Thank you. Have an out of vehicle BF Falcon BTRE 4spd WITHOUT damage to the Lines when I removed them. I owe you a Beer.
hi, no worries, beer link is in description. cheers for beers
Absolute Legend mate. Struggled to take of those plastic quick connects before I watched you video.
glad helped, cheers
Quick connect they may be... disconnecting in the limited space by whatever method is another matter. Thanks for explaining how they are supposed to work. I was frustrated recently trying to remove them to install a front mounted trans cooler.. ended up cutting/ breaking the hoses after not being able to find any info on removal. Even after removal I couldnt figure it out so in the bin they went, best place for them. Your vids are great,,this one was a bit late for me but now I know!
cheers
I had the exact same problem while installing a transmission cooler in my territory. I ended up leaving them connected to the heat exchanger and cable tied thm to the frame until I get time to get the bastards off! Thanks to this video they're now off
ok long story short , this volvo v70 2009 been losing oil from loose trans line at the cooler end ,rad. the owner didnt know he thought its got gearbox major problems im going sell it on ebay , i bought it and have figured out the problem , thing is both those lines dont fully " lock " home . the top one will slide fully home and slide fully off but not lock . the bottom one will not push fully home and want come off fully like the the top one is , at this point i dont want force iether of them . any ideas? is there supposed to be metal cir clips on them both .? there both black like in your vid BUT looks like theres blue "tabs" altho they look very simular to yours there seems to be slightly differnt . going online looking at replacement parts isnt helping really ,im seeing everything apart from what im looking at on my volvo .???
Thanks, your tutorial helped me remove the Transmission Cooler lines from a Ford Transit Connect.
I'm installing a new Transmission.
glad helped, cheers
Thanks bud. Lifesaver. Was pushing them tabs as you suggested the average Joe may do. Doh. Very easy to understand your slow clear method of explaining . Great vid. Cheers
hi, thanks and glad if helped. a few beers always appreciated if deserved. link is in description. cheers
Thanks for your video
hi, glad if it helped! few beers are always appreciated. link is in description. cheers
Thanks for doing this video, just about to put a new heat exchanger on an fgx falcon and it has those connectors. I would have squeezed them and possibly broke them so you saved me a lot of drama :)
good to hear. cheers if it deserved a beer ;-)
Thank you so much never did one you showed it correctly thank you 🔥⛩🐉
no worries, cheers
Damn! Thanks for the info mate I needed this!!
thanks & cheers 👍
Hi
Great video and very easy to follow.
I always wondered how to properly remove them. I have broken a pair
Glad it helped, cheers
Thank you for the great video!
thanks & cheers 👍
Sometimes the slightest bump and they leak for a few seconds, most quick connect fittings on my cars end up removed and stored in the shed. Location of the heat exchanger always bewildered me.
hi, planned obsolescence. cheers
@@YepThatsIt yeh, nice video of course like all of them, i learnt a bit from you , the beers are stacking up like bit coins LOL
Thank you Sir better to UA-cam and see how it is done and lucky i did find your UA-cam advice
thanks & cheers
very educative. thank you regards,
thanks & cheers
Hey mate, what size thread is that stainless fitting on the male end?
Cool, any idea what that main black clip is called? If the one you said is decieving by working opossite way, press in then down
not sure what its called, but i call it many colourful words. cheers
You're a fkn legend mate !
Thanks for this 👊
glad if helped. if deserved cheers for some beers, link is in description 👍
swedish engineering love it hahahhhahh like a hose and clamp would be just fine
makes life interesting, cheers
I literally aborted a cooler install this weekend as I wasn't sure how best to remove these.
I didn't have a second car around so took the easy option to just leave in place and swap out 4L of fluid as a holding move as mine had been leaking around the pan and was just showing signs of low fluid - occasional lack of drive when stone cold but only in the first 30 secs or so. I doubt it had ever been changed in 275k, certainly no witness marks on the (tight...) drain plug but it wasn't actually too bad for that age. Seems fine now but will revisit the cooler in a couple of months.
Out of interest, what transmission fluid works best with these ION/BTR boxes. I see variants of TQ95 from Castrol etc but then Penrite stare their fully synthetic ATF is rated for these boxes too and presumably is better able to cope with heat/aging etc due to it's formulation.
hi, we like to use Tritech lubricants when we can. cheers
whats the part number for the o ring up the top you mentioned but didnt show
no part number is a size comparable part and use viton or suitable oring. cheers
ive got an sr territory thats leaking at one of those conectors which on mine are on the trans oil cooler, what o ring would i need mate?
hi, if you follow the line you will see which ones go to trans. sorry can`t tell you which exact oring suits, we just go to our supply of them. make sure you also get the correct oring section thickness. cheers
Ty so much cheaper than (rage) replacement lol
hi, curiosity promotes discovery, then familiarity promotes experience and then their grandchild is confidence. cheers
Weirdly my 2009 G6E-T has the plastic clip lines at both ends - now I'll have to get some adapters for the replacement cooler I bought as it won't fit.
hi, we retrofit all the time. cheers
@@YepThatsIt It's a half inch Quick Connect, correct? The replacement I sourced has screw ins, so in theory I should just be able to buy the correct size quick connect and replace the screw ins that came with the heat exchanger... but searching I can find loads of smaller diameter QC adapters, but half inch doesn't seem to be around...
Would u know the part number or would u be able to link me to a site where I can get that exact hose from cheers
hi, try parts supplier or dealership. cheers
Before pulling the whole sleeve, can I insert tiny screwdriver into the tab on both sides to lift them away a bit to release from the metal tube locking lip....? Please advise. :).
hi, you can try, but i haven`t had much success doing that. cheers
The bits that look like they can be pushed in have been broken off can you advise how I can remove them now please
hi, you could either use some pointy nose pliers with tips bent in to reach broken lugs, or unfortunately you may just need to replace the whole section. cheers
Got more vids ?
yes, check out our channel or playlists ua-cam.com/users/YepThatsItvideos cheers
what about two orings inside ?
hi, you can replace the o`rings. cheers
those clips are an instrument of the devil. straight out of Beelzebub bottom. i took a friggin' age getting them off under a car at the wreckers yesterday and if i'd seen this video earlier the air wouldn't have been quite so blue when i finished. GRRRRR. nice transmission cooler though.
haha don`t worry we have all been through the colourful language removing these. cheers
the ford falcon from BA to FG has the most stupid cooling system, the last thing is a heat exchanger that goes to the radiator cooling loop via a plastic thermostat housing, I wish to delete this whole craze of thing by adding what should have been done in the first place a small radiator core to the front on the main radiator, some radiators have heat exchanges built in including on the fords they could have used that lol, pipe is way cheaper then all this setup.
But anyway my question is what thread are those barbs and what size is the hose i am thinking 10mm, i want to put standard barbs in the transmission and run some nice rubber hose to a dedicated radiator, I am also taking an educated guess that i will have to use more oil for the transmission then normal as i am adding the volume of the pipe and rad to the system?
"might as well do a full transmission service"
hi, use the plastic elbow connector and just put hose directly on the elbow ( carefully cut off the plastic tube not to cut into the elbow ) you may need to put hose ends in hot water to get them onto the elbow....dont have sharp bends in cooling hose or they will kink when warms up. cheers
@@YepThatsItI still don't know the inner size of that plastic pipe I hate when these idiots hide information just so they can get return business but for me it makes me think I will not buy from them, no one knows the size no one.....
@@govlovesyou1334 Lol do you know how many of those places have been well shut down?
6 years ago i could have gone to a number of those places at leased 10 of them near me, now its like looking for a needle in a haystack.
The gov only loves our money, The greens also love money, thus they want us all driving electric cars that are 100% disposable and keep us dependent on them.
Update. Spray around the hose to free everything up. Push the hose on to the stub as far as it will go, then squeeze the coloured buttons in, then withdraw hose with some wiggle if needed. The in and out slack the hose end has on the fitting is what puts the catch in the release or hold positions. So the coloured bits are a squeeze to release, you just have to have hose pushed firmly ON when you do it.
thanks for that. cheers
Who designed such a stupid thing and how much was spent on this contraction. Talk about trying to re invent the wheel! I remember when all you needed was a 14 spanner and the pipe was off.
hi, some designing baffles me too. cheers
@@YepThatsIt It's all to quicken the build of the car. Every second counts. Bugger us poor saps that have to fix them. I've just bought a 2016 territory with that heat exchanger. Are they reliable, or would you piss it of and just fit a external trans cooler. Thanks for the tips.
