Unfortunately, the big problem is that too much of the player base hates the idea of newer players getting older Battle Pass items. Hell, even just older non-shop items in general like former Battle Royale/Save the World Starter Pack skins. Every time Epic experimented with it, it was met with considerable backlash because a sizable portion of the player base even to this day hates the idea of newer players buying things they've "earned".
Honestly, would it really be so bad if Battle Pass items eventually became available for anybody to purchase later on down the line? I only started playing this April, and because of that, there's a tonne of great skins that I'll never be able to unlock because they were locked behind battle passes from prior seasons.
@@SwiftyStardust Personally no, because this permeant kind of FOMO doesn't belong in gaming outside of licensing issues/actual controversies (A skin (Rue) has been blacklisted, for appearing the game's store for years as too many people says she looks too much like a Nazi). But unfortunately, Fortnite fans don't see it that way, and Epic has always preferred to play it safe when it comes to the game.
If the Fortnite community has taught me anything, it was that EA was right on how much gamers want the "pride and satisfaction" of having "rare" items.
@SwiftyStardust we have Mini Battle pass that usually comes back for a few months. As an Example The Clone trooper and Maul was in a Mini-battle pass, acted like they'll disappear like Regenade Raider.
But, came back few months later. If a Mini-pass can bring back "Exclusively" and "Rare" Skins, why not bring back Season pass as a regular Skin shop?
Who the fuck cares when ManChilds get mad when their "Rare" and "Exclusively" Skin is not Rare anymore?
It just feels waste for not bring them back. Alot of them are super easy to just put it on the Shop.

As someone who defends the battle pass promise I think it was a stupid decision to make the og music part of a battlepass instead of making it available to everyone.
Battle passes are inherently bad. There's no way to implementing them in a way that's not predatory.

The thing is, there are games that do have methods that are not that predatory
Warframe has it so previous rewards will reappear in mid seasonal content so you can re-earn those items and Deep Rock Galactic has it so all battle pass items get added to the general item pool afterwards
There are methods to make it less predatory but most companies choose to not do it, heck you're lucky if you get the Halo Infinite or Sea of Thieves system where previous passes are purchaseable or items get added to the store later, but to be brutally honest i would rather have that than the content getting cock blocked by time travel.

@@safetyboots As a Limbus Company Player (amongst other battle passes), I personally feel that Limbus Company does it right (and their f2p is done right by me too but that’s a different story). Buying the battle pass simply ensures that you have a less grindable, but guaranteed obtainable method, of getting that season’s content.
Any “gacha” content becomes available after the next season passes, and any non-unit content (read: content that doesn’t directly impact gameplay) is purchasable immediately upon season expiration -no waiting required.
If you miss a character in the season pass, you’ll just have to do a bit more grind. And -let’s be honest- any battle pass rewards you for your efforts, so you’ll be given materials to get earlier content even in later seasons. No FOMO because the only thing you might miss is non-gameplay affecting cosmetics, which, in a mostly campaign single-player game? You could genuinely go the whole game without seeing it, they’re that unimportant.

I'd love if they'd cut the FOMO crap entirely and let people do the Halo Infinite thing with the battle pass and swap between past and present ones, but that sounds far too reasonable for Epic Games.

Since you also played back then, wasn't that battle pass free? Like in the pass before it didn't they give you a thing that insta unlocked the next one for you? The season 8 battle pass i believe was the first one that was basically free

Fortnite OG should have been the single time they let people earn everything they missed from chapter 1 and I will not change my mind on this.
I only recently got into fortnite and I just don't understand why so many fortniters whine and complain about exclusivity with digital items. Really explains the NFT craze...

Half the reason to play Fortnite are the skins, part of why there's so many and why so many are limited purchases.

I started in Chapter 2 season 1. I was really disappointed by the idea of locking loading screens and music tracks behind events and passes. You are totally 100% right. Every player should at very least have SOME way to get the tracks at very minimum. My personal favorite in the entire soundtrack was Beach Blast, which, if I recall was locked behind an event a few summers ago. It’s a downright shame people who played after it will never get to hear it in game. While I have it, most of my pals don’t. (Beach blast I mean) I mentioned it to one the other day and unsurprisingly found myself echoed.
I have yet to see a good aplication of "temporary content", or any good "life service" for that matter.
It's all gambling and weaponizing FOMO. And it's disheartening to see it so normalized.

Fortnite should do what halo infinite did and make old battle passes purchasable. This would ease fomo a lot and give new players the chance to earn older cosmetic items as well as loading screens and music. Then, give the ogs a special variants of the cosmetics they bought.
Honestly, people should bring up the fact that certain games has insanely overprotective copyright.
Imagine my surprise when you can stream Halo:CE through Reach, and have no problems with copyright… but the very second you play any snippet from Halo 4’s OST; you WILL get copyright claimed.

It's not really 343's fault in that case, its because the composer (either Neil Davidge or Kazuma Junichi) was signed with Sony Music at the time instead of Microsoft internal record label. So the music is copyrighted by them.

I remember playing Fortnite on my PS4 when it first released and the most standout thing to me was the lobby/title track. Around the end of season 1 is when I had stopped playing, but I would still just listen to this track while doing homework. Fast forward a few years to Ch2, Season 7 and I started playing the game again. The new lobby tracks are great in their own right. But I've always wanted the original lobby music back. It was literally the ONLY thing I wanted out of Season OG, and epic fumbled that shit.
The title screen version is my favorite one it's just way too chill, I remember opening save the world way before battle royale was a thing and just standing there listening to it, when fortnite OG got announced i was expecting them to give us that theme... and well... the remix is what we get...
Unfortunately they've attempted to release battle pass items, if not very slight recolors, and even that made a lot of idiots mad. it's obnoxious because so many things like gliders, contrails, even the pet backblings are all gone like dust in the wind.
The biggest problem is that Fortnite's entire monitization and economy is based around FOMO, from the battlepasses to the in-game shop being on a 24 hour rotation of random items. Epic could sell the battle pass items but they won't because if they do, then they will start to lose a portion of the playerbase. Whenever this discussion is brought up there will be an elitist out there crying about how they shouldn't do it since they "earned it".

I don't play FN anymore; I did reinstall it for the OG update, but I haven't had anyone to play with, so I've just sorta not. But I have that track, and I 100% agree everyone should have it! In fact, I think all the stuff on old battle passes should be available for people to get after those battle passes have gone. I don't really get why they have that dumb rule to begin with, but after enough time has passed; making that stuff available again just makes sense, especially if they put it behind a paywall; that's just free money they're not taking!

The most heinous crime in my opinion is how they didn’t even bring back the OG future remix music pack a single time in season OG, the one they could’ve brought back at any time because it was a shop pack and not in the battlepass.

It would kick ass if people could get some of the skins I have that they got FOMO'd out of like Catalyst and Zenith. Epic Games really made the playerbase FOMO's bitch
So, the only time I remember them actually giving out a past item is back when they made ride the pony free. I’m not sure if it was only to Save the World owners, since it was always able to be used in that mode (I love save the world, and wish they showed it a bit more love) but I also remember hearing that people who had the dance already were annoyed that it was given out. I’m lucky in that I played the season in which the OG music was given out, but I can definitely understand the frustration with the battle-pass locking of cosmetics. Hell, one of my biggest annoyances is that I started playing a season after one of my favorite skins was in the battle pass, Dark Voyager. And then I wasn’t able to unlock the different colors for either Carbide nor Omega, as I didn’t get enough levels before that season ended. There are a lot of problems with the system, and it’d be nice if Epic listened to their players more.
I'm glad I played all of Season X but yeah, I myself was expecting them to bring the lobby track back.
I’ve been playing for a few years and only recently started with a group of friends. It sucks to explain that a skin or emote or whatever they think is cool was from an old pass and they’ll never be able to get it. I understand incentivizing players to keep playing for time exclusive items, but at least release this crap again down the road. I hate looking at skins I like and seeing the locked away palettes because I didn’t play the game like a full-time job.
This is one of the many reasons nobody should play this fucking game. Just let it go, this kind of abusive shit is unacceptable. And this is one of the biggest games there are. The more people spend time and money on it, the more other games will be ruined with this same abusive bullshit. Unironically get off my fucking lawn you fucking gen alpha.

I just tried that, it doesn't work. The OG them will play regardless of what music track you have if you get a win, but that's only until you go back to the lobby screen.

I started playing during Chapter 1 Season 2 and really missed the og music tracks when they swapped it for the other one, disappointed by the release of the remixed version in season 6, and played during every season now by this point EXCEPT season x which is the one that it happened to released in the battle pass. I didnt even know about it until like 3 years after that. It sucks not being able to have a lobby music that ive had previously available just because they made it battle pass
They probably would’ve given the actual og lobby music to people in this season if they didn’t have it in the Season X battle pass
the one big thing about fortnite that pisses me off is battle pass items just being permanently forever lost. I REALLY wanted to get meowskulls but had no clue where that skin was from. Turns out she was from a battle pass a few months before I started getting back into the game.

Tiny game, mix out of PvE Minecraft and shooter games called Fortnite. Looked hella cool. Small booth. Played some of the closed Alpha back then and there.
If anything, I am the only true OG! And none of those whiny whimps that believe music tracks should be locked away.

I played since the end of season 2 and i've taken breaks every now and then to play other things, I've missed seasons due to that but, the only form of regret i get from it is "aw man i can't own peely" but this system as a whole is aging like pure milk due to just how much content epic is keeping behind some dumb vault. And seeing them trying to make bootleg versions of skins to compensate for the fact you can't earn them is funny to me cause, yeah epic, i want peely version number 10, or you can just idk give me the chance to earn the original again? Since i bought season 8 way back?
If I saw others running around with reaper, I wouldn't even bitch and moan about it, in fact screw it let them have it i rarely wear that skin and i have john wick anyways so why bother, but really when it comes down to it a majority of this commuinity is putting value in to pixels in a game that epic can perma ban you over if they feel like it.
It's a shame they didn't bring it back for people to unlock. in chapter 3 season 1 they did it so I don't see why they didn't reintroduce it

I agree 100%. Rom's original music was AMAZING. I can't believe missing it in Season 10 was such a mistake. At the time, i considered buying levels until I unlocked it. I should have!
But they did release a battle pass item, the "Golden Scales" weapon wrap in the item store, it may not be big but they took it from the FREE season 7 battle pass and re-released it

Idk if yall played back then but this was the first battle pass that was free basically. They gave you a free battle pass for the next season in the battle pass before or they gave you the vbucks for it if I remember correctly. I quit in season 10 of the first chapter so my memory could be a little foggy but I remember you could pretty much get those last 3 battle passes of that chapter for free if you just bought one of them
Battlepasses conceptually are about creating scarcity for a bunch of digital goods in a game that could go offline in 10 years if the stars align and some suit says so.
I remember listening to the giant bombcast however many years ago, back when epic was first talking about fortnite being in development. It was a tower defense game where you built a fort to defend against zombies that came in the night. Then it wallowed in development hell long enough for PUBG to come out, and suddenly gets spun into a monstrous frankenstein of branded content to eat PUBG's lunch. Lord knows the original premise probably got dumped for a reason, but this game bleeds corporate skinner box in ways that are hard to reckon with. No judgement to people who play it, if you have fun, you have fun. But don't let these jackasses dangle shiny objects at you to get your credit card number.

Tbh I haven't played the OG season yet because Im not really into fort anymore and I'll play it rarely when I'm in the mood, I just don't like how it is now. Though I understand how you feel but honestly it makes sense why they did this well for many reaons because they actual OG music was in chapter 1 seaosn 10 or X and they don't bring back old battlepass seasons unfortunately which I find cringe but also this isn't exactly OG so it's gonna be abit different and have it's own takes. As someone who has the lobby music, I'd be fine if they decided to give it out again. It would be nice to be compensated with something small for those who already have it, but I personally wouldn't lose sleep over not getting anything. I think limited time battlepasses are a shitty practice in 90% of games that implement them anyways, and I wouldn't mind more items from older passes returning.

This is one of the reasons for why I decided to quit the game - Epic Games often doesn't think everything throughout, and often it comes back and bites them and fans in the ass, or worse - it bites just the fans. I noticed that in past, and I did not noticed Epic improving much in that aspect in recent time, so this is another reasoning for me to leave.

Was not expecting this from tripl-Q lol, when i saw the thumbnail I thought it was some minor fortnite content creator, but when I clicked the video it was the same guy who makes snow halation mashups.
I have never played Fortnite, and thus have no real stake in this, but I hate this sort of artificial exclusivity nonsense, since all it does is let a few people have inflated egos over being in a sooper sekrit club
When I saw that Fortnite was going to return to the OG I was happy more because I thought at that time that they were going to give away the original music, at the time when Fortnite was popular in my school I did not have the possibility of playing Fortnite, more because I did not have one computer or ps4 and when fortnite ported it to android it was already chapter 2. When I entered this season (Chapter 4 Season OG) and saw the gift... I was sad and a little angry inside

i felt ya ragin rant and all, but on top of that: the gaming companies's cocky business practices which also leading to create many predatory contents to their customers alike, and people were still sick and tired of getting their wallet or even bank account printed into what they want way too hard thanks to how companies pricing it too. Meanwhile Treyarch, where Black Ops Cold Wars did gladly had rereleased the battle pass/season pass item as an in-game store page's bundle up to around season 3 where its goes by "Vault Pack" which at least imo a nicer >:] approach of anti-FOMOS

I'm a huge Mecha Team Leader fan, been one ever his introduction in season 9. I've gotten every version of the skin, I've collected everything related to it, everything I do on Fortnite I do with Mecha Team Leader. They put Mecha Team Leader's theme music in the battlepass during a time when I wasn't playing fortnite often enough to get the battlepass. It really breaks my heart that even if I have all the pickaxes, backblings, skins, and emotes relating to Mecha Team Leader, I will never be able to have his kickass music.

This is everything I hate about games nowadays. Everything has to change and use limited time events and other shit like that. Is it so wrong of me to want to play the same game I bought 3 years ago? Is it also wrong of me to want access to all the content if I don't play from day 1? It's especially weird how complacent fanbases are about it. They'll rally against new microtransactions when the smell a whiff of them but don't see anything wrong with a reinvention of Disney's fucking vault.
It's gotten to a point I literally do not play live-service games no matter how fun they look or how many of my friends are playing it. I hate it.
I started playing Fortnite this year, for C4S2 cuz the cyberpunk lizard sold me.
But hearing that, it really is a shame with all that's going on. And the worst of all is that, afaik, Epic ALREADY PLACED THEIR OLD BATTLEPASSES at the shop, so the new people could have a chance that isn't unfair, because just like the "OGs", they will have to pay and grind to get the items. Epic just had to do this AGAIN at least once and we'd have the classic theme.
