@@mrreyna8925 Hell they wouldn't even be able to do that. Not to mention a lot of the subtle stuff, like how the machine AI Cortana is more human than the human John who is mentally more like a machine. That was always one of the best parts of the saga, the subtle undertone of Chief being taught/influenced by Cortana to be more human and not just a weapon.
Even when Chief was grieving Cortana's loss, he only did when he was alone (and even then those were still subdued). The instant another person arrives, he snaps back to attention.
The Spartans treated Dr. Halsey with respect and would take her orders above anyone else if there was no higher chain of command or if the chain of command was considered compromised so removing her would make the Spartans suspicious. The Spartans were chosen by her because of their genetics, intelligence and psychology because Halsey wanted them to be immune to mental trauma. The training that they received was such that in combat situations they are able override fear and more. She even had them go through procedures to increase intelligence, thinking speed, reaction time, bone density, physical size, strength and much more. They did not use medication to suppress their emotions because of the training they received they did not need to. The only spartan that was social and good at communicating with others was called Kurt in the books and he was used as a trainer for the next generation of Spartans at this point. Their training is such that in combat when close to one another they did not even say anything they used a sign language with subtle movement that most people could not read if they were not Spartans. The Spartans knew about their Equipment since they designed most of it themselves during training and they improvised to get it when in a pitch black cave with nothing and you say they can't find away up a mountain. It was only later that they received the Mjollnir armor because normal people died trying to wear the Exo-skeletal armor, later after the humans reverse engineered the covenant tech the suits got a shield.
I always found the emotional implants the worst part of the series writing wise. It basically removes all weight in the Spartans decisions and all the implications of thier training. It even removes the close relationships they have with each other as most of their behavior is now dictated by the implants.

A drinking game where you take a drink every time Master Chief takes off his helmet would result in alcohol poisoning. Better to drink each time he has it on - you'll barely get a buzz.
You probably wouldn't even get that drunk from your first drinking game. This is due to the fact he must wear the helmet to be capable of taking it off.

Which is really dumb given what we know of Chief is that him and Cortana, one is a human that acts like a machine and the other is a machine that acts more like a human. And that is how Chief develops, his time with Cortana who helped him become more than a weapon through her humanity.
All they had to do was an OT Darth Vader type deal, ie: Steve Downes voicing the Chief, with an appropriate actor in the suit. No face reveal, no helmet off at ALL!
@@PracticalTacticalFedeli It is easy, in a world were the story is actually more important than actors egos. They are paid to do a job, why can't they do it right. And they even had the audacity of asking for a raise, they should have been all fired to give a chance to new talent.
@@cristela4034 I was agreeing with the original comment. I was just trying to make a joke considering how big of a joke the show is. They have completely bastardized everything about the story and characters and it’s just awful all around.
Blame the show runners for that. I thought Pablo Schreiber was good in American Gods. I haven't watched Halo, but guessing this is how they want Master Chief to act. After all, his emotions were supposed to be suppressed by a combination of his implant and his AI. I'm also guessing the implant was ditched and the AI retained to allow for a female lead to direct the weak and newly emotional male. It's how they want Master Chief to act.
I love 'Sneaky Mr. Chief'. The character is seven feet tall. You can't hide that with a hoodie. "Is that hulking shape in a hoodie Master Chief? Oh my mistake, it's probably just Shaquille O'Neal."

the writers seem to think that it's the armor that makes him so big because he's not any bigger than a normal person out of it. this tells you how little they understand about his size.
@@Quandry1they did that to save money, you're not going find many out there that is that tall with enough bulk. Meaning they would have to resort to special effects in many ways to make it work. Also, also, how can he not believe John Halo's description of events? The first game established that everyone has a *fucking camera* in their helmet!!
Remember how in Halo Headhunters, Spartans III were ambushed by cloaked Elite Zealot's? Spartans were wearing custom SPI armor without energy shields. They had built in VISR that allowed to see cloaked enemies. Also how come Spartan helmets can't record POV, even Marines had cams on their helmets? Ah, then ONI would be able to verify Master Cheek's claims, how inconvenient
Master Chief should be like Judge Dredd - always suited up, helmet on. And in stasis when not needed in a military situation. That's pretty much how it is in the games. @CurtyTails I think the halo writers would rather do their own thing and be comfortable than learn what makes Halo Halo and make a series that can capitalize on that.
Must be the Star Trek Discovery (STD) writing team, or they’ve been cloned. Master Chief getting the Burnham treatment. I only hope he cries nearly as much in every episode…
The hilarity that Star Trek Discovery acronym is STD, and how on-brand it is to call the show and it’s ‘writers’ both STDs, surprisingly self aware for the ‘entertainment’ industry.
What's frustrating is that it could0ve been a great series about Master Chief and The Arbiter in parallel, thus humanizing the Covenant while showing us the dark reality of the Project Spartan, a parallel story that converges in a season finale of them clashing for the first time. But nooo, hack writers butcher another franchise.
I completely agree with you. It’s such a massive shame tbh. I feel like literally any serious Halo fan could write a decent show. These show runners clearly know absolutely nothing about the source material and haven’t ever played the games. It honestly feels like this is a big middle finger to us fans.
The Halo universe is not “dark and gritty”, sure it has dark elements but is mainly bright, inspiring, and full of awe. They just fundamentally misunderstand Halo
The novels are, some of which can almost reach the level of Lovecraftian horror stories.
10 місяців тому
Well it does have some darkness, mainly in the body horror of the flood and the genocide of humanity, but over all it is your classic underdog heroes fighting against a greater force and triumphing over it, not to mention being able to get the truth out to many in the covenant about the Great Journey and causing the civil war which was also freeing those races from the tyranny of the Prophets and their religious dictatorship.
That commander must have studied strategy under the Jon Snow military guide to losing. He sends in his entire Calvary into the darkness to encounter the enemy before they had any reconnaissance. They have no idea how large the enemy is or what weapons they are carrying, but you send in your Calvary to get completely obliterated in the dark. Dan & Dave had to have a hand in that writing.

You can't tell me that any of the story makers have even SEEN any of the HALO games, they've been given a few characters and been told to "just remember to follow the checklist"
I couldn’t get past the first episode. Iirc, that survivor girl threatened to lie about what really happened and claim the marines killed the villagers instead of trying to save them just because she wanted to perpetuate a rebellion and a war which would see many people dead. She got called out on her lie with a weak “but that’s not what happened” and her response was basically “that’s the narrative I want to believe so it’s true to me” and nobody mentioned how stupid that sounded. So they ordered her to be killed, which again, not the thing ever, but they DID save her life and she said she would use it to incite violence and the death of thousands of others, so it’s a fair call imo. But of course THEY were made to look like the villains and it seemed like the show wanted me to root for the survival of this girl and be happy Master Chief disobeyed orders. It felt like Robyn Hood syndrome where the writers can’t figure out what is virtue and what is villainy.

It is absolute stupidity too, start a rebellion to do what? Be the ones in charge when the Covenant show up to glass Earth after wiping out the rest of humanity? To have a free world from the UNSC so you can only have a bunch of random people fighting off an entire covenant fleet and army? The minute the Covies show up its us vs them, infighting would be the dumbest thing to do and honestly it would be better to just leave those fools to die than try to save them.
If 'male + pale = stale.' What does it say about the group that wears the skin suit of billion dollar IPs that were created by pales, but can't make any money on those same IPs. (Rocksteady, Star Wars, DC, Marvel, Halo, LotR, Robinhood, Bond, Indiana Jones, etc.) Almost like the fans of those creations didn't care about the creators skin color and more so the content of the characters in those IPs.
The only action scene I need is the bomb sequence from the end of Halo 2’s Cairo Station. Over-the-top and funny, but also stoic and badass. Just how Halo should be.
That scene when Sanctuary gets glassed is really good, it shows the extremely brutal nature of the planet slowly getting destroyed. It's only extremely flawed in that everyone there is going to die, either shot down by the Covenant fleet or the planet getting glassed. Every single ship leaving the surface as late as the planet is actively getting glassed should've been shot down. Which means, no more John Halo or Silver Team. You can show a planet getting glassed without having your protagonists there.

@@Wuunderboy Not going to argue the show being a joke, that's pretty much undeniable. But as for the armour, neither of those situations were purely down to the armour by itself. Both Six and Chief had external factors in their survival (Chief and the piece of the Forerunner ship, Six and his dedicated Re-Entry Unit). Meanwhile, other Spartans in the novels (the ones without plot armour) have fallen from considerably lower heights and died. The fact that the cutscenes suggest Six didn't seem to even need Armour Lock to survive the orbital drop, despite falling from a greater height than the Chief and in Mk-V rather than the Chief's Mk-VI, speaks more about the Re-Entry Unit than the armour itself.

Dorothy Parker once remarked of Katherine Hepburn, "She ran the gamut of emotions from A to B". A better actor than Schreiber could have kept Master Chief's helmet and armor on, and still managed to convey Chief's character to the audience. I'm thinking , for example, of MC's reaction to Palmer's comment, "I thought you'd be taller". Chief gives her a look that conveys contempt for her arrogance purely through body language. (Or consider the well-known scene with Del Rio; it's all communicated by body language and voice-acting.) The animators knew how to do that; a talented actor, with a dedication to his craft, could take on the task and do even better than a character model. The job of an actor is to re-present the character, not his own personality and egotism. But the writers clearly didn't have a clue who Master Chief is, the nature of his mission, or his integrity and heroism. I suppose all that got dumped into the category of "toxic masculinity" and erased. But they admitted they'd never played the games or read the books, which is the minimal research you'd expect them to put in, so instead we got this weak, morally ambiguous, male in need of a shrink, beloved of misandrist feminists, so one can't entirely fault Pablo. He only had trash to work with.
I watched a film last night called "The Outfit" With minor spoilers, there is a character in it who acts a certain way when around certain people but when alone, you catch a glimpse of the 'real' character. It hurts my soul. I’ve been reading these books and playing these games since I was in junior high… The books were ruthless. They read like military history.
@@PracticalTacticalFedelithe Fall of Reach is one of my favorite books ever. Actually if they would’ve done the first 3 books with The Flood and First Strike being the other two, this show would be amazing. Each season could be a separate book and it would be the best thing on TV!!!

Master Cheeks - Even more emotional than a woman. Always up in his fefe's
Master Chief - Not phased by shit, except maybe losing his waifu Cortana.
Master Chef: Serving them dishes.
Just wanted to let you know you misspelled Chief.
Season 2 we now have Master Handkerchief :):)
Even when Chief was grieving Cortana's loss, he only did when he was alone (and even then those were still subdued). The instant another person arrives, he snaps back to attention.
Bring back season 1 Cortana. This replacement is an abomination.
nah nah, this is big John Halo energy.

Blame the show runners for that. I thought Pablo Schreiber was good in American Gods. I haven't watched Halo, but guessing this is how they want Master Chief to act. @CurtyTails I think the halo writers would rather do their own thing and be comfortable than learn what makes Halo Halo and make a series that can capitalize on that.

What's frustrating is that it could0ve been a great series about Master Chief and The Arbiter in parallel, thus humanizing the Covenant while showing us the dark reality of the Project Spartan, a parallel story that converges in a season finale of them clashing for the first time.

The minute the Covies show up its us vs them, infighting would be the dumbest thing to do and honestly it would be better to just leave those fools to die than try to save them.

There is a scene where the character is supposed to be meek, but when alone acts in a manner that makes you think "Hang on" if you catch the subtle differences. A tiny difference such as the character lighting a cigarette with steady hands, just moments after appearing to afraid. The switches are done without any dialogue but you once you are aware of it, you can tell when you are seeing the public persona and the 'real' character underneath the facade.
The entire rest of the writing would still let down the show even if he did keep the helmet on
Halo Season 2: Master Cheeks!
Also First! For a change.
Would’ve given you a like for the funny pun, but after claiming “first” I will keep my like…
@@GIBBO4182 No worries! Instead of a single click I got a whole comment!
haha funny joke shadowjack239 :)
@@shadowjack239such a rosy disposition. Have my like and comment _and_ subscription. But remember: true Firstma Males don’t say week stuff like “for a change”. They send that “First” hard and keep on rolling, like First was their birthright. The ones who follow after you should catch nothing but your afterimage. Shinobi style.
@@jeremytitus9519Your generosity with the Way of Firstma is more than complement enough, sensei. I shall practice this art and become stronger.
One day, I shall master this power and be worthy.
Cortana joining that "Plastic Surgery" trend.
Master chief should have never taken his helmet off. Who ever wrote that in, doesn't care for the Halo IP. They wanted to put their mark on it and say look what I did. I can't believe this even got shown the light of day. It's fkn vomit inducing self agrandizing. The dialog, fight scenes, and personal inflections are a fkn SICKNESSSSS.
I turned the brightness on my phone up to the point I could literally light my entire house....AND STILL COULDN'T SEE A DAMN THING!!
Must have taken inspiration from Game of Thrones The Long Night episode.
Red vs Blue is the only halo series i acknowledge
"You ever wonder why we’re here?"
Halo Foward unto dawn is pretty lit if yah don't mind a slow burn start.
