- DIY Aztec Sun Stone Silicone Mold: Engraved Plywood to Plaster Casting Adventure! Welcome to our DIY adventure, where we embark on the journey of crafting a Aztec Sun Stone Silicone Mold from engraved plywood and then casting plaster into it! In this exciting project, we'll take you step by step through the process of creating a detailed and accurate replica of the ancient Aztec Sun Stone.
Download layout: drive.google.com/file/d/1EJ7R...
Using engraved plywood as our canvas, we'll meticulously carve out the intricate design of the Mayan calendar. Once the engraving is complete, we'll move on to the exciting part - making the silicone mold. With DIY ingenuity, we'll carefully pour silicone over the plywood engraving, capturing every detail to perfection.
After allowing the silicone to cure, it's time for the magic of plaster casting. We'll demonstrate how to mix and pour plaster into the silicone mold, creating solid replicas of the Aztec Sun Stone. The result? A stunning and durable plaster casting that preserves the rich heritage of the Mayan civilization.
Join us on this creative journey as we blend artistry, craftsmanship, and history in our DIY Aztec Sun Stone Silicone Mold Adventure!

Glad I have a resin printer , print and your done
I envy you in a good way
No you have to deal with a bunch of toxic chemicals break off the support and prepare it for curing process under lights Etc ,sure as heck isn't just printed and you're done LOL
There is truth in your words, but I want to try
that was such a fine detailed work. Perfect!
Thank you very much!
I just love your cat companion! Sell me that mold! Or one just like it. Hehehehe! Please....
Thank you very much! I think shipping this form will not be cheap.
@@DoasIDo2 Yeah, you would have to put holes in the crate and they would have to stop and feed it along the way and manage the duty. Very expensive. :-) 🤪
Ah, I misunderstood you!!! I thought you wanted a mold, but you want my cat? No, I will never give up my pet! 😊
@@DoasIDo2 No... I *did* mean your mold, but I could not resist that opening when I read you response. Of course I want your mold, but your kitty would never forgive me for taking her from you, much less the shipment torture. I was kidding, of course. A mold of your cat would be impossible to obtain and useless because the kitty soul would be missing. Unlike your creations, which seem to have captured the soul of the Sun Stone quite well. I wonder if instead of plaster you could cast some of that slurry epoxy stuff they have that looks like marble when it polymerizes. You could pour a thin mold of it and then back it with a back fill of a more stable or even "glass filled" epoxy backing if the marble stuff is too costly. I see these wood lathe guys filling molds with wood chips and resins and then turning it on a lathe to make beautiful vases and such. Harder to work with (no sh*t, it gets hard), but you could even get real creative and do a cloisonne type color fills, segment by segment in the mold, before the next layer. Kind of like how IC chips gets built. I have seen some pretty cool looking painted images out there. Mold release is your friend. "Food Grade" mold release agents may even be a better choice. It would take a long time to build up all the colors and backgrounds and make a colorful cloisonne type version. But you look like you spend lots of hours doing all kinds of crazy mold things, brother! I am digging it! I want to make things for pool players. I can already see where your mold media might be the actual product media for a couple items. The RTV silicones I used to use in High Voltage realm were very weak and would easily shear. Your stuff looks pretty hardy. You have made me want to do a new hobby before I croak!
Stunning
Amazingly beautiful 👌🙏 what 3D software do you use to create the model before printing it ???
Thank you very much! For 3D models I use PrusaSlicer, and for laser cutting RDWorksV8
Thank you for your Quick reply and bravo for your great assistant !!!🤪
Such a grate work!
Can you share this aztec sun file? =D
Thank you very much! Keep the file: drive.google.com/file/d/1EJ7Rzjjj3gkar_2P-5y-aCKElK2Jt_WY/view?usp=sharing
excellent job
Thank you very much!
Nice job. Which laser do you have?
Thank you very much! My machine is assembled from different components, so it doesn’t have a name. Working field size 60 by 40 cm, 100 watt tube
This is amazing, I’ve learned alot and I’m inspired to try that out. My only comment would be that since you’ve engraved on plywood, the engraved area of the plywood would show the wood grains and that would also show on the silicone mold (and ofcourse later the plaster product).. I wonder if the engraving was done on something more uniform like Acrylic sheets or MDF, the engraved surface might be cleaner?
Thank you very much! I haven't tried engraving acrylic or plexiglass myself, but I think it's a good idea to try.
Rub n buff would be good on it
El gato siempre de entrometido 😂
Excelente trabajo por cierto
Muchas gracias!
i like your videos :) can you share with us the vector of Mayan Calendar
Thank you very much! drive.google.com/file/d/1EJ7Rzjjj3gkar_2P-5y-aCKElK2Jt_WY/view?usp=sharing
Now you gotta make a stand for it or install wall mounts.
Yes you are right 👍

شكراً جزيلاً!
Great job congrats. Which brand laser is that? Thank you
Thank you very much! My machine is assembled, from parts of different brands
Just wondering what kind of sculptor putter you use? Is it like the dental plaster one or?
If I understand you correctly, I use clay tools.
nice work
Thank you very much!
nice nice...
Hello,
Which machine do you use for engraving?
Hello! I can’t say the name, it’s not written anywhere. Laser tube 100 watts, working field size 60x40 cm
can i do make this if i only have 3d printers?
Yes, you can do this with a 3D printer.
The video is cool, but the main character is a cat. 😼
Thank you very much!
Wonderful... but thats not mayan, its aztec
Thank you very much! Oh, I thought it was Maya!😊
Yes, it’s Aztec, and its name is “Piedra del Sol” or “Sun Stone”, not actually a calendar…and it is full of symbolism. Maybe you could edit the title of the video as a way to honor one of the greatest civilizations on earth. ❤
Thanks for the tip, I'll tidy up the title tomorrow!
@@DoasIDo2 🙏
Hello! I changed the name to the correct one. Thanks again for the tip!

Not wasting my time where the content creator is either unwilling or unable to speak and articulate their process.
I don't speak English. I'm sorry this is a problem for you!
Is that 350mm? 400? Anyway... I would love to have that laser file, Sir! Is that possible? My medallions suck because I never could find that detailed a file or image.
I made it 350mm, but you can make it 1000mm if your machine allows it. Here is the file: drive.google.com/file/d/1EJ7Rzjjj3gkar_2P-5y-aCKElK2Jt_WY/view?usp=sharing
@@DoasIDo2 Wow! Thanks! That is the most precise line art of this image I have ever seen.
