some woman are more sensitive to how progesteron effects their mood and body? I always have PMS and my mother also had and my sister on my natural cycle. Because progesteron starts to rise and have a peak around day 22 in the second half of the cycle it causes moodyness, tender swollen breasts and a very bad mood. If i look at the picture of a natural cycle how the hormone levels are then i can totally see that when progesteron rises it causes a problem in my brain. I think also progesteron can have affect on dopamine levels in the brain. Now when being on the pill i always felt like PMS only i didn't know this at first. Birth control has progesteron dominance ( wich means its higher then estrogens levels) this for me is a red flag. When progesteron is above the estrogen levels i am just not feeling good. For me estrogen levels high stands for, shiny skin, energy, good mood, eating healthy good foods, dopine and libido high almost like a high feeling especially right before ovulation. But when being on birth control i never had this estrogen dominance in the cycle, which now explains my pms mood all the time. I would definitely advice doctors to warn people that birth control will affect their mood and skin and the shininess that ovulation gives will just never be with a woman on birth control. I can now even see woman being progesteron dominant. It will show in their character, their skin, their eyes are more dull and they want less sex, exactly the same as PMS because their body knows there is no egg, so why bother. I can also see when woman are ovulating, it comes very close to when someone is pregnant and they have this glow. So this means estrogen is high. This is a big reason why progesteron is not my friend and why i don't like birth control.
Is it ok to not have periods ever. I mean if I keep skipping the sugar pills week then I’ll never periods which is actually great if there are no side effects. Please answer to this question. Thanks.
Is it good to skip your cycles? How do you get off the pill? Why are there so many side effects that seem dangerous?I hear mixed reviews that it is and isn't safe to skip periods.

Hello! I am going to start my birth control for the first time ( tri lo sprintec ) & I was wondering when is it okay to have sex? I would want to wait until my body regulates the hormones but I’m not sure how long that wait is! Thank you!
To be absolutely safe, we recommend waiting until you are on the medicine for 1 month. If you start your birth control ON your period, then theoretically, it should work within 1 week. Always consider using a condom to prevent diseases but also it’s just better as a woman to not have the ejaculate dripping out for the next 24 hrs when you have sex without a condom. Sex is better with condoms! =)
All placebo “sugar” pills are slightly different. The manufacturer of the drug also gets to manufacture the placebo pills that go along with it, so although the main ingredient is usually sugar, it’s not the same chemical formula each time for different pills. Ask your pharmacist but the amount of sugar in there is minimal and would not affect a diabetic. This is for general information purposes only and you should consult your doctor for medical advice.
Doctors will need to evaluate you to see what will fit you. We have over 40 pills to chose from. Hope this link helps www.pandiahealth.com/recipes-to-relieve-pcos/

If your age is your only concern, yes. It is ok to take birth control pills. However, you need to ask your doctor to check for other medical conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. At 45 years old you might want to consider using a pill with only 20 mcg of estrogen. And at 50 years old, go down to 10mcg. But this is not medical advice. Consult your doctor.
Is it safe for taking birth control without baby?and how long to take it? Im fresh married and i dont want to get pregnant im not yet ready hehehe hope you asnwes me
Yes. the point of birth control is to prevent babies, so you can definitely take birth control if you have never had a baby. It takes 1 week to 4 wks for the birth control to start working. However, we always recommend that you use condoms to protect yourself against diseases.
