Nobody could pass inside like Gordon …just a few inches from the white line was all he needed. Barry Briggs thought Gordon was the best at this art. Such a thrill to see him swooping from the fence at White City to squeeze inside past the world’s best riders ! Ron Johnson (from 1946) and Gordon always my two favourite riders. Thanks for the memories, Gordon and my sympathy to your family and friends. John Warner

Gordon so brave and Kelly 18 years old in conditions he was not used to, both riding absolutely superbly.

I was there...the whole england team had a nightmare of a day.....john Davis who john berry overlooked in favour of malcom simmons turned up the very next night in again very wet conditions and smashed out a maximum as if to say F*** you!.....RIP gorden great rider
