Hmmmm..it won't make any difference... it is a new generation of warfare.. it would just be another grave stone.. the logical military doctrine is all about.
Croatia sent old Mi8 helicopters to Ukraine. Believe me, every single helicopter sent by Croatia has seen more action, harsh conditions and incidents than the entire Australian squadron of helicopters. Of course, they also participated in war operations. I think Australians have a thick comfort zone that they never leave and it is very difficult for them to understand how a nation that is fighting for its survival really feels. You think the Ukrainians don't have incidents with their existing helicopters far from the front line? So send them Taipans and in this condition they probably have a better safety record compared to soviet type helicopters.
I agree, give the Hellicopters to Ukrane. They take responsibility . What we dont want here is new hicups. ! There are problems in the US. We need to lead. Politicians reverse decision. Stand alone , be proud Australia.
Taipans can be flown remotely. Australian leaders, not Australians, obviously aren’t sending them because they agree with Putin. No other reason is plausible. (Unless they have already sent them and this is a decoy)
@@rolandnelson6722 lots of people think countries should fight there own battles. Ukraines and Russia's goes back to 1854. this is nothing new. just different names different people BUT still the same area of land in a war.
What is the crash record??? In the 80s Black Hawks were crashing all over the place. Quality of maintenance was a major problem. Some units had not issues because of their mechanics.
The Government is supplying millions of dollars of equipment to the Ukraine. Spend the money to resurrect the Taipans into service for the Ukraine. Not rocket science either spend the money to give them helicopters they see a need for.
This country is at war, people are dying daily in various, ugly ways and the Australian government is worried about the safety standards of the helicopters requested by Ukraine. This whole farce just highlights the unworldly cocoon our career politicians live in, completely divorced from the real world. I am sure the Ukrainians are more than happy to take responsibility for the operations of the aircraft and any negative outcomes that may occur. Also, they are a European built machines and I am quite sure there are plentiful supplies of spare parts there, along with the expertise on how to maintain them.
Albanese knows these Helicopters are not going to be used here but what is the harm in donating the to Ukraine ? Is Albo appeasing Vladimir Putin ? Is he afraid of ruffling Russian feathers or poking the bear ? Beginning to be rather disappointed in Albo and Labor !!
It’s Australia, we probably only have 12 of them anyways lol when the USA left all the black Hawkes in the Middle East the taliban were quick to repair them so I’m sure that even with missing bits these helis would be a great help to Ukraine.
18 Blackhawks were seized from the Afghan National Army after the withdrawal of coalition troops from Afghanistan, only 6 were operational, and less than 6 are now believed to be airworthy. You 45 helicopters siting in storage in Townsville.
The fact that these are not safe and a risk, is a reasonable excuse not to send them. The heading of this piece makes it sound like Australia don't sympathise with Ukraine.
Lack of backbone these helicopters could have saved many lives ferrying insured soldiers back to medical facilities, I do hope the Labor Government can look back at the Ukraine war and say. We helped Putin by not giving our redundant helicopters to Ukraine, something to be proud of Not.
Which government is going to pay to ship them...6000 miles or so into the Black Sea where the freighter ship may come under attack from land based Russian cruise or other missiles? Look, it would be better to ship a dozen of the best left intact for the Ukrainians to decide. Can a smaller group be sent? Just so they can maybe fly 8 or 9 on a regular basis and use the other three for parts?
Is there anything less credible than statements by politicians and ADF leaders (present and past)?
Absolutely shocking,usually Australia’s gutsy geopolitically
-we Americans respect Australia’s armed forces, they stood by us in Bush’s pointless wars,we honour their sacrifice

as an Australian I am ashamed!!
Ukraine is very smart and they can reassemble them no problem. They build drones same as helicopters but with more propellers.

😂 Mate,a helicopter is just a bit more complicated than a drone..
Why did Australia pay good taxpayer money on unsafe helicopters in the first place?
Let Ukraine be the judge.
Sad that Australia cannot gift these Helicopters to Ukraine at no cost war is a bigger risk than the Taipan!
Those helicopters are very good even more than the old Russian helicopter that Ukraine used now
It’s such an urgent need that a history of 1 falling is an acceptable risk.
A missed opportunity by Australia, seemingly pointless since we're decommissioning them anyway.

putin won the war
Australia is wrong, give the helicopter to Ukraine.
Russian sources claimed that there was 3 persons in the helicopter but that a 4th person was added, a person who died in Ukraine.
Shows Australia is not a serious country
