- Nov. 21 (Bloomberg) -- AeroFarms has developed a vertical farming system that can grow organic baby leafy greens in urban settings. They're doing it using aeroponics -- the process of growing plants in mist without any soil -- and plan to launch a branded product from a new 80,000-square-foot warehouse in Newark, New Jersey. AeroFarms CEO and Co-Founder David Rosenberg talks to Bloomberg's Sam Grobart about how the company is bringing their produce mainstream for Bloomberg's "The Year Ahead: 2015" series. Definitely the direction we need to head in
6 years later we are well on our way😌 farmers will have jobs, the planet will thrive, and the public will eat well and be well
Just the kind of thing we need right now. The cost may be an issue right now , but with enough technological advancements and mass production this might be the next big thing.
Love the idea, hope they make it
In case you're still wondering, they did :)
@@dainironfoot5198they just went bankrupt….
Zeitgeist Beweging Nederland Government subsidized yuppie lettuce is the future of farming... So Ed when are you upgrading your greenhouse?
Justin Templer there is no Ed involved with TZM NL. So please don't bother us with your internet vendetta. That's between you and him. Thank you.
Zeitgeist Beweging Nederland Ed sure seems to think he's part of TZM NL, I guess that makes him a liar? and I have no clue what you are talking about, I don't have any vendettas, I'm here to challenge false claims made by people like yourself.
Your aeroponic/hydropoic vertical garden claims are bullshit, there's nothing sustainable about growing lettuce that costs $4.00 a pound. Very little can be grown hydroponically, what can be sustainably grown is already being done by companies like Archer Daniels Midland and they've been doing it for 30 years.
Justin Templer did you get an erection when I said that Justin? Did you already made a few screenshots for your 'FBI evidence wall' in Microsoft Paint? You sure did didn't you?... If truth is what you're looking for then here's some personal truth. That thing you and Ed have going on is a personal vendetta, it's not about truth. Your last childish display is proof of that, editing people's photo's to ridicule them... That's personal right there...
If you have information then please, by all means, share it. I'll check out the information you gave here. That's where TZM is all about, it's not dogmatic, it's about finding the best solutions. So if it's about truth, then please share just your information here and keep your angry little kid that's inside you out of it. Thank you. That's all, don't expect replies in the future if it's a personal attack. If it's objective and contains solid information, then we have a dialogue. Please make a screenshot of that for your collection, so you won't forget...
Zeitgeist Beweging Nederland What's fun about TZM members is how they contradict each other and then play the victim card when they get egg on their face.
TZM is like a propaganda mill for pop science fantasy bullshit. You pay lip service to the scientific method but you only check things out *AFTER* you've indoctrinated your membership and turned them into mindless parrots. (Parrots like Ed)
Four+ years of TZM pimping hydroponics and you can't point me to a single tested working hydroponic project by TZM members which is why we find you pimping the Zeitgeist Movement on videos like this. why test anything when you can be a parrot.
this is horrible my family has been living on a farm for generations and we have always don it the old fashion way and we are still going to do it that way
I totally understand you. But a paradigm shift has now happened. Starting December 21 2020. You must learn astrology if you want your farm to succeed. We have just shifted from paradigm of earth to paradigm of air.
And learn now about uranus in taurus....directly affects farmers!!!! Especially dairy and beef farmers. We are in it right now!!!!! This is why our money is changing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We need all farmers now!!!
Most definitely the future.2021....
THis is slightly Depressing. Its not just about transitioning to a better way of farming than traditional commersial AG which is completely suicidal and inherently inefficient albeit Ultra simplified. We need to support systems that are healing the landscapes, building soil, and supporting ecological systems. Not high capital Industrial Corporate owned tower farms.
Amazing idea.
great idea California need this so badly.
More nuanced: California needs the rest of the country to adopt this, because California produces nearly half
of U.S.-grown fruits, nuts and vegetables. Then California wouldn't have to grow as much food, and transportation costs would be cut.
The Central Valley is full of billboards that say "Water = Jobs" or similar propaganda. But farming only accounts for 3% of CA jobs (and only 1% of CA GDP). So it only takes a small public opinion change to get water regulations implemented.
Coated leafy greens as you say now have a much longer shelf life & and from the looks of them no spoilage.
So on the one hand technologies improve distributive flow quality capacity an cost in the traditional realm. While new technologies hope to strike it big by creating a new market distributive flow system under the realm of "better"
attracting investment
But when the thing looks the same where is the better you looking at needing an educated audience and then you hope your physics are truly better.
Is there any online course about eco planting
We offer all kinds of led lights for the farming, vertical farming, greenhouse or marijuana growing.
which music it was on 3:50
Aerophonics is not new. In Singapore, they have a vertical farm named "Sky Greens". Go check it out. The whole concept is not new. But the idea of a vertical farm if your PSF costs are that high, justifies itself. In the states, the PSF prices of real estate isn't as high. So, vertical farms are harder to take off.
those vertical farms in singapore use aquaponics, not aeroponics
How would this go for cannabis?
Nice future trend ..
joselito but its just leaves
salim felix in pfantasy
Weed.
Why only leaf? No fruit, nuts?
Aeroponics is not organic. And the biggest problem is going to be cost, even with tax credits it's still very expensive to grow this way and there's only so many yuppies that are willing to shell out for expensive salad greens.
An outfit in Vancouver BC with much smaller ambitions went bankrupt in under two years owing its creditors 4 million dollars
lilbunnyfoofoo Your vegan diet has turned you into an idiot. It doesn't beat anything because you can't survive on a hydroponic/aeroponic diet. You would literally starve to death.
lilbunnyfoofoo Hey moron -> vegan diet ≠ hydroponic/aeroponic
Very little of what vegans eat is grown using hydroponics and aeroponics, you literally would starve to death with you limited yourself to those technologies. Your response actually confirms that you are in fact an idiot.
P.S. please learn what an ad hominem is.
+Justin Templer how is it not organic?
Ddstairclimber Duh!!! Organic requires the use of soil. Any more stupid questions?
www.towergarden.com/content/towergarden/en-us/what-is-tower-garden/faq/is-the-tower-garden-growing-system-organic.html
+Justin Templer the article says its not organic, but id doesn't say anything regarding which one is better in terms of minerals and nutrition.
Really?...,..duh
