Very very nice! Love the stylish design theme and all the functionality you've built-in. I live near Newcastle NSW in Oz and I had the same idea about brass strip divider features in a Dekton benchtop but the local stonemasons will not have a bar of it! Wish you were here!
Thanks ❤ You're welcome to steal - which bits? I may be able to give you some extra pointers or things to be wary of. For budget which bits are you liking to copy and I can give some guide estimates (although we only work in East Kent, UK and prices will no doubt vary elsewhere). We have a typical cost page: www.rkbb.co.uk/costings but this project is unique and probably the equivalent of 3 or 4 rooms.
Currently planning island with gas hob.. the room will be 7mx7m and have a dinning area opening to garden.. kitchen likely to be 4mx 2.5 currently thinking darker colours. Like the deep units, Dekton is new, little iron board hideaway.. (only not convinced with a high dishwasher - difficult to get the spoons in the top drawers).. also need to plan a pantry .. we r Surrey/Hamps border..
@@vkmumbai OK, that's a pretty normal size for rooms we do so the costings page is about right - £40K-£60K fitted with all labour/lighting/flooring/decorating/furniture/appliances. Dekton is the phrase that put moved it out of the £25K-£39K range. Furniture in that size room probably ranges from £10K-£20K depending upon the style chosen and how many cabinets/panels there are. Flat/modern doors are often less expensive than traditional painted timber doors. Average appliance spend £10K-£15K, Worktops in Dekton average £4K-£7K depending upon shape and size (not including brass inlay that concealed the slab joins), installation (carpenters, plumbers, electricians, plasterers, decorators etc) and the materials they use (plasterboard, floor tiles, etc) £10K-£20K. High dishwashers - you pick the height that suits. This one is higher than I wanted as it sits on top of a retaining wall that I hid (which is why the plinth is actually about 40cm high). Pantry - if it's in a different room, the cost correlates and is proportional to the kitchen furniture, Perhaps £8K-£12K. Gas hob in island: I *think* there are some downdraught/venting hoods for gas but the last few years we've only used Induction. If you don't have a hood built into the hob think about how far down and island hood hangs down (will you be ducking to talk to other people in the room) and if it's a ceiling mounted model how you can safely clean filters (standing on islands and falling off whilst holding a sticky grease filter is often not a good look). If you're using downdraft venting hobs (like the Bora in the video) then early consideration to if you can run ducting through the floor pays dividends later. That's not so easy on a renovation project or to add in once builders have started. I hope that helps, Steve PS Please remember to like the video if you haven't already :-)
@@RootsKent .. Tnx Steve.. our extension has not started yet... Guv says it has to be a gas job.. so no option. Extractor is the big question right now.. Guv also rules out extractors in hobs .. too many curries being made, so while the down draught might catch moisture, but not so effective on smells + sounded very noisy. Was going for standard hood but now thinking ceiling cassette. We might lower the ceiling (using a stud panels that match the island size).. so won’t need to climb on the island to change filter. (Ps love that raspberry pi humidistat, pure genius- have already liked that video)
Hi Craig, Thanks for taking the time to comment. This door was 'black oak', a manmade material with a deep embossed grain effect in a slightly charcoal side of black colour. Unfortunately it has been discontinued although there are several similar doors we have.
Thanks Steve - that's quite helpful... we're attempting to do something similar (we're in NZ). The devil is in the details though because that subtle less than blackness, combined with the texture and the warm lighting, works really well - it's black without feeling harsh or over powering.
Amazing craftsmanship :) thank you for sharing this video. 2 questions: how much would a Bora hob cost? And secondly: what system did you use to make the fridge freezer look flush and not stick out? Thanks 👍
Thanks for the compliment. Team effort though, I designed it but the Roots team fitted it :-). Bora: Depends on model & accessories but a rule of thumb: £3,000. Fridge: It's Fisher & Paykel. On the stainless steel version they have a build in trim kit. It's not available on the black steel version that you see here so I designed one to match the furniture that would meet the ventilation requirements of the fridge.
@@RootsKent thank you for your help, appreciate it:) too bad we’re not local, you have a great team there at Roots and I really enjoy watching your videos
How did you achieve the extraction from the island? What type of ducting and did it interfere with underfloor heating etc? Good video and lovely kitchen, thanks.
We put ducting in the sub floor during the build (it is an extension and we were involved early in the design process, that's not normally an option in an existing room) and if there was underfloor heating that wouldn't have been a problem as we had plenty of depth with the groundworks needed. Most designs like this use the hob in recirculation mode.

Worth moving to Kent just to get this guy doing your kitchen!!
Aww, thanks. I also think Kent is a nice place to live too
Absolutely stunning! Great to see a local business produce such a fantastic product!
Stumbled across something really special, amazing talent
Thanks for taking the time to comment 🥰
Incredibly creative, especially the worktop/table with radiating brass lines. Superb
Very clever design and use of materials with an absolutely beautiful result.
unbelievably stylish! I want one!
Very Nice!! Great job!
Thats a stunning kitchen!
Stunning kitchen :)
Great design and video. Do you have a link to where the amazing handles are from? Thanks
Hi Tej, sorry - they were discontinued last year 😢
Fab and innovative design. Going to steal some ideas... Any idea on the budget? Going to show it to our builders

Love your work!!! Wow! My question is what kind of glass/mirror material you used for the backsplash? Thanks a lot! All the best!
Thanks, It's bronze tinted mirror
We love this kitchen - well done and thanks for taking the time to share it. What colour/finish is the cabinetry exactly?

Just thinking that instead of flip switch board how would telescopic switch board be better option
Looks great! Hacker units?
Well spotted :-)
