All about Ayodhya Temple:
Ayodhya Ram Mandir: The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya is all set to be inaugurated in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries on January 22. Followed by the consecration ceremony (pran pratishtha) of Ram Lalla in the sanctum-sanctorum (garbha-griha), the temple will be open for the devotees from January 24.
Devotees can witness the grandeur of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple,adorned with intricate carvings of India’s century old history. Well, it is not just a building but a treasure of faith and tradition residing in the heart of India for centuries. This article highlights the architectural marvels & symbolic elements of the sacred construction.
The original design for Ram Mandir was planned in 1988 by the Sompura family of Ahmedabad. However, it went through certain changes in 2020, in reference to the Vastu shastra and the Shilpa shastras. The Sompuras have contributed to the design of over 100 temples worldwide for at least 15 generations, including the Somnath temple.
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple construction is managed wholly by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.And its estimated cost of the temple's construction is expected to range between ₹ 1,400 crore to ₹ 1,800 crore.
The Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is designed in traditional Nagar architectural style. It is one of the two main styles of Hindu temple architecture. The temples are built with stone or brick on a square or rectangular plane with shikhara located in the center. In this architectural style, the temple is surrounded by small towers called Mukha Mandapa.
The site is the former location of the Babri Masjid mosque, which was built between 1528 and 1529. The idols of Rama and Sita were placed in the mosque in 1949, before it was attacked and demolished in 1992.In 2019, the Supreme Court of India delivered the verdict to give the disputed land to Hindus for construction of a temple, while Muslims were given land nearby in Dhannipur to construct a mosque.The court referenced a report from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) as evidence suggesting the presence of a structure beneath the demolished Babri Masjid, that was found to be non-Islamic.
On 5 August 2020, the bhumi pujan (transl. ground breaking ceremony) for the commencement of the construction of Ram Mandir was performed by Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India. The temple complex, currently under construction, is being supervised by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. On 22 January 2024, Modi served as the Mukhya Yajman (transl. chief patron) of rituals for the event and performed the prana pratishtha (transl. consecration) of the
temple.The prana pratishtha ceremony was organised by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra.
The temple has attracted a number of controversies due to alleged misuse of donation, sidelining of its major activists, and politicisation of the temple by the Bharatiya Janata Party.
How to Reach
AIR By Air : Several airlines are operating from Major cities to Mahirishi Valmiki International Airport Ayodhya which is approximately 10km from Ayodhya Dham . People can also reach from Lucknow ,Gorakhpur, Prayagraj and Varanasi Airports.
TRAIN By Train : Ayodhya Cantt and Ayodhya are major railway stations of the district and are well connected to almost all major cities and towns. By Rail route Ayodhya is 128 kms. from Lucknow, 171 kms. from Gorakhpur, 157 kms. from Prayagraj and 196 kms from Varanasi.
By Road : Services of Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation buses are available 24 hours a day, and it is very easy to reach here from all places. The city is about 130 k.m. from Lucknow, 200 k.m. from Varanasi, 160 k.m. from Prayagraj , 140 k.m. from Gorakhpur and about 636 k.m. from Delhi. Buses are frequently available from Lucknow,Delhi and Gorakhpur. Buses are also available from Varanasi, Prayagraj and other places as per their schedule.

Hanuman Garhi also known as Siddha Peeth Shri Hanuman Garhi is a Historical Temple devoted to Lord Hanuman situated at a distance of 1km from Ayodhya. It is one of the most famous temples in Ayodhya which was made in the 10th century. The Deity of Lord Hanuman is a unique Deity across India. Lord Hanuman protects Ayodhya from the day he was given residence at Hanuman Garhi.
