    Patrick, can't say how very thankful I am to have discovered your videos where everything is put together. Not having trained formally, my knowledge has been picked up in scattered bits and pieces. Thanks to you, it'll be much easier to put them all together. And an additional thank you for always factoring in self-defence scenarios. Too often we forget that an opponent on the street might not be playing fair, and several grappling positions can leave us easily vulnerable to a knee or fist to the nuts

      Lol... glad you like it, Kenny Basumatary! Indeed, that's what we are striving to accomplish with EMA, to provide you with a structured and workable system for fighting and self-defense training so you can reach your full martial arts potential. Thanks for watching, and hope you keep on training :)

      Have you thought about making a wiki site with all the strikes,grapples, and counters? But instead of articles you have bits of your videos. I love the table of contents idea. Adds a lot of structure.

      Thanks, ahmedeox. Great suggestion, will look into it. And yes, we find structure helps a lot to retain the information. Thanks for watching!

      Probably just understands how to utilize leverage, axial rotations of the human body and how to act by which joints are corresponding with the opposition's joints and the different options off of that.

      @@EffectiveMartialArts I wasn't making fun of you! I get a charge out of Canadian accents, in a good way. I love GSP's accent especially, although I think his may be thicker than most. Anyway, thanks for the vid, this helped tremendously.

      Thanks for your comment, manuel bergman. I have studied kung fu in the past, but these techniques are inspired mostly from wrestling and grappling arts. - Patrick

    Why do you always use opposite stance? Its not natural, isit?

    • @EffectiveMartialArts
      @EffectiveMartialArts  7 років тому +2

      Good question, Ondrej Nagy, indeed the opposite or mirror stance is used often in this video since that is the stance that is most likely to create opportunities for single leg takedowns. When in same stance, a double leg is more common, although we also show 3 different single leg finishes from same stance in this video at 13:15. Furthermore, opposite stance is a quite common occurrence when a righty faces a lefty or when one or both fighters are accustomed to switching stances in a fight, so one must prepare for all eventualities. Hope this helps. -Patrick

    With the fast clamping of the thighs or a more typical high crotch grip the groin kick is not such a big danger. But good videos and positional collections for Kung fu and Karate styles, with their own deep stances as approach to wrestling and MMA like sparring.

      Thank you for your comment, Kenkon Germany. Indeed, we did not cover the high crotch takedown yet, but we will in a future video. Thanks for watching :)
