Let me give you some info on this incredible trio and event:
    • Igor Krutoy, the pianist, is there as an overall lead because the event is built for him: this is his birthday event that he organized with all his favorite artists, the ones that he is used to collaborate with and the songs he has composed. Igor is considered as the godfather of the russian music scene, a bigger equivalent for Russia of David Foster for North America.
    • This is not the first time that Lara sings this song (composed by Igor) in trio but the third time: she performed in the original version with Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Alina Yaroyava then again later with Dmitriy and Sumi Jo, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida. The song was composed from day one with her voice in mind. She has been collaborating with Igor for more than 10 years, they co-created many songs together and he has told from her that she is “the best singer and the best songwriter he has ever worked with”
    • This also explains why the song does not expose more of Dimash’s upper register: it was written for the late Dmitri who was a pure baryton.
    • Lara was very very sick that day, with fever and strong medication but she is skilled enough to have made it unnoticeable
    • Also, like Dimash, and even if the song was composed that way with her in mind, Lara does not sing in her real « comfort zone »: she is, as Aida, a lyrical soprano but here she plays the role in the trio of a mezzo-soprano and takes the median register. It requires a lot of voice control to not interfere with Aida’s high note and does not allow her to really shine. She gives room to Aida to do it instead and Aida uses this magnificently.
    • It was the first time Dimash met his idol Lara (he is a fan since he is a child and he covered several of her songs such as Adagio, Love of Tired Swans, Mademoiselle Hyde, Know, …): look how quickly he turned to her, despite he has not finished his duo section with Aida 😂 And how he looks at her and hold her after it …
    • Lara is the most comfortable in italian because it is her first native language even before french: her mother is italian and while born in Belgium she spent her first 5 years in sicilia before returning there. She also is married to a sicilian man
    • Look how dimash slightly adapted his vibrato to better match Aida or Lara
    • Also there is a debate about the final note, held for such a long time, with the conductor looking at Igor and Igor smiling: Did they make a prank to the singers by extending this last note? Or did the singers instead played with them? I personnally think this is more option 1 😀
    • I forgot to add that Lara has been classically trained for more than 10 years at Brussels Royal Conservatory and still continues to receive voice lessons on a daily basis. And she has sung many times opera pieces or with opera singers.
    • Final note to say that Lara Fabian wrote the lyrics of the song Your Love for Dimash

Eric, I respectfully say Igor had introduced he and Lara to each other long before and loves to tell the story. By this event, they were fast friends, been guests at each other's homes and performed together. Her filmed birthday greeting to him much earlier, standing at her kitchen sink washing something to include her husband pounding on the piano singing "Happy Birthday to Dimash" from down the hall 2 rooms away and her yelling "Gabriel you CAN'T SING !... anyway Dimash"...is a moment of film history 🤣
I grew up in Kazakhstan, my sister and several friends went to uni with him. and Igor told the introduction story on Russian or Kazakh tv, Dimash sitting there grinning, hilarious. If I'm not mistaken, the story of Lara sick is a bit exaggerated and if anything, he was trying not to laugh according to all of them. Trained to modulate when singing with others, he's well known for his attention and generous accommodation to fellow performers onstage. My best wishes to you and those you cherish for a safe, healthy and terrific Merry Christmas ! 🌲

@@PatriciaPalmer-o3e just one question: I have read 2 versions. One saying that indeed Igor introduced Lara to Dimash, and another one saying it’s Lara who introduced Dimash to Igor after his cover of adagio in The Singer. You thus confirm the first version is the real one?

@@ericsicard910 As I said, Igor loves to tell the story, unbeknownst to him, Dimash had long had a fan crush, here they were at an event, walking down this long hall, "this tall elegant young man, heads turning as we pass", (Dimash grinning and nodding on the couch), said 15 feet from her, Dimash stuck out his hand, said Hi I'm Lara, tripped over his own feet, arms flying, grabbed him, I thought he was sick ! Are you alright ? (Dimash nodding, grinning) Lara jumped right in, started talking immediately, she took his arm then talking like old friends, "they walked off and left me standing there !" We fell off the couch laughing !
Igor is a billionaire businessman, well known in Russia AND a maestro composer. He indicates after urging, he saw Dimash perform and after reflection, came out of semi retirement to mentor and compose for him. He said there was literally nothing out there for him to sing that would showcase his abilities and who would do it in a timely manner for his career and life if he didn't. He said he felt compelled to for a number of reasons. He did the same for Lara much earlier and wasn't retired. We are all fortunate and Igor was an influence in his application for the Doctoral Program, daunting at best. One of the toughest programs in the world to get into, requiring top grades in every under and grad school advanced math, auditions, recommendations, Composition is a killer, few qualify, fewer complete it. Coursework complete, writing his PhD thesis, they can take years, and then argue it. He needed the weight of the education now to compose seriously and says he plans to teach on the university level later in life, requiring it. Best of luck to you, Eric !

❗Funny story ! Lara, in a TV interview tells of Aida cocking her head at Dimash during rehearsal saying, hey, if I have to run out for something he can sing MY part. Then burst out laughing.! They all folded and couldn't pull themselves together. Deep breaths. OK we're ready. One would start singing, look at the other and dissolve into laughter. She said when Aida, blinking like a crazy person looking everywhere but at Dimash choked on her note and snorted it through her nose, Dimash was laughing so hard no sound was coming out and Igor was hysterical pounding on the piano top gasping Lunch ! Break ! Great we all thought ! Chuckling, she said, we put on our coats, walked outside, I looked at my watch and it was 9:30 in the morning ! The audience roared and so did I ! Beautiful, talented, when she was blinking like mad, imitating Aida looking aroound, I was on the floor ! She can tell a funny story !

Dimash formally trained in classical and opera singing, not just absorbed it from his parents, though his mother was his first early voice teacher before he was taught by Marat Aitimov at the K Zhubanov Aktobe Music College. He went on the the National University of the Arts in Astana where he obtained a bachelor’s in jazz and contemporary music, a master’s in composition, and is now finishing a PhD in musicology.

Same for Lara, she has been classically trained from 8 to 18 yo in Brussels Royal Conservatory for opera songs, piano and songs composition.
She only moved away from opera to pop because she is first and foremost a songwriter in 4 languages. She wrote the lyrics of Your Love for Dimash and mano ither songs that Dimash covered.

🎼✅Igor likes playing piano, friends who sing his songs, choirs, orchestras, the works, and birthday parties. So why not hold his own 65th birthday party at an ice skating rink, and have skaters skate to his songs? It went on for hours, with this song being just one part of the programme, and I must say that, even though I'm not really an opera freak, and skating is cool but not especially my thing, and I'm just watching a video, I still enjoyed it. How the rich play is one aspect, but also how great artists can put on a show too! Peace and love from the UK. 🕊💖

Only his mother is an opera singer. His dad is a performer but not an opera singer.
This is a performance from a gala for Igor Krutoy's birthday in the year this was done.
