Many have asked is it worth more than a Caldwell or other rests on the market. Absolutely it is. But this depends on your needs and expectations #1 Made by shooters for shooters. #2 American made. #3 Ransom Rest is 24 pounds Caldwell is 8 pounds or less. And the quality continues from there. #4 Ransom Rest has a keyed major column and 1 1/4 minor column keyed for alignment with CNC machined Acme threads and a casted CNC machined hand wheel with a bearing for heavy guns, Caldwell is made not in America (hopefully a gun friendly country but it is imported) It has a standard thread 1" column that is not keyed only aligned by the lock knob with a plastic or aluminum elevation wheel. No elevation bearing. #5 Ransom Rest Leveling feet are hardened with knurled and CNC machined knobs and CNC tight tolerance machined threads on leveling feet for no movement. Caldwell has standard shiny hardware screws for leveling feet with tapped holes with thread movement and or leveling feet wiggle. Ransom Rest is patented and made by Ransom in the USA it is the original Rifle Master. Caldwell was started by our dealer at the time it is more then 15 percentage different or more therefor USPTO (United States Patent office) says it's their own design and the Ransom Rest patent is not withstanding. The quality of Ransom goes on from there.

Without question the Ransom Rest is an uptown first class piece of gear. Although my Bald Eagle cast iron slingshot model is very good, I plan to buy a Ransom in the future.

I bought a Ransom adjustable rear rest to go with my front Randolph Machine rest.
The Ransom rear adjustable is an awesome rest too and the best on the market!

I’m a Bald Eagle man myself.
(Got a deal on a used one)
I wouldn’t hesitate to use Ransom. Expertly crafted & an intelligent addition to your benchrest accoutrements.
You are already an incredible marksman & I think you will find, this is an outstanding enhancement for your consistency.
This rig will help you remove much human element, when you are proving out ammo & rifle performance. A feller can go practice his trick shooting later, once you know the rifle & load is good. 👍

It's about damn time, Joe!! That is a nice one. I keep mine in a large tool plastic tool case along with the rear bag. Got my case a Lowe's I believe. It makes for a heavy box but it keeps the crap together and protected. A nice rest does make a real difference.

I've got a older model Sinclair that is very similar to this and they do last forever and nothing wears out. I will make a suggestion that has worked for me for over 20 years. I see you shoot off concrete benches as I do, I cut a pc of rubber sheeting 1/4 thick that it sits on the concrete. The feet just protrude enough to grab the sheet and the weight of the rest keeps it from moving. It is rock solid, never slides and the rest never takes any damage or wear. I just keep the sheet in the case with it and away you go. That sheet has lasted 20 yrs and works in hot and cold. Congrats on great rest.

Can't wait to see this and your opinion. I have been using one for years and feel like it is the industries best kept secret in rest. I believe it is also the BEST DEAL when you compare the features of the rest and I have had the lower cost rest and have borrowed higher dollar rest like SEB and 21st Century go look at the price on those bad boys starts at 3K.

I bought the Sinclair used from a friend quite a few years ago and it wasn't cheap back then. I had a Caldwell and still use it as a backup or for a second rifle rest at the range. If setup properly with a top quality front bag they all work well some better than others and as far as buying a SEB NEO or SEB mini they are out of my budget. I actually think a proper fitting and tracking rear bag is the most important piece you can buy and don't do cheap either buy and Edgewood or Protektor. I have 3 Protektor and 3. Edgewood bags for different stock types, Tha's a good rest you'll be happy with it for years to come. I run an Edgewood Gater rear bag with an elbow rest and the Sinclair Comp. front rest and I don't see me changing anytime soon. Once you get the combo right it's a real joy to shoot and the scores go up.
