    It is definitely a win-win opportunity for the helping neighbors. With this having been farm land, chances are many of them admired or worked on this property. It must have been heart wrenching to witness it decay for the last 5 years. The willingness to help is their way in honoring this land. Japanese are so respectable.

    Im jealous, looks like all the neighbors were having fun helping clean up. I had to get ugly with my neighbor because he kept throwing dog poo over my fence. We havnt spoken in 5 years. The one on the other side is a nosy, flirty 40 year old divorced lady that dosnt like my wife. The ones across the street are my parents, love them, no complaints. Somehow we fell in with a local building company and the bosses were amused at what we were doing and said "We are on your side" . Plenty of free stuff because they cannot store or keep tabs in the returns. We have free range around the incinerator and the workers set things aside. We are also friends with a guy who pulls down houses and he calls us to come a loot anything before demolishing the property. Generous people.

    The people in the community must be so happy that someone who appreciates that house is moving in to the neighborhood. In a previous video, you mentioned that it's only a 45 minute train ride to the city, so perhaps your new community is not suffering from de-population? If it is, and your kids are attending local schools, the community will be so happy to have more students to keep the schools open. Some country schools are down to their last 5 kids and will be closed within a few years. There are so many beautiful properties and communities in rural Japan and it would be wonderful if people could move back in. Perhaps work-at-home lifestyle changes from the pandemic will help bring people back to the countryside?

    • @TokyoLlama
      @TokyoLlama  3 роки тому

      This area is not being hugely affected by depopulation as yet - mostly aging. Our town is 10-15 minutes drive from the station so it's not as convenient as other nearby places. Some of the local schools have recently merged due to a lack of numbers. I think some people that can telework are already starting to move out of Tokyo.

      My guess is since this was a rural home, they had a similar situation, and as far as the placement is concerned, why ruin the image of the beatiful roof, when you can install the heater on the shed? Also easier access if/when if malfunctions.

    • @rushedman
      @rushedman 4 роки тому

      @@reman81 That is where I would honestly just suggest a ground mount. But fair enough I just am glad I was not the one who ran all that pipe. It looks the previous owner had some serious rice business going, and maybe that heater served the outside more than the main house. and since the house was surrounded by tall bushes(seen in the photos of when it was built), and bamboo trees as well, maybe they had an issue with getting enough sunlight in ground height?
