Very good review! I like how quiet it is and it looks very well designed with quality details. I ordered mine the same color and hopefully I can keep it going for many hours with my Rockpals 100W solar panel and Jackery Explorer 240. 10.66 watts average on fridge mode is very impressive, I'm thinking setting mine to 35-36 degrees and see how it goes. Also I would definitely like to see your videos on solar setups and also that power box.
Thanks, I have quite a few things going on for work so I will get that video made up soon. I have 150watts of solar and a portable charge controller that I made. It all works well.
Problem with the vl45 is it is physically big. >19" height means it does not fit under load covers on my vehicles. The JP 40 and this 42 are around 17.5" high so do fit. How does the JP 40 compare with the JP 42 and vl 45?
Thanks for the reply. I measured the voltage between 13.99 and 14v. All other cigarette style accessories work fine. I'm thinking that the cooler isn't drawing enough amps for the generator to kick in. Weird.
That could be the issue. You could always put a small load on the generator in parallel with the fridge so the generator "turns on" DC power for the fridge. Running these off a small portable battery is also a great option. They use about 2amp hours max per hour.
Yes you are right! That port seams to have trouble with small loads in, won't charge ear buds or my charger for my rechargeable batteries with a USB adapter. I have emailed the manufacturer and will let you know the outcome. Otherwise a great cooler though! Now if you excuse me I have to binge watch your channel! Thanks again!
Maybe if you had ice in it. It needs power to stay cool. Think of it like the fridge in your house, it will go maybe an hour before it starts getting to warm for food to not spoil.
I have some space between the front seats in my pickup 15” wide where normally a center console or jump-seat would be installed. I really like this fridge because it has the built-in cup holders. Would you recommend any other fridge similar to this or is it a no-brainer to buy this one?
Great review 👍 I think I was one of the last backers b4 they stopped. All they had was the blue one and it was 446$ . More expensive than the earlier prices but I still think its a great price for a cooler like this. Hopefully they ship it lol.. been reading alot of disgruntled people about not getting a confirmation on shipping.. 😱 I'm gonna pair it with a Jackery 500 that I just ordered.
Awesome! You'll love it! I am just finishing up a video talking about 11 different fridges. I talk about some options to get around using the 12 volt socket. Should be out in the next day or so
Question about the dimensions: I'd like to fit this between front seats, there is just a tiny bit over 14 inches. It says the width is 16.3inches, but I'm wondering if that is with the latches that stick out sort of far. Throwing out a hail mary here, but would be a huge help if you could measure the width of the bottom of the cooler ..
Nice review! Being a 3 in 1 if unplugged from a power source for a few hours would it retain temp more efficiently than another 12v fridge/freezer without the extra “cooler” insulation; I’m guessing it would. 🙂. Does the 3 in 1 have the 3 zone layering like the VL does?
I have video reviews on both models. The 3in1 is very tough and durable, the VL series is more efficient. I like both but prefer the larger storage of the VL series a little more.
Great review. I'm really interested in your power set up in the back of your 4Runner. I have a 3rd Gen 4Runner and i would like to do something similar? Did you do a video on the installation of your power center?
@@Jasonoid One more questions, if you don’t mind, how did you run the wire to the starter battery. 3rd gens are notorious for leaking around the wiring harness at the firewall. I’m hesitant to run a wire through it. So far it has not leaked.
@@gbrianmullinax8448 I went through a firewall hole that was pretty far up, nice large runner grommet. I doubt it will leak since it's up near the steering wheel. I'd suggest giving that a try, you can always reroute it if you have a leak.

The IndieGOGO and Kickstarter first version fridges used a no name brand compressor. It works well and doesn't have any issues. I just found out that the new ICECO JP42 models available from ICECO's website use a Secop compressor (same as Danfoss). I would like to confirm this for myself but I think that is the case!
I use it as a fridge most of the time because it runs so efficiently. You could put ice in it, then run it as a fridge to keep it cooler over time. 10 watts is hardly anything though. With a battery and solar panel (like running off your truck battery) this thing would run awhile without issues.
Just got mine a couple of days ago and found it gets an E2 error when plugged into dedicated 12 on generator or when plugged into my truck and stop and start again. Hopefully they will fix this as I won't be checking on the cooler every time I stop for gas.
I think the E2 error has to do with the compressor starting and stopping too frequently. Is the power source cutting out or the fridge power being unplugged while the compressor is running? Is that something you are seeing on your fridge?
Thank you for the reply! After lowering the cut out on the cooler, it seams to work fine in the truck but still won't work with the generator. Other devices work and I can measure the amp draw however the cooler doesn't seam to draw any amps when plugged in. I don't know if this is a generator or cooler problem. Have you heard of this before? Thanks again!
@@brianh9324 What's the voltage output of the generator? If the voltage is too low the fridge won't turn on. Less than 10 volts would be an issue. These fridges like around 13-14.5volts. Also, you may need to hold the power button after plugging it in to get it to turn on with the generator.
I just unboxed mine and plugged it into my wall socket. I had big trouble getting it to turn on. Now I can't get it to change the temperature from 46F.. I sure wished you had showed how to turn it on and change the temp.
You have to hold the power button to turn it on. Once it's powered on you just push the down arrow to drop the temp 'setting'. Once the setting is set at say 32 degrees, it will go back to displaying the current inside temp. It takes time for the temp to drop when you first turn it on. Do you hear the fan and compressor running at all?
@@Jasonoid The temperature is already down to 25. It went to 46 so fast I thought that couldn't be right. It's working awesome. I got the white which is a nice ivory color to deflect the hot sun. Thank you!!!
I have had the GO20 like yours but in white for some time. Is very efficient I just find that it doesn't seem to be well insulated. I just purchased one. If I set it down or move it around you can hear parts move around a bit in the compressor area...is that normal? Or should I be able to shake it and not get any noise from that area?
