Stuarts knowledge of Strawberry Shortcake was never laughed at again, except once, but he drowned em out with his badass new stereo. 💪💪👍
ELITE comment.
Christopher Reynolds mentioned Talk About. For those that don't know, it's coming to Buzzr sometime this month. {May 2022.}
15:34 - Scott Bremner, he also did voice overs for John Candy's cartoon "Camp Candy". He died in 1998 in a car accident, he was 19.
From both the creator and producers of "Talk About". Nice!!!
Noticed they use the same monitors & font.
More ironic, both shows made their way into American syndication, at least in Boston. 5-4-3-2-Run aired on WLVI, while Talk About was on Fox 25 WFXT.
@@AdamJ617 In the Delaware Valley area, "Run" was on PHL 17, while "Talk" was on Fox 29.
@@BradDP90 Only with "Talk About" the mock categories in the intro sometimes took up three rows. In "5-4-3-2-Run" they took up only two rows.
As far as I remember, this show was never rebroadcast in Canada since it went off the CTV airwaves in 1990. Not even GameTV reran this show, and I think they should consider a Saturday morning kids' programming block with this show, along with reruns of "Uh Oh!" and one hour of "Just Like Mom" or "Just Like Mom and Dad". I am very surprised "Uh Oh!" never got reran on GameTV yet.
I did learn that host Andrew Cochran later became a lawyer.
Before he became a lawyer, Andrew Cochran hosted 'Switchback' on CBC Nova Scotia, as well as being responsible for Theodore Tugboat!
Not gonna lie, I enjoyed watching this.
Oh, really? "Red Herring" was an incorrect answer? Who would've guessed? 🤣🤣🤣
7:30 - Tammi-Lynn presses a plunger and went home with a gift after a tube container on her head which is Peanuts.
17:30 sleepy is a dwarf from Snow White but lazy smurf do sleep a lot in the Smurfs series.
The Green Stream claims another victim🤣. I've heard that prize music at the midpoint of the episode on a lot of direct marketing TV ads in the 80's...can anyone name that tune? Anyway, this was a treat Wink!
Seems like an earlier version of 101 Ways to Leave a Game Show.
Out of all the Double Dare-inspired kids game shows from the late 80s/early 90s, this one’s pretty dang endearing
13:22 - Grabbin Dragons got its start on _our_ shores in 1981, but made by Hasbro.
What do u get if you mix Fun House , Double Dare and Beat the Clock u get this 😁
I think there's more Double Dare elements in this show, than Fun House and Beat the Clock.
And Trivia Trap
How do you compete with the powerhouse that was "Double Dare"? By making the physical stunts the way you answer the trivia! Getting eight contestants into play in a thirty minute game show while also giving each kid a chance at an intro was a *feat* and a testament to the host, who was also demoing all these stunts. The final round - where EVERY kid could get the prize they want, but only if they picked a unique prize - would also be fun adapted to a more mature show.
But man, for a daytime TV show, that stage was dark and full of shadows. A bit more sound design wouldn't have been remiss either!
Also compare The Whole 19 Yards, a short lived primetime big money game from the 00s where adults had to cross - you guessed how big the set was - in order to pick an answer.
Completely off topic here. Wink. I know you shared several Gambit episodes including the finale from December 1976. With the 50th anniversary of Gambit coming up this September 4th, might you have or be able to share with us the first ever Gambit ep from CBS? That would be the ultimate crown jewel in the triple crown, as both Joker's Wild and Price is Right's first episodes from that date are already available online. As a side note, I own two replica Gambit decks...loved those cards, loved the game, and especially you, a man after my own initials! W.M.
Looks like if Trivia Trap and Double Dare had a baby 😂
Boy, everyone was getting in on Nickelodeon’s You Can’t Do That On Television slime gimmick!
5-4-3-2-Run was first produced for CTV, and so was You Can't Do That On Television. So it's probably no coincidence.
YCDTOT was actually a Canadian TV program (programme for those of you in Canada) which seemed to get a lot of traction in the US.
I half-expected someone to get the classic green slime here.
25:16 Mark Maxwell-Smith (and also you, Wink) should be given honorary Canadian Citizenship AND the Order of Canada for services to the local Game Show industry.
Canadian! 🇨🇦
The one thing I hated about Canadian games shows are the cheap payouts. Then again, they tax you to death up there, which is partly as to why shows, and sponsors didn't pay out much, or contestants wanting the larger wins.
Actually they don't... game show and lottery winnings are non-taxable in Canada.
One benefit they have is game show winnings are not taxable. I believe gambling and lottery wins aren’t either.
I thought Canadian game shows paid out tax free.
Even if they come Stateside for a game show. I remember Alex Trebek saying that a few times
@@someguy23475 Atlantic Lottery winnings, even if it's a massive Lotto Max jackpot win are not taxable.
I wonder if Wink has an episode of the primetime Double Dare that aired on Fox back in the vault. I think it was distributed by Fox Television Productions.
Anybody thinks this inspired "The Whole 19 Yards" and/or "101 ways to leave a gameshow"?
Hello, my name is Valen. I dedicate myself to teaching and I'm always looking for game shows, do you have kids game shows in your archive? It is for educational use, I do not seek to publish anything. I hope you can help me
This is a very extreme rare 1988 children's game show, however, it is a good game show!!
What if someone got a question wrong at the beginning?
They’d be Matthew out of the studio. Those questions are Kimdergarten level questions.
I thought you only do adult game shows?
OK game - but chintzy prizes for a kids show!
Weird selection at the beginning
Did this Canadian game show air in America?
In my area it aired on WLVI 56 in Boston at 5PM as I remember
If it did, I missed it! I never heard of this game in my life...my WHOLE life!
It did very briefly in syndication.
I doubt if it did.
WPHL 17, Philadelphia
Can you please post one of the full episodes of The Price Is Right's seventh season from 1978-79? It would honor the game shows 50th Anniversary!
Please and thank you. 🙏 😘
